Could be fixed by desexing his damn dog No he won't desex her because she won't come good until she raises a litter... Hence the reason I said, there is no point trying to talk to some because they already know it all.. It is nice when you meet some and talk to them and they do listen - I have managed to convince quite a few people over the years to desex their dogs.. Sadly, you can't convince everyone. Yep.......Like this husky BYB I found on a classified site, " we are not like purebred husky breeders , we do not inbreed our dogs all of our dogs come from different homes families and states" haha.......umm whether it has papers or not its still a purebred husky so the statement is stupid. Plus they have a webpage and none of their dogs have papers so how do they know where they came from stupidity will always exist

lol I am not going to leave my dogs on the bed when we move the sheets haha , I actually take them to the loungeroom with some raw hide treats. I don't know about anyone else but I am not particularly fond of a dog trying to sniff my butt haha, I do not think doggy style was meant to be taken literally

Backyard breeders aren't a cohesive group who all think and do things the same way though. "BYBs" don't necessarily think there is lots of money made from breeding - some might, but others are just people who don't know what they're doing. Doesn't the number of individuals of a particular breed and type correlate wiht their popularity at any particular time? I imagine it's much like dog bite rates, with particular breeds being represented more when there are just more of that breed around. :) very true. Like how there will always be an alarming amount of staffies in the pound unfortunately

Hawkesbury has a 5month old male for $82.5 last week they had a 1.5year old female I wonder if next week it will be a litter What I do not understand is when BYBS say that they there is so much money to be made from breeding and then they just turn around and dump the litter in the pound.....I see so many shepherd cross, bullbreed cross, kelpie cross litters being abandoned lately. Is there a time of year when bitches come into season more often? Like with cats who come into season generally in spring?

I remember years ago when I could walk into a pound or shelter and you find no cavaliers or any other rare breed. Not saying that Cavs are rare but on a dumpage ratio they used to be. I have been to 4 shelters this week and have found cavaliers at every one of them as well as few other breeds that I did not expect. Does anyone think this influx has anything to do with the changing economy? people buying dogs in rental homes and landlords then selling up??

Many of the privately owned PP stores which remain, have rebranded themselves as "Pets Co". The GOOD thing that has come out of all this is that Pets Co will NOT be selling kittens or puppies, but will be promoting shelter adoptions. I have a pretty thick-skin, but I was very upset this week to see a litter of Cane Corso in a pet shops' glass box. I can't think of many worse breeds to be available to the impulse buyer..... Are they going to be advertising for the shelters or housing supposed rescue animals in the store? If they are "housing rescue" animals in the shop it is no different to selling pets as per norm for the company

Thats kind of the point isn't it? That dog had none of that. I have no idea if people with Huskies should have children - undoubtedly many shouldn't, like any group in society. I am saying that I would not trust any dog with such a tiny baby. Huskies are no more dangerous then any other dog if it has not been trained or socialised properly. I do not know of any cases personally but even the sweetest cavalier could maul a baby if not given proper training. No breed should be blamed its the deeds that matter. I don't know about that but no dog large or small, undisciplined or not, should be trusted around a tiny baby. My comment wasn't about whether Huskies should be trusted or whether their owners should have children - don't know how it got interpreted that way. Then why highlight that part of my post? it genuinely seems like you saying that husky owners should not have kids all dogs have teeth and all dogs can be unpredictable. Nobody 100% trusts anydog you could have a family dog for 12years and then one day its turns on a child. and that is the truth that NO BREED should be blamed only the deeds of each individual dog or owner.... the "breed" attitude is why there is BSL

Sadly it is never going to change as money makes the world go round these days, where as it used to be common sense * sigh* puppy farmers are always going to be able to breed mass amounts and pet shops are always going to be able to sell them because that is their proposed purpose " pet shop" the government has had many people send in emails letters do protests etc but bottom line money is all that matters and they get taxes from these places. And lets face it the PM bought a puppy farm dog herself.... IMO: I would take the word "cav***le out of your post as it may be seens as promoting DD dogs

Thanks guys for all the advice, info and support. I will be passing this all onto my Gr Aunt and Yes I have changed my name to Squidgy , reason: my newphew called me a squidgy last week and it has stuck with me ever since haha

She is welcome to stay at any of our homes, the thing is she doesn't want to. She is very old and doesn't want to leave the only memories she has of my great uncle. In my opinion whether these people bought their homes or not they have no right to treat her this way, she should not have to move..we have talked to her about the possibility but it just makes her more upset

My mother has rang them for her, because she rang her crying on the phone terrified for her dogs... yes My uncle used to serve in the forces so thanks for that recommendation. I understand that people are allowed to dislike dogs and I understand that she doesn't own her land. What I mean by private is that it is only her and another person in the street that live in public housing, they have sold the rest off and she is the second last one left. The police say that it is her word against theirs basically. And that they have a right to hate animals etc etc and she needs to be more understanding to their beliefs and consider getting rid of the dogs if that is what it will take to calm the situation down. They have made up so many lies, saying that the dogs have jumped the fence, I would love to know how they jumped 6ft colorbond fences!!! have attacked their children sorry have to laugh as if these dogs attacked someone it would be reported .morons..... I just don't know how long she has left as she is not well either, and these idiots are making her life hell. They have even called the RSPCA saying the dogs are neglected :/ as I have said to them myself, so what is it make up your mind? they are neglected , they are dangerous what is seriously!!!! I don't know what I will do if she ends up dying over the stress

because they have paid, and have different customs/beliefs ..... sad for your Aunt ..sounds as if life will not be comfortable for her anymore . nope.... they are continuously harassing her knocking on her door " wearing gloves" so that their hands do not touch a house that has dogs.....one person told her that he will send them back to hell where they came from she is alone and has nobody but the dogs.... this is a good reason why I like dogs over most humans

Hey :) My great aunt lives in a housing property ( public housing) and they are developing it all around that area she has been told she can keep her home ( for now)but she has to learn to adapt her home to suit her new "private" neighbours. I am far from a racist and neither is my Aunty but all of her neighbours are from other minorities and have nothing but concrete jungles and not one dog ( I am not sure if this is a culture thing or not) they have complained about my Aunts 3 dogs, saying that in this "private" that dogs and animals she be banned because they bring nothing but filth and disease, mind you my Aunts dogs are looked after better then some people look after their children. Her dogs have dug a few tiny holes in HER backyard which she fills in all the time, they do not bark except when somebody approaches the gate or sticks their head over the fence ( something these neighbours do ALOT) they put their heads and hands over the fence and her german shepherd gets defensive not aggressive just warns them in the best way she can, she is an old girl who has never had to put up with this sort of thing before, the same with other two dogs a GSP and a dachshund. They say that my aunties dogs are aggressive, destructive and unclean and that she should be forced to surrender them if she wants to continue living in this now " private" area........ My great aunt is going into her 70's she doesnt need this......her and the dogs were great friends with all the previous neighbours, some moved into smaller homes, some passed due to their age etc I do not understand how some new "private" people can step in and try to change everything
