  1. I am the ultimate dog snob! I like the vast majority of dogs far more than I like the vast majority of people. S
  2. This is very interesting. I need to do some more investigation about a dog council rang me about recently........ S
  3. Two of mine are trained to exercise on a treadmill as I have my own to exercise them on, but I'm near Canberra. Both ACD's one red (but he's an older dog so couldn't do a lot of running) and one blue. My treadmill is packed away at the moment but I'm due to break it out again soon now that daylight savings has ended. I could get some pics if needed, but I'm sure you will find someone closer to Sydney. S
  4. Hi guys, I have a confession - I had not actually felt the material when I gave the previous answer - and I said it looked like a hessian type of material. Well, I still stand by that, but I actually thought I had better take a closer look at it and it is acutally a "rubberised" type of material, something like what is put on the bottom of shelving in caravans, etc to stop stuff sliding around when the van is in transit. It is extremly strong - I haven't actually taken a knife to it, but it would be extremely difficult to rip. Sheilaheel, if you are going, you will get a chance to see it at Bemboka, Canberra or Goulburn and any other trials we go to. For those up in Norther NSW or perhpas Q'ld, it will also be at Armidale. Sorry to those in other states - we do not travel that far for trials . . . well, not very often, anyway. We may also be using it at Sydney royal, but that will depend on the judges. Even if the judges choose not to use it at these trials, we will set it up for people to use. Cheers, Thanks CFS, Yes, I will be competing at Canberra and probably Goulburn I hope. Won't be at Bemboka, I have obedience this WE. I had an image in my mind of what Mick might do to a table covered in hessian if he hit it a bit too quick LOL. Shaz
  5. Unfortunately, I don't have access to YouTube to have a better look at the new table. To be honest, I'm not that concerned about the noise with my dog and I can probably do some practice at home with stuff under the table and strange noises etc. I just hope that the hessian top is really strong and secured really well to the top of the table! :) S
  6. I can totally picture that CBD. I made the mistake, just once, of picking my cat up and dancing with him around the house in my PJ's while I was watching music video's. Now, I cannot play music in the house without the cat coming running to harass me to join the party. He sits up and begs and paws with one foot until we 'bust a move' LOL. S
  7. Anyone heard what is happening with Lizzie? Just following up for my friend. S
  8. :p LOL. I need LESS dogs Mate, not more, size is irrelevant. S
  9. How sad for Lizzie and her loving owner I had my dogs in for chiropractic treatment yesterday and the Chiropractor asked me if I knew of any other little JRT's like Lucky (the little guy I inherited from my Uncle). Obviously, Lucky has worked his charms on the Chiro :) His Pop passed away recently and his Nan is sometimes a bit lonely, so he is on the lookout for a well behaved companion for her. She has had JRT's in the past. I would have offered him Lucky because I've already got my hands full with three ACD's of my own, but I've become too attached to the little bugger already. Have mentioned Lizzie and will pass your details on too Jill. Sharon
  10. Sorry to hear this CFS. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for Murphy. S
  11. Fair enough Jill. I can understand their attitude if they've had bad experiences with some rescue groups in the past - haven't we all. Happy to try the honey approach - although I thought I was pretty polite the first time around. If you have contact details of the guy you spoke to, could you pm them through? The person I spoke to was very curt and dismissive, I got the impression I was merely annoying for calling. Maybe just having a very bad day perhaps, I imagine if I worked in a pound with those figures, most days would be less than stellar. S
  12. Actually, I did try to speak to Campbelltown Council regarding a dog I had seen on an internet site with a view to rescuing him. I would describe the response as apathetic and frustrating. S
  13. Congrats Wuffles and CleoJ. Wuffles saw our dismal and frustrating effort last night. SFE has been our biggest problem all along, but MM stood like a rock last night after deciding he didn't really feel like heeling - except for fast pace of course! Ahh, if I had a dollar for every Judge who told me I'd do really well if the whole pattern was in fast pace........ S
  14. Good luck Megan and Fergus. I hope you have a good outcome and he is back running flat out again soon. S
  15. Hi Megan, CFS has offered some good advice here as have others. Perhaps consider keeping Fergus quieter and stick to on lead walking for a few days until after your appointments. His drive for the ball may have over-ridden any discomfort and he could be at be a risk of doing further damage. If he is cleared of any injury, then by all means go for it and enjoy lots of stress-free, high energy games. :D S
  16. PL, Maybe they thought you'd be distracted by the stupid drawn on moustache and French accent? S
  17. Good Girl River! Bless your heart, I hope you fully recover. Biased x 2!!! Shaz B
  18. I may be anthropomorphic, but what the hell, I think that several of my animals (past and present)are fantastic judges of character. They've been proven right too many times for me not to take notice. S
  19. Hey thanks Dallas, We have finally made contact with Michelle and she is trying to help us. There is one person who has access to it but she has advised that she cannot add in new administrators. Michelle has offered a few suggestions which we are going to try but if they don't work, I will definitely be in touch! Shaz B
  20. Hi efowler, I believe one person has access but have been advised she cannot change anything. I will double check though. I'm not on FB, so I can't check myself. Shaz B
  21. We have contacted Facebook, but not having much luck there.....
  22. Hi All, Some time ago a generous person assisted to setup a Facebook page for ACDR. We have lost track of this person unfortunately, though we believe her name is Michelle and she was with another rescue group in QLD (though she may have since left that group). We need to make some amendments to the page due to changes in members etc but can't seem to do that without this persons assistance. If anyone might know who this person is and possibly have their contact details, could you please ask them to contact me ASAP or PM contact details? Many thanks in advance. Sharon B ACDR Inc
  23. I've just been directed to this thread after offering $30 towards his rescue. This dog is due to be PTS on Friday. I know AWDRI will do everything they can to try to get this guy out, but you might also want to try SLK Cattle Dog Rescue who are in Sydney. Who did you contact at ACDR? I don't know what or if we can do anything as we are overrun at this time of year like everyone else, but if there is some way I can support or assist, then let me know. I'd hate to see this guy go down if he is a nice dog too! Sharon Bowditch ACDR Inc www.australiancattledogrescue.com
  24. SC, they may have offered a replacement, I can't remember, but it would have been a pain in the neck to send it back and I'd rather have the points to put towards something else. I have a JRT in it at the moment, but when I get him a new abode I will give this one to my Mum who has two Chi's. It should hold them OK.
  25. I bought a crate with wheels and double side doors from Crazy sales for my Cattle Dog pup and was not happy with the 'quality' of it. The concept of the crate is brilliant, but it arrived damaged while still in the box. It has very flimsy, thin wire IMHO and the door latches were easy for her to open herself, so had to cable tie one of them shut and secure the other. When the doors were open the pin that closes the door stuck out in a dangerous manner at dog eye level. Might be OK for a small, elderly or sedate canine. I complained to CS and they said they couldn't replace the broken/missing parts, but the did refund me some crazy $. Maybe their 'standard' style crates are better. S
