I noticed that out west as well. Cages are becoming more common for working dog people around here now. I think it's fantastic. It probably because prices for working dogs are sky rocketing and they're protecting their investment.

We had a really tolerant BCXACD growing up and she'd put up with so much from kids, hugging her and laying all over her. Then one day our neighbour came over and said that she had bitten their child. We finally got out the truth, apparently the child had deliberately run over her tail with her bike and our turned around and grabbed her on the thigh. The kid had lied at the start, her parents got pretty angry at her for lying and hurting the dog. Kids need good examples and to be shown the right way and corrected when they do it the wrong way. The adults have failed the child and are creating a vicious cycle.

I need to go to Canberra on a Sunday morning, it looks like so much fun. Although Maybe steals every ball...ever.

If I was the owner I would be livid! They not only jeopardised their child but the life of my dog if it got fed up.

What I don't get about that video is that the kid really doesn't want to be 'playing' with the dog.

I lived out west for a while and saw the dumbest thing. A guy threw his dog up on the back of the ute with an empty bucket of fox bait, the dog licked out the bucket and died. It's not just if the dog comes off but what's in the tray as well.

That was the stupidest thing I've ever seen. That kid could have lost his face, kudos to the dog. The parents should be not allowed to ever own a dog. I'm a stickler for watching guests with my dogs, I never take anything for granted.

Here are the two dogs from Coota pound that I'm temp caring over the holidays. Huxley is a JRTX and Donnie is a terrierX. Both are lovely dogs but very confused poor babies. they're starting to get more confident today and Huxley is a bit of a water baby, I don't think I have a picture of him dry :laugh: . Donnie is a little reserved until he gets to know you and then is the sweetest, funniest little dude. I can't wait to see them end up in loving forever homes Huxley and Donnie Huxley Donnie They're so cute. I had to share.

Does it pay for anything, vaccinations etc or just unforseen medical issues?

Yes we had her scanned we have the number You could get a stat dec to say she's yours as PR won't send you the paperwork in a hurry. Lucky isn't a pound round dog she was a private surrender that pr helped get her here Doesn't matter. You can do it with any dog that you are given and whose previous owners are lazy in sending paperwork.

Do you have to pay a gap?

I was warned off pet insurance unless the dog is worth mega money as all the people I've spoken to have gone through similar things. I have a separate "pet account" connected to my normal account and try to keep it topped up so i can pay vaccinations or emergency stuff, my horse is so accident prone and always hurts herself on holidays or long weekends.

Nothing you can do, if it's illegal then it's illegal. Best to pay and count it as a learning experience.

Is she actually chipped? Have pound rounds confirmed she's chipped? Or have you had her scanned?

I like vets that just be quiet. I don't really worry about their beliefs as long as they do right by me and my animals. :)

Hey greylvr, maybe have a break from DOL for a few days to clear your head? I don't think people are going to see eye to eye in a hurry and it will only upset you more.
