Previously Trained In Tracking/finder Dog?
mixeduppup replied to mixeduppup's topic in General Dog Discussion
When I first got her she would go at any dog if it growled, even in play but after some intensive work she gets on well with everyone now and is a regular at obedience. She's the most intense dog I've ever owned. Super focused and just driven. Possible GSD in there but the coat is really wavy and coarse, I'll try to find a better photo of it. -
Beautiful dogs as far as I know. You can find more info in here http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/107387-sighthounds/page__st__6105

Previously Trained In Tracking/finder Dog?

Here's the most recent one I have, not a great shot of the fur on her back but it's longer and wiry compared to the rest of her. -

I think she's kelpie cross something with a weird wirey coat as she has longer wire type hair on her back and tail, almost like hackles, they make her look like a coyote. She's the size of a kelpie. -
Previously Trained In Tracking/finder Dog?

We've put her toy hidden in an acre and given her the instruction "where is it" and she'll put her nose down and search until she finds it. I'll test her out doing that. -
I'm starting to think that Maybe my ex poundie may have been trained in tracking. Whenever I walk her her nose goes straight down and she will not raise it again, constantly sniffing and searching almost. Then at the start of every roadway and block she'll mark as she walks. Then occasionally she'll stand in pointer position for ages, tail straight one leg lifted and I have to break her focus and she goes back to sniffing. I've taken her out to properties on acreage offlead and she does the same thing, but she'll follow where she has marked. She also deliberately hides her toys herself and will then seek them out. She's even put them int he duck pond and put her head under and searched for it. The thing is, I don't know much about tracking at all so I have no idea how to utilise this or test to see if she has or not? One of my friends thought she may have been a 'finder' dog for a pigging team, which is possible as it's a big pigging area around here. But how do I test to see if she is?

New Survey For Dog, Cat, Bird And Rabbit Owners

Do they all go on itty bitty little leashes? With tiny individual balls of yarn as rewards. Learning itty bitty kitty tricks? Like how to appropriately position yourself in super cute places like "The hallway at midnight" and "the kitchen during dinner time" And there's probably an entire portion devoted to being clever on camera so their videos end up going viral on YouTube ;) Not to mention how to look like idiots for all the photos that turn into LOLs -

I wish i'd known about kitten school! -
Well you're the one who brought up jorts...that was a low blow.
-
If you make your band breed wear jorts I will report you to the RSPCA!
-
I'm pretty sure all the No Doubt band breeds should be eradicated.

Hi Blackjaq, you are right in saying they aren't a common fighting breed (my mistake) but sadly they are being used more and more in fighting rings as their strength and power is becoming apparent to the wrong people
-
I worked in a shelter environment for a while and saw fighters. It was horrible. Most come from underground byb and the like. I don't know if I've ever seen a champion fighting dog. All I know is most of them were seriously messed up
-
I didn't know that about fighters. Is it in certain areas of the US? as I was in an area where just about every bullbreed fighter or not was cropped. Some even home done botch jobs
-
Dog fighting is quite common in the states and dogos and pitties are commonly used. They remove the ears to make it harder for the other dog to grab onto the dog. This is where it originally stemmed from anyway. They also used in bore hunting, so owners crop their ears for that reason as well.
-
Yup they're on the banned breeds listing. I met a few in the states, very people friendly but all I met were dog aggressive. Could have been a coincidence.
-
I met a crossbreed with a docked tail, apparently it was a shocking tail splitter and they opted for docking. It was very cute and his little knobby tail would wag constantly still.
-
I don't see any dingo. I see lab, shepherd and a touch of kelpie. Kelpies come in cream too.

Does Anyone Want A Sketch Done Of Their Furball?
mixeduppup replied to corie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh me! Sorry the pic of her is a bit shoddy but it's the best one of her head. -
I believe some dogs can be genetically predisposed to aggression and I've met a few like that that belonged to other people but most with experienced handling can be fine. I've only met a handful that didn't respond to proper training and the breeder or owner chose to euth. So yes, I think dogs can be genetically wired to be 'mean' (for want of a better word) but I hardly think that is an excuse when I've seen dogs that were born with the same attitude get put into the right home and managed correctly live lives free of judgment.
