I get annoyed though, I swear people need an in-depth psychological test before buying a pet. I just saw this on FB for a 10 week old sharpei puppy that they bought a week or so ago and the ridiculous reason for reselling him. "This is Henry... We bought him for our two sons but they are just too young to know not to play rough." I don't know, maybe you should have tested them with another dog before buying this one or heaven forbid you teach your kids to be gentle. I think I need to stop visiting these buy, swap sell pages and seeing ads for dogs people bought on a whim

I'm disappointed in you and your wonderful impulse control. You were meant to keep one!

Glad they have you!

Sadly people think they have a right to get a puppy without doing any research. I just hope they don't get rid of her in 12-18months like so many people do with high energy working breeds when they realise they actually have to keep the work up.

I see it here all the time and in other areas and 3/4 of the time I see the same dogs that were advertised sitting in the pound. UGH, makes me angry at humanity. -

She was reduced from $250 for quick sale in 1 day. I see it all the time and it's starting to really get to me these last few weeks. -
That actually happened to me once on another website/forum. I was under the impression that you could use photos you found on Google and when I posted it a few days later the owner of the photo came on and asked (very nicely) if I could ad a link under so she could get recognition otherwise she'd request it be taken down.

I just saw the worst ad ever on FB for a 3 yr old staffy. Part of their ad read. "Very loyal and great with kids. When my daughter was sick she slept under her cot for 5 days until she was better. $150" It made me want to cry. -
I recently said no to a person who asked me to knock back the price because they had bills and shipping was expensive. Their email read something like this "I have a house payment coming up and was wondering if you'd take $200 less as transport is also quite expensive." My response was "Sorry but the dog's price is not negotiable (we've discussed this before), perhaps you should look for a dog more local to you if transport is too expensive and wait until you can find a dog in a more suitable price range for your circumstances. Good luck with finding the right dog but mine will not suit your needs. Thanks" I normally have the price of my dogs on my ads, sometimes they're slightly negotiable depending on the dog and the person interested but normally they are not. Having someone keep bringing up the price of the dog and transport always makes me wary about the dog's future.

I just saw that ad -
Reading this I'm so glad we grow our own chickens, rabbits and eggs. Our friends grow beef, lamb and goat and give us offcuts and bones. Those things cost the most I think

Foster Failure

Maybe also has her own song - "I just met you, this is crazy! Here's my number, so call me Maybe!" It was really bad timing that that song was popular when I named her. Everyone thought I liked it  -
Oh Lisa, I'm so sorry. You were a wonderful owner to a wonderful dog.

I currently have 7 dogs and spend an average of $50 a fortnight on raw and working dog food.

Foster Failure

This is Huxley a scruffy terrier mix. He's from Coota pound and was meant to go to JRT Rescue but we decided to take him on trial as he fit in so well, it's been about 6 months and he's still here  It's like we've always owned him. He has some timidity issues but he's just getting better and better each day. He's also hilarious. he fits in well with the rest of the crazies and we adore him :D Here he is with other foster fail,'Maybe' ( although I knew she was a foster fail when i met her in the pound  ) Any guesses on what breeds are in there lol? -
Sable / Blue Merle Matings - Colle And Shelties
mixeduppup replied to BDJ's topic in General Dog Discussion
I know a breeder in WA who just used a clear sable over a merle. Of course there are merle and sable merle puppies resulting in the litter. They openly claimed on Facebook they were going to pet home and desex these puppies.... And whoa and behold.... One is sold to a person in NSW who clearly is breeding for colour. One lilac, One Choc Tri with scoring on one elbow and claims to have "perfect scores", one merle and a blue tri. Now a sable. It is a shame that many of the new people to the breed are only in it to breed colour and charge exorbitant amounts of money for dogs that do not meet the breed standard and who claim well "XYZ" is doing it, what should they do... "Not breed their dogs??" As in most things these days, the almightly dollar is what is dictating breeding, not health, conformation and (un)common sense. YES!!! The people who breed just for markings or colour are just like a lot of paint or coloured horse breeders, they forget everything about the health of the animal and just breed for pretty colours. -
Funny Things You Have Heard About Your Breed...

Hahahaha Our very good working dog slept on the end of my bed and would work her guts out I currently have a wonderful yard dog sleeping on my couch and next week she'll go out and back all day. :D -
What do you mean by that? It could be misconstrued and seen as offensive to a lot of maremma owners and breeders.

Hi guys, I'm having trouble tracking done the bloodlines that are mostly associated with the irish spotting or mismark in kelpies. The reason i ask is because i've met two in the past (currently own one with stationbred kelpies on one side and coogee on the other) and she has a small amount of irish spotting on her neck and seems to work a lot like a collie and I've notice the other two I met worked very similar to her and was wondering if it was just chance or if there's something in it. I'd love to find out the lines associated with irish spotting and meet some of the dogs or speak to the breeders and have a look at their working style. There's a particular bloodline in Aust that is quite well known for producing the irish spots but I can't for the life of me remember what it is.

Here's Ammo doing his best to make my cousin feel at home. I just love this breed and think I will always have one.

Health Help Please - Puppy Ate Putty
mixeduppup replied to Katdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
My friend recently had to pull a piece of wire out of her dog's bottom. It was a big scare for her but he's ok now. She's trying to figure out why it would eat a long piece of wire. -
This as well Whilst upholding the principle of confidentiality, veterinarians must do so within the constraints of the law and with regard to their statutory obligations. Although the reporting of a notifiable disease or breach of animal welfare legislation may jeopardise a veterinarian-client relationship, it should be undertaken as required by the law, in the public interest. When providing evidence as an expert witness, a veterinarian may offer a professional opinion. Such opinion should be confined to areas where the veterinarian has particular expertise and personal experience.
