  1. If I couldn't have helped I would have at least called someone who could with my phone instead of filming it. Where's the humanity?
  2. I LURVE Ammo's tail. And I think Huxley's tail is adorable. He's (best guess) JRT, Schnauzer and acd  but his tail is all scruffy like him.
  3. Two properties/places actually. LGD's are livestock. Who said they must specifically and exclusively guard chooks, goats, or sheep. Dogs can guard and protect dogs. There were four adult dogs on the Nimbin property. Nobody came in, whether there were pups on the ground or not. So here is your chance to set me straight. What do your dogs guard? Is the above correct and they guard each other and/or puppies? Do they have traditional stock they guard? Just quoting so he'll see it :)
  4. Ammo guards my kelpies. Very well may I add and the poultry as well.
  5. Its not claming up. You are on ignore. I don't reply to your posts and with good reason Actually that interests me as well. How do your dogs bond to stock properly if they aren't consistently with them? I wish my place was that green right now!
  6. I fostered a GSD for a while and found that porridge and working dog food really got the weight on her, also chicken wings and eggs.
  7. I remember when I showed Billie how to close the push-doors on our tv cabinet...she quickly figured out how to open them again so of course all we heard for the next fortnight was the click of her opening and closing the doors over and over. Haha i let torque in tonight and she went and put her paw on the closed door...I think I'm creating a monster
  8. As Maremmas are livestock guardians I want my breeder to be well versed and have the parents of my puppy actively guarding livestock or have a background in this. I'd also like to see a well balanced temperament from not only the parents but from the other progeny as well. Working out what is a threat and what isn't and reacting appropriately. I definitely would not want to buy a puppy from someone who had their dogs just as pets and did not have any actively guarding as that is not the purpose of an LGD and any breeder with an LGD should have dogs doing what their named suggests.
  9. It sounds like Tralee wants a white version of the Pyr. I love the Aussie version of the maremmas and they look a lot like the Italian version imho. I'm yet to read anywhere else but here in Tralee's posts to back up his claims that these big bulky dogs with almond eyes are in fact being bred in Italy and if they are, so be it. We have our Australian strain, just like America has their own strain. Dogs will naturally evolve to suit the environment they're working in but it doesn't make them any less of a maremma. Having a huge woolly dog wit fading nose in the hot Australian summer on a sheep property is not ideal.
  10. It's Poland my cat. He was being pretty good for that, he's usually chewing on her tail or legs during training sessions
  11. No harm in asking but I wouldn't as it wasn't his fault.
  12. Haha. Mum said that one day she's going to lock me out of the house
  13. I decided to teach Torque a trick instead of being productive. She was super quick. It only took 10 minutes and then I had to get back to my studying. Sometimes I wish she was a slow learner lol
  14. Haha! She reminds me of my old dog Dawny, you couldn't swim with her because she'd swim at you with those feet
  15. Some dogs do have small infections with stitches, and being around his mouth that risk increases. Most will clear up on their own and for some ti looks infected but is just the normal healing process for that area of skin, but being around his mouth if you're concerned at all call and book an appointment for today or tomorrow.
  16. I'd also keep an eye out for people reporting their lost dog and call them with the information you know.
  17. Local council where the rescue is registered
  18. Do you need 16Ds in QLD? if so you can report them to the local government/council as breaking the law.
  19. Aw, what beauties.... Wonder if she has contacted her breeder tho? At least being desexed they won't end up in a puppy farm. yeah, how cute are they!
  20. Deplorable Did you see the ad below? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/wattle-grove/dogs-puppies/two-king-charles-cavalier-spaniels-pure-bred-gentle-friendly/1018667801
  21. A few of them have been working in the veterinary industry and one occasionally helped conduct tests but not often. The rest have been general public meeting an LGD. It's true, unless you really spend time learning to read it and experience it first hand many people would not understand much of what a dog is really saying.
  22. Well LGDs are naturally standoffish and many people I have met have considered it to be fear.
  23. I know that quite a few people read LGDs wrong out of the pound so I think it's important to have people that are familiar with at least the basics of most breeds so they understand what is normal.
  24. I wonder how many LGDs would fair well without breed specific knowledge
