Thanks for all the suggestions. I ordered a long leash online. Let's see how things go with Caesar!

Fantastic idea!!

Thanks for the info on lunge lead. It did produce alot more results online. The longest k9pro is selling is only 33ft. I'm looking for about 50ft? Is there other websites you guys know about? Or is 50ft too long? I don't really know what the ideal length should be so I thought the longer the better.

Hey guys, any idea where I can find a 50 feet nylon long leash? I tried ebay and amazon but apparently they do not deliver to Australia. No idea why. I'm having trouble with Caesar's recall outside the house, so I thought I might just give the long leash a try. Thanks in advance..

How Do You Know If Your Puppy Is Cold?
andrewang replied to andrewang's topic in General Dog Discussion
Appointment with a groomer it is. Since so many of you suggested coats or jackets, can you guys tell me what I should be looking for in a jacket for a puppy? Should I get something slightly bigger so he can grow into it throughout winter as he is only 3 months old? -
Hi guys, BRACE YOURSELVES!! WINTER IS COMING!! This is my first winter with a puppy and also the Caesar's first winter. He is a cocker spaniel with thick curly coat now. I was thinking if I should let his coat grow so a thicker coat can keep him warm. And how do you tell if the puppy is cold or not?

I meant have dinner then take his water away. Sorry for the confusion. Thank god this "happy hour" phase is normal and just a last burst of fire for tired puppies. Hahaha Had dogs my whole life but never realized this behavior. Probably because I was still young and my parents dealt with it. Cheers to my parents. Anyway the reason why Caesar sleeps late is because I sleep late. Gotta let him get use to my schedule. Don't want him waking up too early and be bored and destructive. Thanks for all your replies.

Hey guys, Is it normal for an 11 week old puppy to have a behavior change at night? It happens just before he goes to bed at around 11pm. Caesar is a sweet loving puppy in the day. Everybody loves Caesar in the day. His schedule goes like this: 10am Breakfast. After breakfast he walks around the house playing with his toys or go for a short walk around the neighborhood and napping. 3pm Lunch. Same routine except no walks around. Maybe visit a friend's place. 6pm We go for another walk and put him in his play pen while cook and have dinner with my partner. 9pm Dinner and water taken away from him. He has free run all over the house under constant supervision. 11pm Devil within awakens. Caesar starts mouthing, biting pants. "NO!!" will be met with barks or defiance. 12am Goes to bed. Repeat cycle. Is this normal behavior in puppies? Just a couple of photos for your enjoyment!

I have been having the same problems too! My 11 weeks old do very well when under supervision but he'll pee just OUTSIDE the pet loo if I'm not home or overnight. I don't know why and I would really love to know how to fix it. I wash and change the grass every morning. I would take the old grass away and soak it in water and detergent for a couple of hours and hang it out to dry for the rest of the day but still he pees outside the pet loo when I'm not looking.

Pets In The Park - City Of Stoonington
andrewang replied to Vizsla's topic in General Dog Discussion
Awww man... Caesar wouldn't be getting his second vac until the end of March! -
I feel so much better knowing how common this problem is. I've had dogs all my life but none of them have had any problems with humping. When I see my 9 week old humping, many worrying scenarios just came flashing into my mind.

Having the toy destroyed is small matter. What I am afraid of is Caesar transferring the aggression towards other dogs or people. Really hope that doesn't happen. Anyway Caesars gonna start puppy school soon. Hopefully the trainer might be able to help me in some way.
-
I also wanna know if anyone have any feedbacks on the aggression shown on the toy. Is it normal behavior?
-
Hey guys, some of you probably remember Caesar, a 9 week old Cocker spaniel I got from a respectable breeder in Victoria. He's doing really well with his house training and such but I still got him a snuggle puppy to help him through the night. Problem now is he is very "aggressive" with the snuggle puppy. He bites and tugs and tries to tear it apart. He also humps it as it is a slightly bigger sized stuff toy. Should I remove the toy or should I just leave him be so he can direct all those emotions on the snuggle puppy. Andrew

After some fidgeting around, I think I have figured out how to upload pics. Enjoy!! More to come when I have time

Is he old enough to have chicken wings and lamb ribs? My breeder encourages us to start off with chicken neck I think. Couldn't pay attention to her while holding the puppy. lol I guess while he's really small LARGE chicken necks are OK ..I always worry though , as some chicken necks are almost the same diameter /shape as a puppy's food tube ..and can be swallowed whole (or worse, in segments if chopped up ..and can cause choking. Wings are an odd shape, and usually cannot be gulped whole :) Right right... I see the logic there. Thanks for the excellent advice.

Am I allowed to do that?

Lots of sleepless nights too!

I got Caesar from a very respectable breeder, but she's a good 2 hours drive away from me, so she couldn't help me much with vets and butchers and stuff. She will provide a puppy booklet on the day of collection though. She wants me to start preparing meat, milk, kibbles and register for puppy school in the mean time. She said milk mixed with mince is just something the puppies absolutely love.

Hey guys, after 18 months of waiting, stalking and visitings, Caesar will finally be joining us next week. I have no idea how to upload pictures so just imagine an 8 weeks old solid black cocker spaniel puppy with a huge grin and a big belly. Anyway, the purpose of this thread is to find out: 1. Which vets I should avoid, which ones come highly recommended 2. Which puppy school I should enroll in 3. Anywhere that sells Advance puppy kibble at a good price 4. Which butcher is good 5. And where to buy those untangling combs with the rotating tooth 6. Any particular brand of lactose free milk to recommend is also appreciated. I am located at Malvern East Vic, but I have a car, so travelling a little is fine as long as Caesar gets the best! Thanks in advance.

Removing Dog Urine From Woollen Carpet
andrewang replied to dougal's topic in General Dog Discussion
Guys, when you say urine off, did you mean urine off or urine-off? Realised there are 2 different brands selling on eBay. -
https://coupon.schmackos.com.au/fbapp.aspx?ref=bookmarks&fb_source=bookmark_apps&count=0&fb_bmpos=3_0 Link above should bring you directly to the site. I took up the offer once and received the item about 3 weeks later with a 2014 expiration date. For people who already took the offer the previous time, simply change your address a little bit. ie. 123 Fake Address to 123A Fake Address. Cheers

80kg Rottweilers - Is This Legit?
andrewang replied to Simply Grand's topic in General Dog Discussion
I had a rotti who weighed about 54kg and people were already saying he's too huge. I can't imagine how an 80kg rotti looks like. -
Confronting An Owner Mistreating His Dog
andrewang replied to GSDowner's topic in General Dog Discussion
Why aren't you training your dog not to react instead of hitting him? I tried, I got someone in to take a look. My rotti REALLY hates the mailman. He's fine with everything and everyone one else but not the mailman. I think it might be because the mailman did some stuff to him while he was younger. He gets into a 'I'm gonna kill you' mode only with the mailman. I tried almost everything, only the newspaper can snap him out of that aggressive mode. Probably because of the noise it makes. Then why is your dog in a position where he can see the mailman? And if he isn't, why does it matter if he goes OTT at the sound? Does he redirect aggression? I live in a house, fully fenced and gated at least 2m high. My rotti have full access to the house. The mailman rode in with a scooter. The engine of the scooter can be heard hundreds of meters away. My rotti will wait for the mailman by my front gate. I tried redirecting his attention with toys and checking him whenever he tries to pounce but I find rolled up newspaper the most effective. It creates a light touch and a sound. He'll turn his attention to me and I praises him. He doesn't show any aggression towards me. By the time the whole routine is over, the mailman will be gone and he return to being fun-loving Rocky. BTW, what's OTT? I'm not saying what you do is right or wrong, that's not for me to judge. What I'm writing for is the dog's perspective. He's lying quietly in his yard and then this horrid noisy thing comes up to his front gate. Your dog races up to the gate telling him to "wrack off" and the bloke with the noisy thing does and usually quite fast. Your dog has had a huge win and this happens each and every day. I'm really open to suggestions as to what I should do in the future. Rocky lived a good life and is no longer with me but I wanna know what I should do in case my next dog have the same problem. The reason why I see this as a problem is because who knows one day the gate might be open when the mailman arrives and bad things happen. I just wanna desensitize Rocky from the mailman. And seriously it's just the mailman. Courier guy is fine, random charity person is fine, garbage guy is fine, just the freaking mailman on the scooter. lol p.s. mailman is muslim, he can't touch dogs.
