Today I took my daughter to the vets to have her MIL's 15 year old Toy Poodle reach the rainbow bridge. My daughter bought Kugo for them from a breeder when he was 7 weeks old. They have loved and protected him since then. It was a sad day RIP Kugo, you were loved and treasured for all your life and even though you were afraid and trembling, you were loved while you passed

I understang your loss so well. It will be eight years in September that I lost my beloved Jenna, there is never a day that goes by that I don't miss and long for her. My heart will never be the same again, the hole will never be filled and the tears will never stop

Tomorrow, 15th September, will be 7 years since I let you go. My love, I still miss you every day and I will try and wait patiently until I can once again feel and smell you. I love you still my lovely girl.

(((Colleen))) It's hard isn't it and never a day goes past when you don't think of them, or wish you could share just one more hug.

Uhmmmm...obvious answer is to clean the water bowl every day I use a stainless steel one and clean it, along with the food bowls, every day, never had a problem yet :D

I am so very sorry. RIP Sam.

My Kiska has a hot spot just off to the side of her tail :D What causes this and how can you prevent it reoccurring?

It is 6 years today since I had to put you to sleep and my heart still bleeds for you. Thank you my girl for all the years of love and joy you gave me. I hope that tonight you will visit me in my dreams. We will eventually be together again, wait for me and look after Laird and Tasha.

Whether you believe it or not, recently my daughter went to see a clairvoyant and she told her that my beloved Jenna, my first and special Border Collie, was running free with my other babies that I have since had to PTS. I am telling you this in the hope that it will give you comfort. They leave us physically, but they are there waiting for us when our time comes. Jenna was PTS in September '99, and I miss her everyday. BUT the time will come when we will be once again, together again. Have faith and hope.

RnB, my heart breaks for you and you articulated your thoughts so very well....I think we all have thought this as well. Same thing happened to my old boy Libby, he 15.5 years old when pts. We also had him on Rimadyl for the last 5 months of his life, that 5 months he was better. Hang in there and go for a second opinion, no one knows your beloved boy like you do.

One of my dogs had this a few years ago, scooped it up and took it the vet where they checked it out. I was told it was an allergy to something she had eaten...we found that she was allergic to the caramel additive in canned dogs food. I made her own food for her and never had a problem again.

Rebanne, thatnks for the information. I'm not too sure if I will 'go all the way' but I am going to try Kiska on it and see how she goes. LOL...love the varied diet, dogs are very handy creatures when the freezer mucks up Thanks Holly, no I know about the bits of sharp bones that can be found in chicken mince Kiska's dish in only a fairly small one so I know I am not over feeding her. I cup of kibble and 1/2 can of 700grms and alternating bewteen one chicken wing and a few small necks, or a whole heap of vegies She loves her dinner time!

Thanks Holly, no I don't measure or weigh the food, but I go by her bowl size so know how much to give her. Is it very imprtant to weigh her food? As for cutting out the can food, should I do that gradually so as she doesn't get an upset tummy? I think I cook the meat because I was relunctant to give her raw, don't know why. Thanks for the help Darien

OK...seeing as no one answerd my question directly, I looked it up. My dog gets a bit of both, kibble, high quality can food, chicken wings, necks and legs as well as vegetables, I often make up a meal with cooked mince(kangaroo) with vegies and pasta and sometimes table scraps. She is fit, lean and happy. Is there anything wrong with her diet? She also gets raw bones form the butcher, maybe twice a week.

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is a BARF diet?

Yes, I have my Kiska now, another BC who is a rescue. I could post so many photos of my beauties, I think I have more of them than I do of my daughters!!! Tasha, the puppy in the first photo, I lost last March to bladder cancer Jenna the centre one, was the light of my life and Libby was my big boofhead.

I miss them all so much, but especially my beloved Jenna, my special girl. My Jenna in her favorite place.
