  1. So is it constant diarrhea or just after eating the first one or two bowls?
  2. Is she sick in any other way? Vomiting? Listless? Tender belly? Quite a lot of people blame the food but the puppy has a bug of some kind. I would take her to the vet to be sure. Is she vaccinated?
  3. We used to hunt and feed roo to the dogs when we lived out west. They needed a heap of it to do well on as they worked a lot and it just didn't have enough energy in it. We found old sheep or goats to be a better option. Mutton or lamb is a good way to go, especially if your dog has trouble keeping weight on and doesn't eat a lot in one sitting.
  4. If you cut it you could cause a bit pf a phobia due to pain, the bleeding will stop eventually but if the vet does it they can stop the bleeding with the proper powder straight away. If you're concerned then take him in. My dogs have done this before. I just cut it off and applied pressure until the bleeding stops but if you're unsure or not confident then don't do it yourself.
  5. I don't care about the size of the dog. Letting Nacho sleep on the bed is hardly a bad thing
  6. I've just found that a lot of dogs are more conscious of your personal space and their personal space. Whilst others are "let me climb inside your face because laying with my head on your nose is just not close enough"
  7. The blanket wouldn't work for Maybe. I've taught her to keep everything on her head
  8. Glad human IQ tests aren't the same. I'd stay under the blanket on purpose.
  9. Doubtful a ferret would attack a large goat and forego the chickens.
  10. sounds like a fox as a dog would normally do more damage.
  11. The best thing to do is get one and see. It's hard to know without seeing the dog behave.
  12. Mine does this too. She's speshal Must be an Aussie thing lol
  13. My dog's a dope because she does stuff without thinking and is a creature of habit. For instance earlier today i had her jumping on top of the bin, a few hours later I went to put something in the bin and she slammed into the half open lid then fell on her back. *facepalm*
  14. Miniature chihuahuas don't exist. There's just Chihuahuas.
  15. aww cute. Fennec foxes are banned as pets everywhere. They are highly endangered. They are not normal European foxes.
  16. I used to do it with the kelpies until i had a bad fall, now I have to find a springer that can attach to a vintage bike.
  17. I take it you haven't had specialist surgery done on any of yours recently, that amount is not unusual these days. Although if I was paying someone else's bill I would have asked for a second opinion and quote. Me too. Vets vary in surgery costs and some vets opt for surgery whilst some others opt for different treatments (if justifiable) I definitely would be forking out 4K without getting a second opinion and legal advice.
  18. The pedigree dog I own here, bred by a very well known and respected kelpie stud has way more issues than my rescue dogs. She has had them since she first arrived (8 weeks old) and even though they've gotten better they've definitely not gone away. I believe it's the individual dog and not whether it is a rescue or not (a lot of the time anyway)
  19. flame suit on but there was only one that appealed to me, a couple that left me cold, and the rest meh. I'm sure they are the right dogs for their owners but they are not right for me. So what I got out of that is, if I couldn't get the breed I want I wouldn't get a dog. Which surprised me a bit after owning them for over 30 years. Same here, there is only one, maybe two of those dogs that hold any appeal at all for me. They are the two that look purebred and I happen to like working dogs but the average pet owner is not after a working bred dog. They want a small, easy to manage, pretty, fluffy dog in many cases and these are the only ones that are always very easy to rehome and therefore tend not to be dumped in the first place. Most Sydney and many country pounds have at least 80% bull breeds and I would never buy one of those, even if it meant I could not have a dog. The Sydney pounds have very few working bred dogs, unlike the rural ones and I find it shameful that so many working dogs end up in shelters these days. The farmers should take responsibility for any puppies born on their properties, not dump them in the pound. They used to shoot unwanted dogs, not leave them in a pound for them to put down instead. Either way the dogs end up dead. I coordinate rescue for 3 rural pounds and ALL working dogs from those pounds have been rescued or rehomed. The only dogs not rehomed are dangerous dogs or dogs that are very sick. There's a place for almost most every dog if given enough time.
