pet shops really depress me, especially when I see ACDs or huskies in the window and thinking those puppy buyers have no idea what they are on for And then to see someone try and sell an Aussie thats not an aussie makes me mad (love aussies to bits). If I were to ever see a belgian shepherd in a pet shop window I would most likely flip out and absolutely lose it. I was at a dog park a while back and someone said" oh what breed is your dog" , I replied with belgian shepherd, they said "oh so is mine!"..... Um, no its not, it's a fat GSD mix. Idiot. There were white shepherds at the PP round the corner from me with huge round bellies and seriously red skin and both times I saw them they weren't doing anything. I stopped to look and there were others at the window saying how cute they were, so I said to my hubby loudly, those pups would have come from a puppy mill or something. They left after I said that.

Just when I thought people couldn't get any more stupid the human race surprises me yet again!

I have been wanting to name our next boy dog Lord, but hubby wont let me i got lots of boy dog names that Hubby has discarded! Lord, Kese (pronounced case) Rush, Boost, Odin, Circa, Chrome, Lurk, Pace, the list goes on!

Please don't tell your dog off for growling, that's her way of communicating with you and when she growls that is her warning to you. It's basically me skipping the stop it I don't like it part and punching you instead. It's not fair to take away her means of communication because you think it's not acceptable, you need to address the issue that is making her growl and fix that for the growling to stop.

Not a blood test to "predict" the onset of a season...only to varify most receptive time when season has started. Vet nurse 'should" know this, she may have not explained it clearly. As to Breeding any dog...whilst it is admirable that you are concerned about the well being of this young bitch, calling breeders will do nothing. Regardless of what register, Main, Limited or none at all, this bitch belongs to it's owners and they have every "legal" right to breed her as and when they wish, provided they are not Registered Breeders they have no accountability as to age of breeding, crossbred or Pure breeding. Crazy? Yeah. I am aware there is nothing they can do and I am aware of the law in regards to dogs are property of the owners, I was trying only to warn them that the person they have sold their dog too has intentions of breeding it, I am pretty sure any responsible breeder would have wanted to know that. There was no harm done in trying.

I could def tell! Tail high, backing up on indie, plus I asked the owners and she was quite swollen, and her coat wasn't that long Round the but, looked like she had been licking lots. sad thing is they seemed in no rush to separate her from the boy that came running round the corner. Like ok, if you wanna breed her, at least make sure your not gonna have mixes, if it was a dog that was more keen there would have been trouble for sure. Sigh, guess I will have to get used to seeing silly people :-( Ya can't fix stupid, but ill keep trying!

I assume that the OP means that she doesn't want the dog to be in a crate every time he/she is in the house. She wants the dog to be able to walk around and be with the family without the tree being destroyed. Oh I took it as leaving the dog alone with the Christmas tree, my bad :) LOL tinsel poop, I have yet to see that.

Crate training/crating a dog doesn't make it any less of a member in the family??

Maybe irresponsible breeding would have been a better word, like an older pup that has come into clinic and had to be pts because these people got a cheap shepherd thinking it would be ok but it had bad hips or about the few days I volunteered at the SPCA and had to put litters of shepherd mixes down (among other breeds as well). I know genetics can play funny games that's for sure! But to me health testing and hip scoring etc is at least trying to minimize the chances o these problems occurring, rather then breeding willy nilly. Lol I agree I think 18months is too young also. Oh definitely, they might be all happy and healthy and grow to ripe old ages, the statistics just aren't in their favor.

I didn't realize so much until now! The more and more I get out in Australia the more I see. Pretty much every dog I saw at my old dog park in New Zealand had been fixed. And since I have a special love for German shepherds this one got me cross, is I have seen the results of poor breeding all to often :-(

They might not be breeding her yet. I will give it a go if I see them again, but I don't think they will be interested as health testing etc went over the top of their heads, basically they just wanted to find another shepherd so they could get puppies from her, they said they just hadn't found one yet. Not to mention other attempts with old dogs had been unsuccessful. Poor dog don't want babies!

Probably not, that's why I just thought I'd ask which kennels and give the breeder a heads up. The ones I did contact were very lovely and thanked me for calling, so at least I didn't feel like a total twat!

Sucks because I always feel like the lone voice :-( and people think I am just being a bitch or a know it all, I admit I am pretty blunt thought lol, I'll just have to surround my self with better people XD oh man I need to chase dem sheepies! Yay for more doggies, I have made up my mind and think I might try to trial indie next year. We will see how we go!

Yeah, that's why I couldn't be bothered arguing, the world doesn't need more poorly bred GSDs Especially though So I thought I could contact the breeder. I thought it would have been a simple phone call, but oh well. least I tried! The thing is they said they had failed to get litters out of all their other GSD bitches they had had over their years. Sweet! 7 it is! You got work? You know when chasing the sheepies is back on?
