fyi, there is apparently a breeding pair of ni being imported to Australia at some point next yr (I think) though there will still be a wait for them to be old enough to be bred, as well as needing to past health tests. I believe I talked to you the other day about tamaskan. in regards to puppy placement, they will be placed with people who have gotten to know me (and vise versa). avoid the so called lykos dog.

Yes Janet you're right, rook is baltos half uncle. The boys were imported to Australia together.

balto has completed the minumum requirements to become a stud dog and i have signed a breeders contract with the TDR (tamaskan dog register). the tamaskan is not yet a recognised breed, so i am not a ankc registered breeder, only through the TDR.

Haya, I am now a registered tamaskan breeder, however i only have my stud balto. yes there are 3 tams in australia, BUT they are all male. I'm saving up for a bitch but it will be a little while. Where are you in WA? you can meet balto if you like.

I personally don't recommend people get two puppies at the same time. Purely because I find most people incapable of training the dogs separately and making sure the pups have time apart so they don't get dependent on each other. This person sounds like they were doing things the right way though, and did at least wait 6 months to get a second dog.

What kind of things are there to do with your dog in Perth? Do we have anywhere that does dock diving? Doggy dancing? I don't think my dog is cut out for herding, and although I would like to get him into agility, we need to do more work with distractions and recall first.

Advise them of the required health tests their breeds need. Or take them to a pound and show them all the dogs that are going to be pts.

I don't think ava makes scores public. I know the bva doesn't. The DNA thing, I think it may depend on the breed / what you are testing for. Eg: the tamaskan must be tested for DM before breeding. We use the OFA for this test, which is posted publicly.

I know that the bva (the British one) will hip score unregistered breeds as this is the one the tamaskan dog register use. Just trying to find out if the AVA also score unregistered breeds.

If they do not score unrecognised breeds then I will have to use the BVA. Thanks guys.

A little over a year ago I was looking at getting a husky pup and responded to several adds about puppies every time I would get a return email with pictures of pups and a list of questions for me to answer (for some reason my religion was always one of the questions) and then they would say that they were in south Africa and I would only have to pay for the pup to be shipped to me (they pups were advertised as free and in Australia).

Hi, I have not imported from Canada, but have imported from England. The breeder I went through already went to a GA approved vet, so we didn't have to find one. I'd say its maybe a half and half deal. Should be easy enough for you to contact vets in your breeders area by email and then give her/ him a list to choose from. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions about importing. Also, since you don't have a quarantine station in SA, I'd recommend contacting wayrod on this forum about flights, he organised my dogs flight from melb to Perth.

I recommend my work place west coast pet care, though it would b a bit of a drive for your friend. We do training there too, so puppy can get lessons while staying.

:-D I've got sooooo many new photos (i haven't put up any of him with his summer coat, and he's starting to get fluffy again), but I don't know if I can post from my phone and my internet stick-thing has been missing for a while so can't post from my laptop.

My pups contract was just that I would give him back to the breeder if I could not keep him.

My boy adjusts his play to the dog I put him with. He prefers rough play, but if the other dog is small or a puppy or just doesn't like it, he won't rough play. Dogs work things out. My older dog is dog reactive, and has never played with another dog before and they go crazy together.
