Oh that is lovely - reminds me of the one with the dog in the leaves :D My favourite thing is watching my dogs play, could do it all day long...... I hope things turn a corner for you and today is much better

My two dogs - we came home from a walk, let them off their leads in the front yard as per usual, stopped for a while and chatted about the garden when all of a sudden a cat who had been hiding under a bush, couldn't cope any more with hiding and raced out in front of the dogs, across the road with both dogs in close pursuit I had them both under control pretty quickly but certainly not before they raced over the road with the cat. I will never, ever assume again. We were so lucky that day.

I had three, but down to two now. I love having a pack but really only cope best with two as we take them away camping etc a lot and its easier to cope with just two.

awwww she's beautiful I just love watching dogs play :)

Hope her bowels clear up soon and you get a good response back from the vet. How dare they hedge the question when you asked about how the took the sample, I'd be pretty suspicious about that. Vets and doctors usually explain everything down to the very last detail, even when you don't want them to! Best wishes to the old girl and hopefully she will be feeling better soon :)

Oh i hear you, i have family members who tell off their extremely placid mature dog for growling at the extremely annoying puppy! The poor mature dog now tries to hide from the puppy, i try to explain to them that the older dig has every right to educate the pup, but they're all like "the poor little pup getting growled at"!!

Wishing for all the best for Sarah today, fingers and paws crossed all will be well :)

When Is A Good Time To Bring In The New Puppy
CHA replied to Bubba & Maximus's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes, we purposefully got a third dog because we knew time was near for the older one. Our second dog was so closely bonded to the older one we knew he'd be lost without him. We chose a rescue dog for companionship and a playmate for the younger dog and one gentle enough not to hurt or annoy the older dog. It all worked out very well, and when it was time to say goodbye to our old dog, the ones left behind were fine. sorry that you will be having to go through this, i understand how precious your dogs are to you. Best wishes and i hope all goes well for the time you have together. -
We successfully housetrained a 1 yr old from the pound. Its just like a pup, they eventually get it. Id be more concerned, in your situation, that you would be able to have a meet and greet with your other dog, as you really want a good friend for her. If you ended up with a ratbag who didn't get along with your other dog i think that would be not what you were wanting from this. Keep a clear focus, the right dog will come along.

I have been through a few different vets trying to find one I am happy with. We live near Happy Valley and have gone to the Aberfoyle Hub Vet Clinic for 13 years (and 3 dogs) now. I can thoroughly recommend them. Ian has kept my old dog going through all sorts of troubles and I have always trusted him and his advice. We had to say goodbye to my old dog last week and they were extremely caring and considerate all the way through. They do 3 yearly vaccinations and never up-sell or try and make us buy any extras, like some do. Prior to this we went to Colonel Light Gardens Vet clinic who were terrific, but we moved and started going to Aberfoyle Hub just for vaccinations etc. but they have been so trustworthy that I just changed over completely.

I am so sorry for your loss and what you have had to go through. Loosing a dog so young would be absolutely devastating and i can totally understand your emotional state. It will get better but it will take time. I said goodbye to my boy exactly a week ago today and the grief, loneliness and the huge hole that he has left is so hard to bare. When you feel up to it, welcome another into your heart. Lace was needed in another place and is now happy and healthy at the rainbow bridge. Try to remember her in her health, not her last hours. Best wishes and look after yourself xx

This sounds quite a nice way to do it, is this usual? I haven't really been with any of my dogs when they got the injection due to circumstances. Do they usually give a relaxant first? I've been with my dogs when they've passed naturally and I get really panicky I'm worried I'm going to faint or something.

Yes I was thinking having the others there would take our attention away at a time that we really just want to concentrate on him. We are waiting on blood test results today which may help our decision. I'll ask the vet if he will come to us, or maybe get a mobile one if not. Thanks for your thoughts.

My old boy is getting very close to the time we will have to think about giving him his wings last night was a particularly bad night for him getting up and down and I started to actually plan the logistics of it. Do you think it best to bring the other dogs along to the vets while it is happening to say goodbye? Just thinking about this is harrowing for me but I do not want him to be in pain.

Wow, lucky she wasn't hit!

When we got our rescue dog my husband had to speak in a very high voice because she'd cringe and cower every time he spoke to her. Took a long time of him talking like a lady til she came round!

No advice, just wishing you all the best - he is so young. What are the symptoms?
-
So sorry this is the worst bit, is he taking the dog?

So sorry, it's so hard to let them go. She's in a lovely place now, keep remembering all the wonderful times you had together and that dear little face xxx -
I am so sorry, here I have been crying over my own problems all weekend, which are nothing compared to what you have been going through. All I do know is that somewhere, somehow we WILL all meet again. He was sent to you for a purpose and needed to move on. Please accept my deepest sympathy and thoughts at this time.
