  1. A scapegoat, maybe, but hardly legit. Legit until they defend themselves :D
  2. And then if shit goes wrong you have a legit scapegoat
  3. I make decisions and then backtrack and remake them, then backtrack again and ask someone else for their opinion. I'm terrible
  4. The mistake I (and I'm sure some others have made as well) is getting another dog before making sure your current dog is fully trained. I did that with one of my dogs and it picked up some bad habits from the dog I already had and just made it twice as hard and frustrating as it was with one dog So if your dog is well trained, well behaved and well socialised with both people and other dogs then I don't see why adding another dog would be a bad idea. Most everyone I know on here and in RL have multiple dogs. Multiple dog households are a lot of fun but a lot of work. I have 5 here and there's never a dull moment but you always need to be aware of what's going on and adding another dog can completely change your current dog for a while as it adjusts. When we added Maybe to the pack, Ammo took quite a few weeks before he was back to his old self, he got very put out and that can effect the house dynamics. All these things you have to take into consideration and also the fact that your new dog is very unlikely to act and behave the way your current dog does. It will have its own traits and quirks. My advice is get a dog at the same or lower energy level as your current dog. Get from a reg breeder or reputable rescue so they can help you select the exact dog that would suit your home and lifestyle and unless you're experienced I'd stay away from the less biddable dog breeds or breeds that are more high maintenance behaviourwise. Hope that helps and good luck with your new pup if you decide to get one
  5. Ammo is such a cool name. Thank you. He's a pretty cool dog as well. :D
  6. Ammo does this weird thing where you'll sit on the ground cross legged and he'll put his head in your lap and his butt up in the air and happily sit like that for ages.
  7. I'll still take your opinion about life, the universe and everything.
  8. Well wherever he ends up and whomever he ends up with, I truly hope he has a very good life with them.
  9. It's not with me but my Mum's JRT will chase mosquitoes around her dog pool, she'll jump in and just walk in circles for ages, but the circles are really slow and deliberate...she's weird
  10. Great idea, I might look into it. This rescue was going to be just for black and brindle dogs as they rarely get a look in out this way and there's so many. But I'll make a few calls.
  11. Yep that's on my to do list for next week. Just thought I'd ask people involved here as well.
  12. There's actually no dog rescue in Cootamundra and Canberra is quite far away. We're kind of in a deadzone for rescues and the vet has been doing the cats and smaller dogs but there's no proper dog rescues and people often looking for dogs but scared of getting directly from the pound. May I ask what you mean but "replicate what is already happening"?
  13. I have a few people that have come to me asking if i can be involved in helping to set up a local dog rescue. I said i'd love to help, mainly in administration and public relations and occasionally short term foster care. The thing is I've been asked to source the information we'll need. apart from a 16D what else would we need to start one up? We have about 4-5 people who are dedicated.
  14. Did you ask her about her opinion on other bones. She sounds like a bone nazi.
  15. Debarking would be the answer, in reality, two adult borders with barking issues are a dime a dozen and rescue may be hard to find. Debarking is simple and in this case justified
  16. Guess who's not coming on holiday with me
  17. What's involved. My friend has invited me to hers for a few weeks next year (she'll be in Christchurch) and has said that I can take my kelpie if I like. How much would it cost? Where would the dog fly? Vaccinations? I have no idea what's involved, any quarantine? Thanks
  18. Work out which places allow dogs and which don't. Some go by size as well.
  19. Yep, you can registered your stud prefix, you don't need to own a dog. I registered my prefix before I had a reg breeding dog. I currently only own one reg kelpie of breeding quality and have never bred a litter but it's in my future plans. :)
