One of my boys is from the rspca too and the first time I took him to work with me last year at a boarding kennel he got so stressed out he was constipated for a bit and it took him about a week to get back to his normal self. I have since taken him back, but he now knows he goes home at the end of the day and itsnt bothered by going anymore. Lots of dogs bark in boarding. We are supplied with ear plugs for a reason lol. Dogs usually settle well into boarding. Some dogs may take a day, but we've even had dogs in that have SA and have not had any dramas. The trial is really for the owners the dogs normally have a blast in kennels.

Hay all, there's to be a workshop happening in may run by underdog training. Its being held at west coast pet care centre. If anyone wants a copy of the flyer I can email it.
-
I also highly recommend Kathy, and also looking forward to the workshop in May. Its being held at my work, so its super convenient. I agree with others, its not appropriate to play with every dog you meet, like I mentioned in our pm. We can do some work when we meet up.

I have to say, Wayne is pretty damn good. My boy quarantined in Melbourne and had to fly to me in Perth. Wayne arranged everything. He called me to let me know balto had been dropped off at the airport and then called again later to see if he had arrived yet. Later on he even sent me a text with some pics he had taken of balto.

I don't like correction chains on puppies. They aren't for pulling. And a sporn harness may help, but put him back on a flat collar and he will just pull. Don't take him out of class because this will just make him more excited when he eventually sees other dogs. You just need practice and to be consistent with him. I'd consider coming to puppy classes at my work. We are going to trial offlead puppy classes like Ian Dunbar does, so you can't rely on the lead and have to actually work tokeep your dog focused on you. If we meet up we can chat some more and do some practice runs with our dogs.

Thx everyone :-D My other dog is reactive (though he has loved balto from the day they met) and its just so nice to have a dog friendly dog.

There was a horse in the paddock next door and he was pretty interested in it. I'm very pleased he hasn't eaten the cat (im sure jacks pretty happy about that too) since he only met the breeders farm cat once when he was a pup. He's also met my friends 6 (!) Cats and has been fine with them, though he saw a kitty on our walk once and wanted to go check it out sooo bad. Balto and I are looking forward to a play date too :-)

My work (west coast pet care) offers day care.

Right now its a minimum of 30 days, but some countries its longer. As rebanne said, it may be 10days by the time you are ready to come back, but there are a lot of tests you have to get done before your dog can come back, and rules are getting tougher and tougher. Plus the money side of it. I just imported a pup from England. He had to be 9 months old before he could come over and had just over 1000$ of vet stuff. Plus his flight was 5000$ and that was just the one way!! (he was about 26kg at the time) quarantine cost 1305$ for 30 days plus application fees, but if it changes to 10 days it shouldn't cost that much. Its also quite a strain to place on your dog.

I work at west coast pet care, and the training done onsite is called doggy would training. Classes are run on Saturday mornings and have just started back up. The two puppy classes are in 6 week blocks and run constantly so you don't have to wait til certain dates for a new block of classes to start. Its good because there's usually new dogs every couple of weeks so the pups don't just get used to the same pups. Its held in an enclosed outdoor yard and there's off less socialisation time at the end of every lesson. -
Havent seen it but have heard it the experiment before.

Id recommend looking into "friendly dog collars" they go by the "street light system" They make green (friendly) orange (no dogs) and red (caution) collars, leads and harnesses with the words printed on them. Apparently of your dog is wearing a no dogs or caution collar and lead you have advertised that your dog shouldnt be approached and if someone ignors that its their own fault.

Ah what a jip. Dogs over 6 months have to be sterilised to be able to go. Amy what area are you in? My work does puppy classes in the wanneroo area. Once he's a little bigger he can play with my boy too. :-) -
I had my last dog cremated when she was pts a couple of yrs ago. She was sent there by the vets who passed my information on and they contacted me asking what I wanted. They were really good when I started blubbering on the phone. Poor guy must have had to deal with it every day. Kelly was put in a wooden box which has a plaque on it that has her name engraved. She sits on the mantlepiece with a couple of pictures of her.

Sure :):)

Yes I've been getting people asking if he is a husky x shep. I had the new guy at work actually ask if he was a tamaskan. I got so excited someone knew what a tam was :p

Great Prices On Crates In Wagga Wagga

Look up the jumbo hammertone cage. It's massive. Much much bigger than a normal fold down crate. (this one doesn't fold down) my boy is big and very long and he has plenty of room.
