  1. Thank you so much to everyone for their input, there were so many things that I hadn't considered before bringing my baby to work With everyone's input I am hoping that both my boss, puppy & myself will have a great time together at work, I'm lucky that my boss is very tolerant in most situations, but it will be a learning curve for us all. Pretty Miss Emma, thanks for all the info, so much that I hadn't thought about GSdog2, love the photos of your baby, he looks very content
  2. Hehehe thanks GSdog2, maybe factory is the wrong word, we used to have equipment stored out there & people working, but with changing requirements it's now like a great big storage area, BUT it's fully concreted (nice & easy to clean), light & airy & has lots of space where I could set up a playpen type deal, I'm now wondering if it wouldn't be better to leave puppy out there with it's crate & toys etc, so it gets time on it's own, but isn't totally isolated as people have to walk through the area to go to the bathrooms & I could bring it into the office for "visits" with me, at least until it gets older.... I'm sure there's a way to do this so that I don't create a dependent dog that suffers from separation anxiety, just not sure what the best way is, I'll also have a chat to the breeder over the weekend & see what they think, thanks for all the help everyone...please keep it coming
  3. I think OP said it's only one day a week :) for the one day a week no one is home, so the pup will be with someone every day. Pup will only be coming to work with me one day a week, the other days my daughter has uni, so pup will be alone for part of the day & even on the days I don't work, pup will have times where I won't be with them as I have horses that also need my attention, but thank you, maybe I need to think about how I do things at work, I do have an area out in the factory where pup could go for periods as long as pup doesn't howl or bark.... I could also leave pup at home for the one day, but hate the thought of it having to spend the whole day in it's crate or shut away by itself in a room ( I can't let it have run of the house as I'm not sure what mischief my 2 older Staffys might encourage pup into! Read furniture / food stuffs / clothing destroyed ) I can see why it would be good for pup to learn to be alone, something to think on......
  4. Thanks everyone for your replies, sadly I really can't take puppy outside, our little "yard" (read metre wide strip of weeds) is open to every stray dog & leashed one in the area & I'm not prepared to take the risk with my precious bub, so for the first few weeks at least it will be pee pads. I'm getting a crate to go under my desk, will have toys & water available under my desk too, I was looking online last night & saw painters drop sheets which are rubber backed, which I thought maybe I could put down in my desk area so that if there is an accident it won't actually go on the carpet & I can just take them home & wash them. As soon as puppy is old enough, we will be going outside to toilet. I am also thinking about bringing a door barrier (I have like a cubicle at work) so that puppy can have a small area to play in but can't distract anyone else, although for most days that won't be a problem as I'm the only person in my area of the office. I'm sure this is doable, I just have to make it as pleasant an experience for the boss as I can so that it can become a permanant fixture
  5. I'm about(in 4 weeks lol) to bring home my new (will be 8 week old) puppy & for the one day a week where no one is home my boss has said that I can take puppy to work The hard part is that it's only on a trial basis & my bosses main concern is that the office will end up smelling like puppy pee, so my question for everyone is, what product do you recommend to kill puppy odor, are any of the pee pads better than others for attracting the puppy so it goes where I want it too, as we don't have a yard at work I can't take puppy outside until it's older & has had all its shots (sorry for calling puppy "it", I don't know what sex I'm getting yet). I'm going to take puppy's crate to work to spend most of it's day in initially, but what do other people take to keep puppy occupied & out of everyone else's way ?
  6. Pics? Congrats! I hope it will fly by for you. I'm waiting for first photos this weekend. No photo's yet, I've met the litter, but not sure which one will be mine, not even sure what sex I'm getting at the moment, but will definitely be drowning people in photos once it's all decided I'm definitely getting ahead of myself, I've shopping for: Beds blankies show trolley clothes for puppy, cos it'll be cold in a few weeks lol door gate thingy - so puppy can't get to my older dogs unles I want them to no toys yet, so now I'll have to look for them too lol
  7. I'm soooo excited, my new British Bulldog puppy will be coming home in just under 4 weeks......
  8. Sorry BB, for some reason I didn't see this post! Yes Mum's showing Paris, the little lady in my avatar, we're all still a little behind the others in what to do, but we're learning more all the time, Paris behaved wonderfully, we didn't set the world on fire but we did win our class on both Friday & Saturday, so it was all worth it, the look on Mum's face was worth a million dollars, having come to dog showing at a, shall we say more mature age, she's loving that she's found something that she can be as passionate about as her horses :) We generally come to most of the shows, especially at KCC, even if it's just for a look, so yes, would love to catch up, we're not hard to find, look for the most mature lady handling a brindle frenchie, & that'll be mum, I'll be the one standing beside / behind / near her with curly hair :)
  9. Taken me a while, but I just wanted to thank everyone that was involved in these shows, we were a little late with our entries - no problem - it was our first shows - again no problem - Mum was a little behind the other competitors with keeping up on what to do next - no problem - all in all a really great show, we went both days & Mum was ecstatic with how her little girl performed, so many many thanks for making our first show such an enjoyable experience :)
  10. Just bumping this up to see if there is anyone that has had experience with the Glow Groom that's available here in Australia, promoted as an all natural product, or the Natural Angel Eyes?
  11. Please excuse my ignorance, what is a Big Sack Sale?
  12. Thanks ladies, will search the allmighty Google for words of wisdom & play, play, play - woo hoo, a license to have fun
  13. Hi all, Not sure if this is the right place to put this, if it's not please let me know & I'll get it moved / removed. Anyway, what I was wondering is, a few years ago I bought a Fuji camera, a S5500, which I thought was just a point & shoot camera, the other day I thought it was high time I stopped using my phone as my camera & pulled out the real camera I had, so I went to the cupboard & dragged it out to start playing with, the first thing I had to do was find the instruction book, which much to my surprise I did (normally any paperwork that isn't filed, seems to go into a black hole from which it never emerges again). Imagine my surprise when I find out that I don't need a wide angle lense as it's already built in! Apparently, my point & shoot is a little more advanced than I realised! So (sorry I got sidetracked) my question is, is there anyone out there that either has one of these cameras, or can point me to a "how to" for dummies, I tried to read the manual whilst relaxing in a beautiful B &B in Beechworth over the weekend & it just gave me a headache & I think that my little camera can do everything I want to do & probably a whole heap more than I'll ever want  but only if I can find out how to use it! My puppies & horses will thank you for your help, hopefully I'll be able to get some beautiful photos that do my babies justice - I just need to learn how best to use my camera. Thanks All
  14. What a shame, although the last show was cold, it was a great way for us "L" platers to learn, ahh well, always the next one :)
  15. krystal&coco Yes she was a Frenchie, I ended up not going ahead with her, buttttt I have got my name down for yet another little girl, again in NZ, but she was only born yesterday so it will take a few weeks to see if she's suitable for showing...........the wait continues
  16. Ok, so I may be a bit premature, but I just had to share, I've just spoken to a breeder who has a female for sale & she's my dream puppy, the breeder has said that I can have her, but I've been told that before & for one reason or another the puppy has gone to someone else....anyway I am soooo excited, keep your fingers crossed for me.
  17. We were in baby puppy, but on this occassion we didn't place, but we did have a brilliant time
  18. Many thanks to the organizers of last nights show, even though it was cold, the rain held off & we managed to get Paris to her very first (and ours) show Even though we were totally unprepared, we had a wonderful time, with the Judges being very understanding when Paris went froggy on the table  (much to Mum's embarrassment), we now have a much better understanding of what is required in the show ring and we just have to practise, practise practise with Paris & get her to stand nicely, which may be a bit of a trial me thinks Thanks too to the lovely Shirley and Stacey, who were both very helpful at our first show, offering some great advice.
  19. Hi Swayd We only just got our little Frenchie girl last weekend, although she is nearly 5 months old, she hasn't done any showing, & neither have we!! We're not even sure about what needs to be done or how to do it, would your show be suitable for us??
  20. Thanks for bumping this thread, we've just picked up our first show dog, so threads like this with great suppliers is a huge help
  21. What a great idea, wish I'd seen it before I just (literally) bought a snuggle puppy  but I am definitely keeping your post for future reference.
  22. What a great thread, I've not got long to wait now, we're picking up our baby on Saturday - squeeeee - we were so lucky looking at some of the posts here, we've had a really quick turnaround, we've been looking for the right puppy for some time, but when we found her, well it's only taken just on a week the hardest thing for me is, although I've done all the leg work, Paris is for my mum, so I don't even get to have her with me but I do get visiting rights
  23. Wow, what a great thread, I'm a newbie here & I've never heard of Snuggle pups, wish I had, we're picking up our new puppy on Saturday & it may have saved a few sleepless nights!
