and I would have thought they need donations in order to increase the awareness in order to gain the support from the public to get the government to pay attention to get the law passed?
-
But HOW are they doing these things? It's well and good to say they will do it, but how are they doing? Apart from the occasional protest, I've not seen them actually do anything? And why do they need donations to hold a protest? I am not sure, thats why I am asking. But I have seen them at a number of events I have been to (not just dog related events but also music festivals) gathering signatures for a petition to put Oscar's Law in place. Plus I have just found on their website letter templates you can forward to your local MP. I am not sure what else they do, but that sounds like a form of action.
-
Why will you never support them? Because I dont agree with half baked vigilantes breaking into people's properties, trespassing and stealing animals. So people from Oscar's law stole peoples animals? I am assuming from an apparent puppy farm? *confused*
-
But arent they aimed to promote rescue organisations and shelters as the first option to adopting, and stop puppies being sold in pet shops? On their website it says: • Abolish the mass production of dogs. Make factory farming of dogs illegal • Ban the sale of animals from pet shops, online and in print media and encourage pet shops to work with local rescue and welfare organisations on advertising homeless animals for adoption. • Encourage people to adopt animals from shelters, pounds and rescue organisations or to contact the Kennel Council to find an ethical registered breeder • Commence running a real campaign about true and responsible companion animal care. I know I am going to somehow get blasted for appearing to be sticking up for them. But I am honestly just curious as to why people wouldnt support them?

so my understanding from comments here is that they are vauge about where the dontation money goes, and what exactly they are trying to acheive and how they plan to acheive it?

I was wondering what peoples opinions were on Oscar's Law? To be honest, I have only really scratched the surface of what they are trying to do (abolish puppy farms), but just saw someones comment in another thread saying they would not support their agenda. Please excuse my ignorance, I was wondering what is it they are doing that is bad?

I can personally reccomend the Kibble Nibble... I used to give my frenchie plastic bottles with kibble in them and she would chew her way through the bottle to get to the kibblle which. I would worry she would swallow the plastic or cut her mouth. We bought her a Kibble Nibble and she LOVES it! she is getting better at getting the kibble out and also she has grown to just enjoying rolling it around even without kibble in it.

More than that. He could (should?) be prosecuted for blatantly neglecting a dog's basic needs. Poor little dog must have been in agony. I'm thinking about doing that. I'll give the RSPCA a call but not sure they can do much on hearsay and vets have confidentiality so not sure they could do anything unless they had to or wanted to. I never knew vets had to keep animal cases confidential. I didnt think they would, especially from the RSPCA. I know the vets have to call the RSPCA if they dont think the animal belongs to the person who brings it in. I would have thought it would be the same if they think an animal is being mistreated. I work at a vet and everything is very confidential. it's just like going to a dr or a psychologist. I don't know the oarticulars about the vet and the case in general as I hung up pretty quickly before losing my head. I called the RSPCA and took his particulars but without seeing the dog I don't think they can do much. well i learn something new every day.. :) I still think its strange as I know my dog wouldnt give hoot if anyone knew her business... haha I understand its a medical profession but its animals, not humans, so it wouldnt make difference to the animal if someone knew their medical conditions. I work at a vet and we go by a confidentiality agreement, we can't tell anyone anything about who came in, who got what treatment etc. I believe you, but I still personally think its strange for it to be like that. :)

How Often Do We Do The 'annual' Vaccination?
Sares replied to Jess the Lab's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Wow, what an informative read this thread was! My frenchie is due to get her first annual vaccs this weekend. I will certainly be having the conversation with the Vet about what the vaccines are and how often we need to get them. -
Thats a great idea! I bet they won't reply after that one!
-
Its a scam for sure. They advertise they are in one location then when they find out where you are, they say they are somewhere else and will ship to you.
-
really!? what a small world! :) Unless there was another b+w Frenchie there! I dont remember seeing another B&W Frenchie.. There were other Frenchies but different colours. :)

There were lots of people and doggies there with no issues that I saw. It was a bit warm weather-wise and my frenchie was looking loving when we stopped at the stands so she could lay in the shade.. But we had a good time!

Thanks for telling us about Woof Fest! we went along, it was a nice day out!

Does She Really Need An Elizabethan Collar?
Sares replied to WExtremeG's topic in General Dog Discussion
my girl never needed one when she was spayed... She didnt even notice she had stitches. The thing that concerned me the most was keeping her from running around like a mad thing. We had a crate but you cant keep them in the crate all the time. -
Thanks for sharing! I hope Sally has a speedy recovery!! Sending well wishes her way!

Done! thank you for the link!

Another thing mine does is FART! Being a Frenchie she is particularly stinky.. But I sometimes think she saves them for when she is next to me on the couch with her bum pointing in my direction! haha
-
My girl likes to steal shoes and/or socks. Even if we are sitting on the couch and have just taken our shoes off to relax on the couch, she will sneakily pick one of the shoes up and casually walk away with it. She doesnt chew them but does it to get you to chase her... but she has to sneak away with it at first to get far enough away from you so you cant grab it off her. So now we cant leave any shoes on the floor.
-
I would never do it under any circumstances... Just not worth the risk. I have a female Frenchie, and I would be so scared that someone would steal her. Or what if a stray dog came up and attacked her, she would not be able to get away. She is very well socialised but it still wouldnt feel right leaving her out by herself.
