Thanks Kavik, sounds like good reasons to me :)

Hi, Wondering if anyone has had their dog declared dangerous due to an incident in an off lead park (middle aged medium sized dog was charged by SWF and caused it injury)? What steps did you take to try get the decision overturned? Vet reference, temperament test, training/behaviour modification with accredited organisation, solicitor?? Did you have success? TIA

Hi Kavik, Awesome video, well done You may be able to answer my question, why would people do recallers a second or third time? Surely you learn everthing the first time? TIA :)

Hi Whirligig, Welcome to the forum in my experience it is a place you can find engaging discussion, useful knowledge and a variety of opinions. :) Take the good and ignore the bad, don't take things too personally but wear a flame suit when necessary It is an interesting insight into how we all interpret things differently. Anyway I just wanted to say good on you for seeking out and finding a way to help your dog. Personally I think the Alpha people are great and get down there when I can, nothing like 100 dogs or so in the one place for some serious distraction work!

Usually the vet nurse get people to weigh their dog on arrival, writes it down so that if medication is required the vet knows the right does. Common practice. This is why the scales are in the waiting room. Very basic training can be achieved in 7 days with an experienced trainer, rehabilitation of the issues you have decribed could not be fixed in that amount of time.

Hi, Overall it is not a good siutation but two things stand out to me. 1. why on earth would a vet take a lead off a dog to weigh it?????? Absolute stupidity. 2. 1 week of bootcamp - what on earth did he think could be achieved in such a short period of time?? With effective rehabilitation training he should improve (in the right hands they will be able to tell him if it is possible) but it will be an ongoing management process...

A Shocking Example Of "training"

I am so sorry for your loss. From my experience it takes about a month to 6 weeks but it is important that you try to stick with your regular routine (as much as you can). Letting him get away with things that he would not normally be allowed may exaserbate things. So very sad to see a pet grieve. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Awesome! Can't imagine my GSD's do it though, they are too big!

Thank you Hardys Angel, I did do a search in the forum but didn;t find anything. Have all the info I need now :) -
Hi, The local has a new food called Meals for Mutts and they recommended it. Has anyone heard of this or used it? Any feedback? TIA :)
-
Yes thanks Donatella, it is a chore I kinda hate...lol... I think it is way too much and so does my hip pocket! I got them some raw meaty bones this arvo and needless to say they were in heaven for about 4 minutes...lol. I went to the local food supplier and they have a new brand that they recommended, might start a thread to get some feedback, it is called meals for mutts. :)

Hi, I have been feeding my 2 GSDs BH for about 8 months now and they are so lean. I have upped to 8 cups a day each hoping they will put on a bit of weight but that, to me, is just so much food compared to some of the other brands like Advance or Hills (which they have been on in the past). I can't remember how much I use to feed but it was never 8 cups. Does anyone else find they need to feed a lot? TIA :)

Hey Roova, I like the way you think, I have only scanned it (and will review when I am not so exhausted and see if I can add anything further). Every little bit helps, it is amazing how uneducated the general public are, good on you for trying to help :) :) :)

Thank you all for your replies :)

Hi, I haven't had to use kennels but just wondering if you have to pay up front or just pay a deposit and the balance at the end of the stay? TIA :)

Thanks -
My heart goes out to you, how terrible for both you and Buddy. No excuse is acceptable. I'd be contacting the RSPCA to see if they can investigate and fine the arse off them. Get a report from the vet who would have the complete details. Demand the groomer is sacked. Contact the local newspaper. But just now.........grieve for your gorgeous boy and know that you are in no way responsible... I am so, so sorry....

I agree with Minimax..

showdog, brushing often, would once a week head to toe do it? I have just spent 2+ hours on a Newf that hasn't been done for months, needless to say I have not finished but I am about 50% the way through (I hope).

Hi, I have a long haired GSD who was getting rather matted, till I clipped him (he now resemble a Dr Suess character...lol). Anyway I am looking for some advice on the best quality slicker I can get? I also groom a Newfoundland on occasion so would a slicker be best for him too or should I be using something else? TIA :)
