I recently took the time to read this. It's a thesis written by a Harvard student titled "why confused consumers feed their pets ring dings and Krispy kremes" I thought it was interesting and I enjoyed it, even though it took me a while. So thought I'd share here and if people want to read it they can. http://leda.law.harvard.edu/leda/data/784/Patrick06.html

If people knew what it meant, I might bother to use it. I think the problem with the general public these days it's that "if there is a dog in public, then is MUST be friendly and it needs to be petted" which we all know is not true. My girl is anxious, she doesnt need a muzzle, she is absolutely fine if people don't approach her, but people tend to get offended if I say "you can't pet my dog" A yellow ribbon could save a lot of time and potential offending people on my part. I should be able to take my dog out for a coffee with me if I want without having to fend everyone off. Yellow ribbon is a good idea! I think.

I'm coming too! I'll see everyone there :-)

Oh we had them back in nz, called the AnP show. Exciting! I'll have to have a look, I know food and animals will dominate it for me though. Maybe its a bad idea, I'll come home fat and wanting a million pets. Lol.

That foal is so cute I nearly died. I am gonna ask a stupid question here, royal show? Is it like a gigantic dog show? Still new here lol
-
Great :-) weather permitting I will be there! She needs a good run, I thought she would be tired after this afternoon with Steph but nope, still wanted to play fetch when we got home.
-
I am keen :-) is it the rockingham beach by the point?
-
Taking Indie out to Stephs' tomorrow at 2pm, this will be interesting!
-
Oh cool that's great :-) what days is it on? That sounds exciting even though indie is not the dog I hope to use. Is there age restrictions for the dogs? Sorry might be stupid question lol. Great thanks, oh the thought of taking on an Aussie puppy is somewhat terrifying lol.

Sorry I haven't read the entire thread, but does she want to stud a dog without showing him? Would she pay for all health tests and stuff as well?

Last two orders I have had from pookinuk have been messy. Not in stock and didnt bother to contact me, my other order was missing some things and I emailed them and havnt heard back so yeah... Not happy! Thanks all I will look into those sites. Problem is I am in WA and some places charge more to ship here.
-
As I'm pretty new to the country I don't really know the best/cheapest place to get dog supplies. I am feeding indie TOTW and have been getting it from pookinuk but I have been having trouble with them lately and I also had crap service with paws for life. Can anyone recommend a good site to get food off that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for shipping?Slowly switching to prey model raw so it won't be a problem but just wanted to know for now?

Yeah it's ok, I understand she is probably a busy lady with all the stuff she does! Yup if you could let me know that would be great :-)While I am here are there much more Aussie breeders here in WA that are good? I am looking into spending a bit more time with the breed so I can make the right choice for future dogs and breeders etc. Edit, man I can not get the quote thing to work properly lol.
-
Yeah indie isn't really a full on play kind of dog she just circles and herds with the occasional body checking going on. She can be a bully sometimes. A meet up would be great nonetheless as I don't know many people here anyway. Haha yeah I contacted her but never heard back, that's ok though. I can always go through the club or ask the Belgian people I know here. Oh she just had puppies?! It's lucky I didn't know about that lol. All In good time! I might turn up and have a look when it starts again if I can. Need to get my butt to agility as well lol.

Is that Steph Gibson your talking about? I emailed her through her website but I think I came across a bit creepy/weird lol. I have done some Aussie breeder stalking after I fell in love with them in NZ so if it's not a belgian next its an aussie :-) and there seem to be a few breeders here in WA. I call indie my pretty retard as she is a pretty dog but she is an ugly Belgian lol. Man that sounds horrible but people that show dogs will get what I mean lol. Haha I don't think any training of any sort is on tonight unless your a duck!

Hi Weasels, Cool that's pretty close to me I am in Rockingham. Lol I have about a million questions! I kind of want to shadow someone to get the feel of it but I don't want to creep people out haha. I am really interested but no idea where to begin or if my current dog even has the temperament to do it. Showing and agility I have all the contacts in the world, but herding, not so much. So where does a beginner start? Thanks :-) she is a special one alright, finally got on the lap top so I could attach some photos :) here she is!
-
Lol from what I have seen I would be feeling pretty ripped off right about now! Lucky indie is okay with storms or I'd have a wreck of a dog lol.
-
Thanks, it's been great so far! Though we got caught up in the big storm a couple months back and had power out for a while. It was quite exciting! The animals love it here, indie has a blast at the beaches. Thanks, I'm pretty new to it all so I'd like to get a handle on it before my next dog is due lol. Haha yeah people told me it was sunny all the time here :-P but it has rained a fair bit. I'll get over in though. Cool cant wait for next meet up! I am slowly switching indie to raw and I've already noticed a spike in her energy levels, hard to tire her out by myself now so she needs some dogs to chase!

Just thought I'd say hi to all the WA people in here :-) Moved from NZ not long ago with my Terv Indie, my cat and my husband of course. Hoping to get into herding among other things with my next dog so if someone could point me in the right direction that'd be great! Having trouble finding indie some doggie friends so if anyone ever wants a play I'd love to be included!
