I am so very sorry Huski, I have just seen this post. My heart aches for your mum
-
I wonder if she will do that in a hurry again

I had always assumed also that to look up a rescue organisation, you should be able to find all the committee members and what they do with funds etc, is that right?
-
No NSW and I don't want to deal with the RSPCA in any form.
-
Who is the governing body that governs rescue organisation? I don't mean the RSPCA, but those above rescue organisations? The only thing I have found is the Primary Industry? I need to know who to complain to to help an organisation run more efficiently and I also need to know the rules governing such a body. Another thing I need to know, does anyone know of a cattery that uses rags to clean out their cages?

What a sweetie :) I've never heard of the breed, are there many breeders in Australia?

I take my 13.5 year old Border Collie for a walk 3 times a week, she can't manage too far, but she does so love being out and about and sniffing :) It takes us forever to walk around the block as she has to stop for rests, she has bad arthritis and cruciate problems. I often have people ask me how old she is and smile when I tell them, I have never had a bad comment and if I did I would ignore it. Three weeks ago she was diagnosed with bladder cancer, she doesn't have long, but she is happy and loved, that's all that matters to me and bugger anyone else.

Well said :) -
That was great to watch :) Very clever dog.....I would worry though that it would hurt itself it was mine

It has been many years since I was a breeder of Border Collies, but I would get photos and updates all the time, I loved it. I knew I had made the right decision to sell my precious babies to the right people. Even now, when all my babies have passed on, I still receive Christmas cards and photos of their new ones :) My Kiska is a rescue Border Collie from the Border Collie Rescue and I Have had her for 10.5 years now, I will still update Julie Grey on how she is going :)

Oh that's wonderful news :)

14 Years Old & Hobbes Is Still A Ratter...

Well done old boy :) -
Make the most of your Kirra, they leave us all too soon.

We are unable to use Feldene as her urine results showed high protein levels which is not good, it would probably put her into complete renal failure Kiska has very bad arthritis and cruciate problems and we had to stop her Carprophen and she is really feeling it at the moment, so she is on Tramal for that now.

My beloved Kiska was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer this week, she is 13.5 years old. It can be operated on, but due to her age, I have opted not to go down that track. I am awaiting some urine tests back to see if we can start her on Feldene which may help shrink the cancer, but it's mainly for palliative care. It never gets any easier when we are losing our beautiful babies, no matter how many times we have to do it She is my heart dog, along with my Jenna that I lost nearly 16 years ago now. My time will be spent loving and spoiling her and making her happy. She was my first rescue Border Collie and will be last one. My heart is breaking and the pain sometimes feels unbearable, but I know many of you on here will understand.

OMG...so only the black and white pups were Border Collies and the tan and whites were Koolies.....words fail me on that one I try very hard to educate people on animals, but some are truly beyond help

Love all the Budweiser ads :)

I have never heard of tubal ligation for a dog, but I agree it would be a very good idea for some of the giant breeds. I wish you luck in your search of a vet who will do it for you. LisaCC has a good suggestions, try the uni vets.

I know of a few in the Sydney area as well that are registered breeders, but I would call them puppy farmers. All dogs are kept in kennels and the only socialisation they get are when they are shown and even that is limited. They can also have as many as 5 litters on the ground at a time I can't see how they are breeding for the betterment of the dog when most of theses dogs have temperament problems It's heat breaking to see.
-
In the heat we are having it's almost impossible to completely get rid of the urine and faeces smell, even though the cages are cleaned daily at Charmhaven pound. It may well have been a combination of both the chemical and rest?
-
The local RSPCA is also full at the moment and I wouldn't dream of taking away from their animals :)
-
I am going to go to the local Petbarn on Monday as they are usually pretty good.

Already posted on Facebook :) I wished someone could fill me in with the about the 'debacle with management' as I have only been volunteering there for a 2 months.

I hope it is ok to post this plea on here, I haven't been here for a few years and maybe the rules have changed, and it isn't for cats. If so please delete. Socares Animal Facility at Depot Rd Charmhaven on the Central Coast NSW desperately needs cat food, wet and dry as well as Kitty Litter. We are full at the moment and running out of both very quickly. Bothe dogs and cats are full to capacity, but the dogs are covered for the moment, thank goodness. If anyone could please donate some food for the cats, we will be very grateful. Thank you :)
