I hate that lady!!! I think my kids might say my dogs come first and them second then husband.... They all know their place

One of the vets in my practice said sardines will only give them a shiny coat, not do anything for their joints - yet my usual vet said to feed them sardines for their joints, any one know anything about this? maybe I'll just start them on fish oil capsules ad well.

Thankyou for letting us know the outcome, it's always good to seek other opinions and then weigh up what you want to do. So happy things are progressing well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a long and happy life :)

Awwwww, I love seeing big groups of all different dogs having FUN together. Most I've had at home is 5 dogs at once (amazing how many people complained about alllll the dogs....) anyway I believe they are all better behaved when there are a pack, just seem to fall into place.

The thing is though not everyone who chooses to not desex their dog is responsible, MOST who do not desex do not care if their dog falls pregnant, that is where most of our problems lie - with the irresponsible ones. If someone tells me they are not desexing their dog, and I don't know them, I will also spout all the reasons to desex....

Standard poodle, black, is my dream dog, though i have been thinking borzoi they are so beautiful.... The rotts thread has me looking at them in a new light :) but even though i think i really want my standard poodle i will probably have an indeterminate breed from the pound again, cant go past their sad faces...

I like 1 the best, but I think 2 is better if it's for a card or something as it is a more balanced and elegant pose :) -

Dog Grooming Course Adelaide
CHA replied to The Spencinator's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
This is going back a while now, but I bought Clipping and Grooming your Poodle by Pearl Stone (obviously she'd need a shitzu book) and sat in with a professional groomer a few times. My poodles all came up quite professionally done at home and I loved it This book was my most loved and treasured book along with How to Raise and Train your Poodle back when I was 11 years old..... -
My number one tip - is make sure that the yard is absolutely secure and they cannot get out. Also when people are opening the front door etc. ensure you have an extra eye on the dogs as I found some of mine would try to escape due to the unfamiliar surroundings and stress. Once you've been there a while together and they learn the new routine - they'll be fine.

He's a beautiful boy, you will have many happy memories of him. Don't forget, we are only human and you have done your very best for him and he loved you for it. Don't be too hard on yourself, remember the good times :) a lot of them do become incontinent towards the end, as did my boy, and we cope with it as best we can.

I don't know about the eggs, but i put 2 new cockatiels in my aviary (with the 2 existing ones) and one of my dogs knew they were new and spent some time watching them. He never showed any interest in the existing 2 and didn't see me put the new 2 in the cage - so he just knew things were different in his garden.... The other two dogs had no idea we got new cockatiels.

Thanks for your assistance everyone, dog is fine, no more vomiting, though there is a tail less lizard behind the shed, still active, though not sure if it can survive for long.... This is the bit i don't like about owning dogs.

So sorry for your loss, please don't feel guilty he would have known how much you love him he will now be happy running at rainbow bridge with my dog, and many other much loved companions

My dog started to suffer with hot spots as he got a bit older, i put him on to a raw diet and he didn't get them after that. Best of luck with your dog :)

i don't bait anything, but we live in suburbia, so could have. We did have two very healthy blueys down the side of the shed which we blocked off from the dogs but seems that one of them maybe wandered out across the garden to visit someone else? Or another one has come onto the property. We seem to have one here permanently which we desperately try to keep safe from the dogs, but a terrier is a terrier. What symptoms would she be displaying if the lizard had eaten bait?
-
Does this seem right? Yesterday my terrier came inside with blood all over her, i cleaned her up and ascertained that it wasn't her bleeding. We then found a blue tongue lizards tail, ewwwww, but today she has vomited this morning and just now (I've just got home from work and gave them a dog biccie). She seems ok in herself. Would the lizard be causing her to vomit?

How frightening for you and at such a young age! So happy to hear that she is improving though. My dog had an episode with symptoms that sounded very similar to what you little girl has gone through. She seemed to have some kind of a fit and then her head went to the side and she couldn't move from that position. Got her to the vets for treatment, typically this was the middle of the night (can't really remember what they did as this was a couple of dogs back....) I know we sat up with her for a couple of nights cradling her in our arms because she couldn't unbend, and we had to carry her out to toilet etc. Very frightening. She did go on to have a happy long life after that, but it did seem to be the start of the decline for her. I think she would have been about 13 when this happened (pound dog so never really sure of her age). I hope Lily continues to improve and that this is just a once off :)
