  1. Going by what was said and described by my friends, the kids would have to climb the gate and lean in pretty far to unclip the gate, so hopefully that won't happen during the interim. I told them they needed to work something out asap.
  2. PL can you please keep the defending of your choice to buy a BYB JS in your own thread and stop derailing this one. I understand that you are trying to get your point across but your thread is back THATAWAY *points left* Cheers
  3. They're not reporting it so far. I think my friends were more concerned that they might mention it to someone that would report it.
  4. They've gone to the hardware today to look at different chains and locks. I asked them about their current lock and apparently you have to reach a good way into the yard and unclip it from the inside of the fence and it's about 5-6ft up, so it should be child safe until they get the proper locks. Thank everyone.
  5. The person who calls 5 times after 6pm on a Sunday desperate to get a puppy, will then have bought another one by the time you call back at 12pm Monday. The level of enthusiasm and need to get the puppy ASAP is directly proportional to the likelihood that they'll not end up getting the dog.
  6. This was going through Glenfield pound not long ago, quite a few dogs had it.
  7. I'm heading there this afternoon as there's a little maltX girl who is very scared apparently. Hopefully she's adoptable.
  8. Gastro, parvo, kennel cough, some kind of virus or infection or beginning of tick paralysis (depending on where you are)
  9. Because of her age i'd definitely take her right in. It's probably something easy to fix and you're worrying for nothing. Let us know how she goes please.
  10. What breed is she? how large etc? how old? Don't worry, the vet doesn't mean euthanasia, it just means that you can get the answers and stop her obvious discomfort. So sorry about your other boy
  11. They live in a high crime area (part of the reason they got the larger type dog, they rescued him and he's a big part of their family as well) hence the reason their locks were cut off. Their yard isn't that easy to access they have a front yard and then the back yard. The front yard has a high pool fencing gate and 6ft high pool fencing (like the bar kind, don't know the name) and is only unlocked when they're home. The back yard has a very tall kind of farm game but smaller mesh and high with colourbond fencing all the way around. The gate is the only access in and out. I haven't visited for a while but i doubt it's changed much.
  12. Wait until she's a bit older and a bit bigger as Berners get quite large and she's at a really crucial growth stage and damage from play could end in pain and surgery. Not worth it.
  13. I might tell them to get a deadlock for the gate as they've tried padlocking and people keep cutting the locks. Thank you
  14. I'm thinking that maybe they were just old friends and thought they knew the dog well enough and wanted to go to the backdoor as their house is big and they spend most of their time in the back rooms. They aren't the kind of people to befriend untrustworthy types.
  15. The sign says "Don't enter back yard" The owners were home but were inside, they didn't hear the car and no one tried to go to the front first.
  16. I just spoke to them, their friends said they were stupid and thought the dog wasn't home or out for a walk as they rattled the gate and he didn't come around. I've met the dog on a number of occasions, he's a big beautiful boy with impeccable manners but is very territorial when he's not with his owners and on his turf. They did try padlocks but in the area they live the padlocks were cut twice, no one actually got past the gate as the dog heard them cut the locks and came pelting round the side. That's when they put the sign up. Everyone is very aware of the dog and the rules surrounding him, as they pretty much keep to themselves and have had the same friends for years.
  17. I have friends that live up Newcastle area and they have a GSDX desexed male who is very protective of their yard. They have friends who visit quite often an know the rules, no one enters the backyard whether you know the dog or not, come to the front door or window and knock. For some reason their friends decided to come into the backyard with no one knowing or giving warning and the dog came running around the side of the house and bit them, apparently they had to go to the dr to get one of the wounds seen to. Their friends were told numerous times not to go into the yard because he was protective and would maybe bite them, they did it any way. They have a sign up that says don't enter back yard. Could they get in trouble for this? I told them I didn't think so. The dog in question is usually a saint if they're there, but takes his guarding very seriously.
  18. Let's get back onto the topic of purebreds and not justifying individual dogs and how their owners bred them.
  19. I know what you mean, I was given my maremma and sometimes I look at him and wonder.
  20. Ok thank you. I didn't realise that was an option. From now on I will be the gumtree vigilante lol
  21. You are the one that said you sent a very abrupt/rude email. My idea of abrupt and rude isn't anyone else's, i showed a few people the email and they're like "You're so nice, you can't be rude lol" So I guess it wasn't.
