So sorry that this has happened. *hugs* I'm sure you'll find her a beautiful home

In NSW I'm pretty sure they can enter a yard but need police presence to enter a house

I've worked int he Horse industry for years and I've seen a disturbing trend not only in BYB but for some studs as well. They're starting to breed for colour instead of type and soundness. Conformation goes out the window if two horses will breed a nice colour. They're providing a popular colour rather than a sound horse. It's all over the board, not just in dogs unfortunately. People are trying to better the breed or at least keep the breed stable and then money hungry "breeders" come in and produce a crappy version but a pretty colour and the breed/type just keeps taking steps back.

Not many around, I wonder who bred them, they might not have any idea their dogs are being sold. -
Stop with the swear words, before someome reports you  I don't like baked beans either, but jeeeeez it's hardly a swear word Heinz is a proper noun, can't possibly be a swear word lmao.

Warning To Anyone Who Goes To St Ives Showground

I'm so sorry that happened to Riddick and you, I sincerely hope you get justice. -
Well see the dog in my avatar. When I first got him he was a light red colour with tan points, as he matured he got darker and darker. Now he has black hair all over his back and he looks almost mahogany in colour. His mum was black and his dad was black with slight tan markings and his litter mates were all black except for one pure red one. Do you think he'll get more and more black as he gets older? (I'd post photos of his coat, but he's busy mustering up in Queensland)

With working kelpies it's all about breeding all round balanced dogs with a strong work ethic, biddability, good steady temp, good structure and the ability to "turn off". You don't want a dog that is constantly manic about working as those dogs usually don't perform as well as dogs with a calmer disposition. It depends on the line of dogs and what you want them to do but some people breed them to have more force and less eye, others breed for good eye and presence, some breed for dogs that like to work close, with bark and back and others breed for dogs that work wide. The thing that you try not to breed and this goes for everyone from huge kelpie stud to tiny ones is a slow starting dog, most handlers don't have time to wait 10-12months for a dog to kick into gear. If a dog hasn't started showing a good amount of natural instinct by 6-7 months a lot of handlers will avoid that line again. Sometimes though it's worth hanging onto a slow starter as they can surprise you when they do start, and patience can pay off. Colour isn't a huge concern to most breeders and if two dogs have skills that complement each other and are of good temperament and sound structure then they will usually be bred, as ability to work goes before all else in the WKC. Also in the ANKC pricked ears are a must for kelpies but in the WKC although pricked ears are preferred, if a dog is a good worker, but has flopped ears it will still be bred. Hope that helps.

My maremma is very tolerant and gentle with pups, yet with the older dogs he's quite boisterous and full on. Instead of growling if they do something wrong like try to steal his food, he'll just put a paw on them and they can't move lol. The Jack Russel is a jerk no matter what age they are and the kelpies are slightly more tolerant.

This is great, it's not that hard to understand once someone breaks it down for you, still studying up though, it's very interesting

Have you seen the ad? I'd work quick as pig hunters are always trawling that page. Do you want the link or do you know where it is? -

I gave her the information and she's emailing great dane rescue right now. Crossing my fingers -
There's a lady giving away her blue male great dane on a FB dog page. This area is known for pigging and I'm worried he'll be snapped up. Can anyone help her rehome him or take him? I'll link you to the page in a pm if you can. Thanks

I'm starting that now, my girl won't be ready for ages but I want to have a few good dogs in the wings. I am very happy for you. Congrats!

That's a shame, I think tan points are so attractive. I've never seen a red and tan show line kelpie only the red or chocolate as they're called and pure black. Seems a shame since the orginal kelpies had tan points.
-
Can you get red and tan in show line kelpies or is that a working colour?
-
Does she shed more than your Black and Tan?
-
That's great thank you. I shall now spend all day reading up on colour genetics instead of doing my assignment lol
-
I plan to. I emailed the WKC yesterday asking for info on colour genetics and that's why I'm doing research. Although I'm a black and tan groupie so my pups will all end up being that colour hopefully lol. I don't think my bitch has any red in her lineage at all and definitely no dilutes. So I'll make sure I do lots of research and then check whichever dog I choose colour background as well.

Yellow, of course. :D What a good choice, here's a flower for your effort

I did research for a friend once and asked around and people suggested Melbourne every time. That was a while ago though.

Thanks Jules :)

I own a WKC stud but am yet to breed any dogs. I've had pups (that I've bought and other people's that I've raised) and trained. Also colour genetics aren't a big priority in working dogs.
