I think she needs a reality check and to know exactly where her words can lead her.

I'd report that. I personally wouldn't want someone like that working in the legal field and representing my generation. Especially bad taste considering one of their much loved volunteers has just passed away in tragic circumstances. BAD taste

Pot, meet kettle. LOL, well I'm 58 kilos, work full time and am also studying. I haven't yet had a hairy chin but I'm sure in about 20 years it will happen. You can get wax for that anyway

There is but no one can guarantee a dog kid proof and would be silly to do so.

I really don't think breed has anything to do with it, I think it's more temperament. I've seen plenty of nippy ACD's (I know the breed quite well) but also plenty of intolerant dogs of other breeds. I grew up with an ACDX along with many other working breeds and their crosses. She was a great dog but was one of the first to get pissed if a toddler poked her or got in her face. The Rhodesian Ridgeback cross working mix was possibly the best toddler sitter ever, she would let kids ride her and drag her around and annoy her all day and seemed to revel in it. It's more to do with the individual dog than the breed as I've met plenty of ridge mixes that would never let a kid do what we did to ours  .

Interesting Read About Vets And Infectious Diseases
mixeduppup replied to tdierikx's topic in In The News
We get slobber on our hands all the time, that's why we're always f10ing the phone, light switches, doorknobs and any common surface. I've only ever seen a vet operate without gloves once and they were English and speyed from the side... -
ACDs can be notoriously nippy with young children. The ones I've known have had varied temps but I've met very few that I would trust with toddlers, they were all working lines though.

I'm going to order leather collars with brass name tags engraved :D

Etsy has the best id tags ever

When i was a Toddler we had a doberman and he was apparently the most patient dog. When I was about 3 we owned working dogs and working dog crosses. The border collies were always the most nippy and intolerant from my experience. My friend has 2 toddlers and has a bullterrier and he is amazing with them. My other friends have a golden retriever and he is completely wonderful.

Dogs have different blood types, however the great thing is they don't develop antibodies until the second transfusion so you can mix blood groups with no ill effects in an emergency situation.
-
We chose to sedate/anaesthetise Ammo as it was his first time and he was a bit unsure, he was very lightly sedated and woke up and was fine. But yes, ideal candidates should be super calm and relaxed so that sedation is not needed at all.
-
Yes. about 45% of dogs have the same blood type or are universal donors. the great thing about dogs blood types is that they don't develop antibodies until after the first donation so even if it isn't a match it will still do the job :)

Must be fully vaccinated and heartwormed, over 25kgs and 18 months or over and it good health. :)
-
We're 81.50 with a consult. Cheaper if you bring a whole litter or bunch of dogs in as a group.

Today Ammo became a first time blood donor, we had a situation arise that needed a dog to give blood and we had none available. So I ran home and grabbed Ammo and brought him back and he became a blood donor. It's the best feeling to be able to assist in helping save another dog's life by using your own dog. I highly recommend people with dogs over 25kgs in good health consider it. Ammo bounced back fine and was even eating a bit of pizza half an hour afterward

Parents Teaching Their Children How To Approach Dogs
mixeduppup replied to mantis's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've had kids run straight up to my dog that have supposedly been raised by experienced dog breeders or trainers. It always baffles me. They say in one breath that they breed and compete and yet their child is right in my dog's face without so much as a 'hello'. I had one kid froma working dog home just grab my dog's leash from me. I grabbed it back and told her to ask first, she had no idea why. -
Vanish preen oxiaction is FANTASTIC!

How was it buried? Sometimes people will do that to occupy their dogs. Watch your dog carefully, and get it tested at the vet if you're worried. If you find anything then take the test results to the local council that control the park

Awesome, thank you! Belconnen would probably be closest

Could someone send me the details of the Canberra flyball club please?
-
I wonder if a 2 hour trip to Canberra maybe even every fortnight would be worth it?
-
She asked me if the JRT liked to chase balls and I said no not really and then she suggested I see if I can train her to. I said my kelpie like balls and was ball obsessed and that's when she said the kelpie was too big. I just misunderstood and assumed she meant for all flyball in general :)
