  1. if only it have been launched just finished my stash of BH, guess i'll get a small pack
  2. i would try drontal on the next dose again call me stubborn but i do think the dosage might have been a little too much for him. hopefully in the next 1 month he puts on enough weight (healthily of course) to take one 1 tablet. besides drontal what else do you guys use? only brand i hear of is drontal, maybe i could start researching on other brands
  3. haha i know what you mean but 2 nights back he was whining and grunting then goes back to sleep usually once he is awake from his nap he wants attention but that night he was awfully by himself this morning after meal poop i saw another roundworm (i think) in his stool. i never really dig through his poop just that this one time, part of the worm's body was on the surface. but he is more active today so that is a good sign. am i wrong to assume a dog will only poop out worms when on worming tablets? or can a dog still poop out worms despite not being on any worming medication? im just trying to guess why am i only seeing worms now and not earlier and im wondering whether the drontal from friday was in his vomit although i mashed it up into fine grains. since drontal might have been a little rough on him, i'll definitely look for another softer alternative. thanks guys
  4. i wont say he is well though when he sleeps he makes noises like something is bothering him. not barking or anything, more like a combination of whining and agitation, like an irritated kid. didnt vomit after last night and yeah he eats well. gobbles them all up. just wondering what is going on in his tummy. oh i'll wait and see
  5. i missed my puppy's worming schedule by 5 days yesterday i got hold of a drontal chewable and fed it to my dog with his dinner. 3 to 4 hours later he was restless, whining and making noise. soon after his whole stomach started making this weird loud noise that made me think he was going to vomit. he stood still and his neck was moving like a wave in unison with the sound of the stomach. *splut* out it came vomit, undigested food. i still could see the kibble but he didnt vomit his entire dinner, the vomit was about the size of a kid's fist. straight away i thought it was a side effect of the drontal and a quick search showed that some dog owners here experienced vomitting after giving drontal. so alright maybe it was too strong for him or the dosage might be a little too much but it was given by the vet accordingly to his weight. he just tips 5kg so according to the bayer dosage sheet, 5.1kg to 10kg is 1 tablet (medium chew) and anything less than 5kg is 1/2 tablet. just because my puppy pipped the 5kg barrier by 500g he is prescribed twice the dosage than he would be given if he were 500g lighter. could this also be a factor why it might have been too strong for him? fast forward to the morning poop accident in the crate so while cleaning up the crate i see this dried-up looking shriveled up worm (i suspected its a worm, a dead one). it was translucent in colour and i would say it was like a translucent light yellow. smeared with poop but im guessing the colour would be more like spaghetti when its was still alive, roundworm perhaps? i thought it was grass but it had a worm like texture and the inside of the worm was the sort of sand vein you see in a prawn. my question is, did the worms come about because i missed his drontal by 5 days? or was it cause the drontal kicked in and started expelling out some worms. he was given drontal since he was with the breeders so im guessing real hard when the worms settled in.
  6. i did suspect this at first so now i have a big towel covering the gate and the sides. i am using some airline approved pet carriers which i thought would be less exposed than those wired crates but it seems he like pitch black darkness, maybe i'll try to seal up the crate even more to make it darker inside
  7. my dog had no issues with staying in the crate when he first came, that was for the past 1 1/2 weeks. i did according to how they said to introduce the crate to my puppy and it worked! he happily stayed inside to sleep or play. now when i put him back into his crate he would bark. i ignore him but he would stop after 5 mins in the day which to me is quite fine cause usually he whines for 5 mins but everything ceases in 5. but at night be it 10pm or 3am he isnt so nice. he will keep on barking despite me ignoring him. so i created this 'naughty room' for him to quieten down. it is this small empty space beneath a built in wardrobe, slightly larger than 60x60cm measured by the training pads. the first time i put him in his 'naughty room' he barked like the world was gonna end but since the wardrobe did a really good job suppressing the sound i didnt have problems letting him go on and on and on, doubt the neighbours even heard anything. so today is like the 2nd-3rd day where im having problems with my puppy going back to his crate but i have discovered that when placed into the naughty room, he doesnt bark hysterically anymore. maybe some whining and barking but he will eventually go quiet even quicker than 5 mins. now i am starting to think that the naughty room is his new chill out place and the crate has become the naughty room now, "no i dont want to be in this crate *woof woof woof*" im starting to have the idea of putting his crate in the wardrobe but i dont want my clothes to stink and neither do i want him to have poor ventilation. whats up with my puppy? why does he like the naughty room or not the nice bedroom. argh
  8. i am a student so im home most of the week. lessons would take me away for about 3-4 hours, 2 - 3 times a week depending. im mostly home but i have work to do every now and then. i thought he can occupy himself with toys when im busy, we'll be in the same room so he can see me. when im not busy i'll play and train him. he'll be 8 weeks when he comes, would a total of 4 hours/day of play be too exhausting? im always reminding myself its still a baby so nothing too vigorous. i might be being over cautious here for no reason. since im always home and he will be following me about the house supervised i thought a pen would be redundant. correct me if i am wrong, sometimes what i think is ok isnt exactly right. cheers
  9. hello guys im getting my puppy in the coming week and i am in dilemma. i am quite lost as to how crates and crates in a pen work. i scoured various dog forums and the pictures dog owners share tell me that some only have a crate, some put their crates in the pen. i understand dogs dont soil their den when you pick an appropriate sized crate. then i thought what if i were to be nice and give the puppy more space by putting the crate in a pen, will he take the pen area as his backyard and decide to take a leak there. preferably i'll like his area to be as small as possible while not being cruel but would it be too small for a puppy to play or chew his chew toys inside? the puppy will definitely have space to sleep but not sure about other activities. what do you guys do for your new puppies?
  10. From the looks of it bh does look very promising. I'm getting a puppy soon and I want him on it too, are samples still being given out? Any difference between the adult and puppy or is it just packaging?
  11. Am I still able to get some samples or can I only buy the smallest pack now?
  12. wow didn't expect that many replies.. I feel more comfortable after hearing your replies, thanks for that! silly me for not mentioning I'm looking for a pembroke corgi. It was narrowed down from a couple of breeds. I did consider the jrt and beagle too but after reading up on each breed and watching countless YouTube videos on each of them, talking to friends and relatives who own them, I soon realised that the Pembroke was going to be a more ideal choice. One factor was my lifestyle suited a corgi more than the other breeds and partly I like what I am going to expect from a corgi. I rang up a few breeders and some sure asked many questions while others didn't, partly they aren't the breeders themselves just a friend helping with the welping and such. those that asked many questions were fairly impressed over the phone I would say, I work from home and it's like flexi hours. I have experience with dogs (family pet) and I'm quite the outdoor person. I love going for walks and a dog will give me more reason to continue walking lol. I don't believe in staying home and teaching a dog not to bark just because the dog is restless. But of course the rest is up to the breeders to believe, for all you know he/she thinks I'm lying just to get the puppy lol. Whether or not they believe I don't really bother cause I know the dog i get will be in good care, I treat dogs like human although the species are somewhat different. I'm really open to recommendations! That would really help me, I prefer breeders not too far away although I won't discount interstate if it's highly recommended. It is just that I would like to be able to take a drive up for my dog to meet his/her siblings or parents. They may be dogs but they have family too and I'll really hope I could do that, not just drop the cash and remove the puppy from the family forever. hope to hear more from you guys.
  13. Hey guys I got a couple of question about the purchase of a puppy. Apologies if this have been posted before, a quick google did not show me anything about "fake pedigree" papers. Well I sought for a registered breeder from dogzonline and of course I picked one which seem to have produced quite a line of champions (sounds good eh?). Googled their champion dogs, family and all. Ok all good, gave the breeder a ring to ask if she has any or would be having any puppies soon and was told, "we do have puppies they are not 8 weeks yet but I don't have them you have to call mrs x". So the puppies are not with the breeder but someone else, I'm guessing perhaps the bitch belonged to someone else or whatever reason it may be. My concern is, who writes up these pedigree papers? My imagination runs wild into thinking they are breeding 2 random dogs and the pedigree papers writes up champion parents. More likely I'm being paranoid. Could someone enlighten me how pedigree papers are written out? Cheers guys.
