What breeds are they, Rozzie?

That's kind of offensive.

I would like the pound to make desexing a necessity to adopt. I would like more footpaths so you don't have to walk the dog on the curb. poo bags and more bins placed out of the main street areas. Also a secure all day off lead park.

She has been used in the paddocks and yards to bring the sheep in but she couldn't push the sheep up the shoot/race, which is pretty important in moving sheep around. The dogs run on top of the sheep and then get down and run back underneath, this pushes the sheep up the race and gets them all in, it can be anything from loading them onto a truck to lamb marking but it's pretty important to have a dog that can do it for you. What a great reply, mixeduppup. I realised backing had to do with moving the sheep along, but you have put it so clearly. I forgot to say congratulations to you, too. Thanks very much. :)

Yes she's very curly, her tail is like a big puff ball. Mum thinks BC my sister is leaning towards poodle lol

Hehe, it's a heliotrope moth. These photos are a couple of years old and my camera is broken that took them. I actually cried when it broke because I loved the macro photos it took. Now I have a crappy one

It depends who adopts it. If people with experience give it a home I don't see a problem. I know quite a few people with deaf dogs, I even know someone who is training a deaf coolie to work sheep. Rehoming a deaf dog is not unethical in my opinion.

Best Way To Get Dog Hair Off The Couch!

We use the rubber gloves but we now have the couches covered in old sheets for a few weeks lol -

Maybe is finally backing properly! She's been doing it on and off but not consistently but she's finally doing it reliably, she's also going through really well! Hoping for yard dog trials early next year! From a crazy rescue dog to a brilliant yard dog, so proud!

My JRT will eat imaginary treats, he's very easy to train. He chews and swallows and looks at you for more, it's rather amusing. I didn't think JRTs were renowned for their piggish behaviour.

I'm a lady!

I hear many people refer to certain breeds as being highly food motivated or pigs. Some common breeds are Beagles and Labs. Even some trainers will say that one breed is much more motivated by food or piggish than another. Is this true? I have a kelpie and JRT that will eat cardboard. I have looked after a lab that had to be encouraged to eat every meal and another lab that absorbed calories from his surroundings. But I've known many dogs of non-piggish breeds that are highly food motivated. The worst pig of a dog I ever met was a Border Collie. So is this a fallacy? Piggish breeds or food motivated breeds? I have had experience mostly with working dogs and staffy types, most of which LOVED their food. Do you take offence when your breed is referred to as a pig? Is it generalizing an entire breed and pigeonholing? "Oh your dog is a beagle, it must love its food". Just thought I'd ask

Making The Transition Easier For Her!
mixeduppup replied to MsDani's topic in General Dog Discussion
Huge femur bone lol, just get rid of excess fat. Hours of entertainment -
Technically the dog was out of control and your dog was defending its property, as long as your dog remained on your property the whole time I think it should be fine. I know someone who had a similar experience when a dog that lived up the road came onto their property and their dog bit it. I'm pretty sure the council fined the people who's dog was bitten as it was not on its property. I wouldn't pay a cent, that's admitting liability.

Maybe you could offer to foster another small breed puppy to see if you like the idea and if your dog likes the idea?

Post the photos and we'll help you decide

I have had so many people try to pat my big boy, even when it's obvious he's trying to avoid them. I don't know how many times I've had to tell people to let him approach them and if he doesn't they shouldn't take it personally. They just want to pat all the dogs. and my JRT is more like this

Yes, Poms are possibly the cutest puppies EVER! Photos will be demanded, at least 10 per day.

Haha Maybe is like Summer but a hundred times worse, she actually gets ignored for being too pushy with wanting affection, she tried to push her head through your crossed arms, she's very strong lol.

I have 4 here right now, one is mum's one belongs to everyone now lol, and two are mine. I think as long as all the dogs are balanced and you can give them all they need both mentally and physically then there's no reason to not have two, but in saying that if the dogs seems happy by itself with you then there's no reason to add another for the sake of it.

MUP - you aren't seriously surprised at the deterioration of this thread are you? Asking what is a purebred? I had hope at the beginning, there seemed to be some really good answers and then half way through it kinds all went to hell in handbasket lol
