Perfect. Thank you so much

I’m sure this has been asked before but I’m getting an error message when I attempt a search. Looking for recommendations for clippers for standard poodle feet. I’ve got km2s I use on the body but find they’re a bit cumbersome at times getting into nooks and crannies of feet. Many thanks

it is definitely not a probiotic...and a softer poo at night time (after a sleep the poo is mostly a little bit softer as there is less compaction due to muscle usage) is nothing that point to digestion issues in the first place. Dogs get older, metabolism can change and so the periods between poo ime... What does this mean? Usage of which muscles influence poo softness? for most people (and dogs ...) sports or another activity where they use their core muscles (stomach / back) will result in 'compacting' the intestines, plus there is the impact of a more efficient metabolism due to a higher energy demand - both will normally result in a firmer stool. Conversely, the poo is likely less firm after a rest / sleep phase when the body relaxed for a longer period - of course, it will also depend on the health state of the organism, fitness level and the type and amount of food. Ok, I was wondering if that is what you meant. Thanks for clarifying. Just so you know that is incorrect. Skeletal muscle plays no role in compaction of bowel contents. And metronidazole is an anti-protozoal too. It's use would be indicated in this case. think it over next time you sit on your toilet... Valsalva manoeuvre does not equate to skeletal muscle firming the stool. I wasn't referring to holding your breath because your poo is smelly - it was more about the muscles usage / control while you pee and poo; there are even specific pelvic floor muscle exercises to strengthen those muscles that doctors might recommend in case of incontinence etc. ...sorry for getting off-topic. Valsalva manoeuvre is not the same as breath-holding and has nothing to do with faecal odour. Anyway, input was to address statement; use of stomach and back muscles results in compacting of intestines resulting in firmer stool. People use this forum as a legitimate resource in sourcing dog husbandry advice. We should at least provide accurate information.

Giant Schnauzer (pepper and salt) most often mistaken for Irish Wolfhound. Standard Poodle (black and white parti) has been mistaken for all kinds of crosses. Most frequently Dalmatian. Any plenty of disbelieving looks when I say he's all poodle!

I have a 150gm container of rose hip vital (less 6 scoops) to give to rescue. Happy to post. Alternatively I'm in southern Brisbane if any local rescues are interested.

Happy Birthday Mac! Hope he enjoys his SA blue cheese. I've been quietly following his progress and hoping we would get to see him celebrate his 16th birthday in fine style :D

Roadtrip Through Central/outback Australia

Wow! Spectacular images there - I loved the Dalhousie ruins and the old stockyards. Thanks for sharing. -
I've been doing a clean out and I've got a few items I'd like to donate to rescue. They're quite bulky so I'd prefer somewhere in Brisbane rather than posting. I'm more than happy to drop them off. Items include XL snooza cushion, collars and leads, stainless steel treat containers etc. Could anyone recommend an ethical rescue in Brisbane that I can contact? Thanks all!

Hi eek, sorry for the delay. I put my details down with Supervets for routine care. Thankfully we haven't needed veterinary care at all yet here so can't comment on service.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions so far!

We've recently relocated to the south-eastern suburbs of Brisbane (Wakerley area) for me to start an exciting new career outside of the veterinary industry. Unfortunately none of my contacts know any vets in Brissy and it's a little nerve wracking being on the client side of the veterinary desk after so long in the industry! Wondering if anyone can recommend vets in my area? I'm looking for somewhere with excellent communication, transparency and emphasis on best practice and continuing education and qualification/professionalism of staff. I don't want one of the big franchise practices (worked for them in the past) and am happy to drive out of my area for routine care but will need something nearby for emergencies too. Can anyone help? TIA :)

Thanks for sharing. That just made my day too!

Would Christies Beach be too far away? I used to work with Pip and Stew Mason before they had their current practice and I can highly recommend them both. Marion Small Animal Hospital used to have a very good reputation when I was in Adelaide (and working at one of the clinics in the Happy Valley area for a long time.......) but I've been gone for a few years so not sure who is currently there. I hope she finds someone she's happy with :)

Do you actually have any qualifications to be giving these reviews? Degrees etc or is it simply your opinion? I was wondering this too, especially after reading the frighteningly inaccurate article PFR provided a link to in another thread.

Thanks for the update, that's great news! Glad you were happy with the second opinion too. Hopefully there will be less stress for you all knowing exactly what you are dealing with and having reassurance on your management choices -
I love your thread updates KTB! They are always so positive and enjoyable to read.

Sorry to hear this R&B. You sound like you're having tough time of it with your lot recently. There are no orthopaedic specialists up here in Cairns. There are a few specialists who come up periodically for clinics but I'm not sure if orthopods are amongst those, and if so when the next visit is scheduled. Talking to the JCU vet in Townsville might be helpful too - not sure what they offer in terms of specialist ortho surgery but if you don't have any luck in Cairns at least its only 4 hours away compared to Brisbane. Can't hurt to get a few opinions. :) Which vet do you use in Cairns?
