Surely they would be chipped and their breeders could be traced? That breed is very rare in Australia. -

The new beds are too soft so you systematically destroy them and then sleep on the picnic table instead

A lot of vets I know don't care if people Byb or not, I suppose it comes down to money and puppies means business. -
Not all my dogs can fit on the lounge, so they sit all over me and I can't move.

Oh ok. It's not a bad idea though. If I was going to start up a rescue I would probably do that.
-
If I were interested in grey rescue as greylvr is then I would probably apply to be a carer for one of these GSN, GAP, Friends of the hounds that Rebanne has mentioned, just so I can get my head around what is involved with the rehab and rehoming of racing greys. Would you be up for something like that? That way it kinda takes the pressure off running your own rescue and during that time you are fostering you can work out what you do and don't like about that rescue and learn the ins and outs and then set up a business/organisation plan that you can implement yourself. That way you've got all the tools, networked with the right people and have a support system.
-
is it AWL that has a fair few greys as well? There's 3 big ones, right?
-
That's a nifty name for a rescue.
-
What is GSN? I know GAP and AWL do greys.

I had a neighbour try that old trick. Truth is they didn't like big dogs. We saw the ranger sitting outside of our house for a couple of days and called to ask, he said there'd been a complaint. We invited him in and apart from one or two barks upon his arrival from the maremma they were quiet and adored him. He checked out the house and kennels and when he realised that we locked them up at night he was quite annoyed by the complaint which stated they barked all night, which wasn't possible. He also noted that they had quite a few yappy little dogs themselves that they had sneaked inside because they knew he was coming. It didn't go any further. I've started keeping a diary now, just in case, because you never know if they'll try something again. I would set up a recording system whilst you're at work so you can make sure that they aren't barking and show it to the ranger or courts to prove what you say is accurate.

The truth is that most of them will. The consumer society far outweighs the carers.

There's breed advocacy and then there's breed blindness. Jerry Lee, just because someone doesn't suggest an SBT isn't a personal attack on you. Of course some staffords will be good at agility, no one is saying they won't be. Everyone has their own opinions and for this particular situation the general consensus is that an SBT would not fit. It's not because of breed prejudice or limited knowledge of the breed, it's because an SBT just wouldn't work in this situation. I would never suggest an SBT for an 11 year old's first training experience and not with the current dogs. She needs a dog that is biddable and easy (staffords require experienced ownership whether you accept that or not), so that she can have a great first experience.

Neither do I. But anything to promote responsible dog ownership.

Today if a cat comes into your yard and your dog kills it, it's bad luck and the owner can do nothing as cats are not allowed to wander just like dogs. I also would say nothing, how do you know what the neighbour might do to your dog as payback. That seems much better. Glad they've tightened the regulations. Some of my friends have had their dogs baited and it's possibly the worst thing that they've been through. People can be jerks if they perceive an imaginary injustice.

Agreed.

When i was little a man around the corner had a cat that would routinely come and tease our neighbour's GSD from the gate post. Our neighbour would chase it off daily and went and spoke to the owner quite a few times to no avail. One day his GSD grabbed the cat off the post and killed it. He had called the council previously asking what would happen if his dog killed the cat, the council said they could take it to court if they wanted to. So he buried the cat and never told the guy. The man who owned the cat didn't even put up 'lost' posters or anything As callas as it sounds, don't say anything. It was her fault and she sounds like the type of person that may make trouble for you.

A few of my FB friends are sharing this picture. One friend is terribly upset about it as she had no idea this was happening. I didn't realise people still had no idea that BYB is wrong. After she saw this picture she vowed never to BYB. I'm glad it got through to her, I didn't even know she was thinking about breeding her dogs. Due to the response of my friends, I encourage people to share this picture.

I adore kelpies but I honestly don't think one would work in the situation described. I'm not a huge fan of gsps but I think they would fit. SBTs are awesome dogs but they're not right for this particular situation imho

Or some people are deadset bogans and ask you what 'tethered' means whilst drinking a beer behind the wheel. We have heaps of pig hunters around here and there are some that couldn't give a shit about their dog's welfare.
