A Question For The Rescue People
mixeduppup replied to a topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
It's not rescuing, it's buying. By buying you give the money to the very people who bought the puppy or bred the puppy and they are able to pay their bills and keeping business so they can buy more puppies that others can then "rescue". People who buy puppies are financing the very core and chief buyer and provider of Puppy Mill puppies. If they want to rescue the puppy, wait until it gets to old and ends up in a shelter and then go and get it. -
We've got poo bags galore and 2 charged cameras. EXCITING!

My vet friend just put a warning on her FB about Yesterday today tomorrow (Brunfelsia) and how poisonous it is for dogs.
-
Hahaha I've only ever been to an offlead park once, so it should be fun and new experience. If you hear someone Yelling "Maybe be quiet" and "Torque Here" every five seconds, that's me lol
-
That would be fantastic. Probably around 4 maybe a bit after. I'm going with my friend so you'll see two crazy ladies with an assortment of excited dogs lol. We'll head on out to Belconnen which would be easier any way and it's only to let them have a good run :)
-
Casey sounds great! Hopefully we'll head to that one depending on time and where we are.
-
Oooo which one has the agility equipment? She said where going near Ford Way over North Side.

I'm headed to Canberra tomorrow and my friend is coming, we've decided to take her two and two of mine for the ride as they need to get out and find a nice offlead dog park. Which ones would you suggest for 4 well socialised dogs all young. A Dogue, a mini foxy and 2 kelpies.

mixeduppup replied to Tazar's topic in General Dog Discussion
there's also Dominance aggression and territorial aggression which are not based on fear. -

Testosterone - How Long Till Levels Drop After Desexing?
mixeduppup replied to Tazar's topic in General Dog Discussion
Two different stories. I had my Maremma done at 12 weeks and he's been a beautiful boy ever since. Did my JRT at 12 weeks and he's a sexual deviate I swear. He humps every other dog's head if he can and when I was away i left him with a friend and apparently he tied for a good 20 mins with her girl. He's had them completely removed but he shows no difference at all. -

What type of behaviour modification? It can be up to 12 weeks to reap the full benefits of desexing for some dogs. My vet said it's about 50% testosterone drop but if the behaviour is due to bad temp or behavioural issues then it won't make much difference, just a bit easier to control sometimes. -
You need to get yourself some reindeer and start a new trend!

My dogs burn bones if they're a bit bony as it helps them decay so they can get the meat off easier. Burying is good for them but not so great for your garden :)
-
I love seeing the different styles of Koolies. I think this is why the WKC was created, so that the working dogs could be just that and look like anything, floppy ears, too small, too tall etc and the show dogs stayed true to type.

Hoping you find the puppy safe and well.

Could be diabetes or an infection. I'd get him to the vet sooner rather than later for an ultrasound and bloods.

Training The "out" - Advice Appreciated.
mixeduppup replied to Wobbly's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I just simply offered her the other ball and I waited until i dropped him and then said "drop it" and removed both the balls and gave her some chicken. it's effective enough for me and I get the toys off her now but she's very easy to train and very focused on pleasing, I'm not sure about your dog and it's trainability. -
If you want to be a smart arse it is a good idea to get your facts right first! And mixeduppup for your info seeing as you were not around, I lost a young dog to poisoning so do not find this subject an amusing one! My apologies. I'm sorry that happened. I shouldn't have done that
-
Hahahaha that was my fault, here I was envisioning this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wandering_Jew You learn something new every day

Maybe came to me ball obsessed and i had a similar issue, I used two balls (the whole eyes are bigger than your belly thing) she'd go to grab the other ball and drop the ball she had and I'd grab both and say "drop it" it took a while but she's pretty good now, as soon as I touch the toy in her mouth she'll release hold. Although she can be very sneaky and stay just out of reach some days (brat) -
Guess it depends on if you're in Germany or Australia I suppose a wandering Jew could kill a dog if they chose, but I doubt it's common
-
It can give them really bad allergic skin reactions and eye allergies but I've never heard of it killing a dog. And it's Wandering Dew not Jew, for future reference
