  1. Yes, I would like that right about now too, it will pay for Zayda's tooth! Glad to hear he has bounced back so quickly... hopefully Zayda will with her's too... gives me hope
  2. Glad he is home and doing ok... My vet has actually warned us that having the pre-molars removed is a BIG job... The roots are big and tenacious, so you actually have to open the gum (in a triangular flap above the tooth) and break the roots down to get the tooth out. Can take quite some time to do as well depending on the individual's teeth. for Asher
  3. Oh, good luck with it... hope it all goes well and it's just the one tooth that needs to come out! Big scritches for Asher before his op!
  4. No problems... let us know how it all goes... Indeed... Thanks! If I remember, I'll pop in and let you know how we go...
  5. My Zayda is about to have a premolar removed... she's had it fractured for years, but she recently lost more of it, so it's time to come out before it gets infected... It's good to go to the vets and get them checked to make sure, so good on you for doing so and the other thing you can do whilst you are there is learn how to clean those particular teeth for Asher. It's often important to clean broken teeth, as they collect more plaque than other teeth as their surface has become fissured and it collects in the ridges. With good cleaning a fractured or chipped tooth can last a long while, as long as it wasn't too bad in the first place. Zayda and MY Asher wish YOUR Asher all the best with his teeth!
  6. Oven @ 200c whole liver on baking paper on tray cook for 40min cool, then dice and freeze in portions It's very dry on the hand this way (i.e. not sticky or anything) but has the yummy flavour and smell the dogs like. General consensus I hear from trainers here is that lamb's fry is less stinky than beef livers. I do duck livers for the allergy crew... EFS
  7. No worries... hope they help out... Ok, I wont get too excited about puppy breath then...
  8. Pup diets definitely take a bit more effort... Monica Segal's books are full of good info to help on this: http://www.dogwise.com/itemdetails.cfm?ID=DN246 http://www.dogwise.com/itemdetails.cfm?ID=DN270 And KBZ's vet has a book out too, which has some info on puppies: http://www.fremantlepress.com.au/authors/529/Dr+Clare+Middle http://www.claremiddle.com/book.htm I got my copy in Dymocks, so it shouldn't be too hard to find. If it is hard to find over there, I'm sure one of us could post you a copy if you want. So, spill the beans: does this mean a new puppy???
  9. Ah, cool... p/t does suck! :D Still, I'm sure we can find someone through your net work that may know!
  10. Oh, good work!! :D I'm sure all that knowledge will come in handy!! Well done... Have you had anything to do with administrative law? I had some interesting discussions with someone that this was the area we should be looking in to in regards to getting rid of BSL...
  11. Bwahaha - I just came back into this thread to write the exact same thing Great minds, as they say, my friend... although, in our case, I think it may be more a case of "evil" ones...
  12. Mwahahaha! Of course there is nothing wrong with being able to form a good argument and slant it in the right direction, particularly if you are a lawyer (job to win the case after all!!), and if the argument is your argument and it's in your favour, well that's great isn't it?! But if you are going to argue against a website like that you have to know how to do it hey? And pointing out the bias is important! And they definitely have one because it's how they make their bread and butter... I don't have anything at all against lawyers as a bunch of people (know plenty of great ones!), but that particular mob ARE ambulance chasers and well earn the title!! And, of course, you realise you have "outed" yourself now and we will be making use of lawyerly abilities with the BSL stuff... :D
  13. Oh, them... ambulance chasing lawyers.... been around for years... they make their living out of scaring the crap out of people... ETA: of course you could always point out to whoever that Lawyers make their money out of slanting the argument in THEIR favour, so they are pretty good at it, but it means there's a huge bias in their work normally
  14. It's rare, but it can happen... my poor eldest came home itchy at 7weeks and just got worse... For all the dogs that follow the text book case pattern, it's important to remember that there is a few who don't Whitka I'd be looking for another vet too, and maybe even a ref to a Derm to discuss it with the experts if a second opinion from a GP Vet still doesn't give much good info... Have a read of this thread: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...ayda+asher+here It's got a lot of good info in it. ETA: If you read it through to the end too you can follow the story of my eldest, Zayda, being retested and the development of a whole bunch more allergies...
  15. Hey guys I got a hold of a version with the soundtrack... if anyone is interested PM me an e-mail addy and I can send it to you
  16. :D Woohoo! Thanks so much... I just couldn't remember what the video was... That's grand... it's fine without music, I just needed a couple of the images... Thanks again
  17. Yeah, that sounds like the one!! Cheers... :D Yeah, pretty much... It was when the big push for BSL was happening here...
  18. There used to be a video someone had put together of graphic photos of dog bites from "safe breeds" Anyone got a copy or a link?
  19. Is Morris place the street name? Innaloo is just near me too and I'm looking for a butcher that might be able to get me more exotic stuff..
  20. Who said the APBT was 'done and dusted'!!! It's reading things like this that just prove what can be achieved if people don't give up I believe It's only a matter of time that will prove just how wrong and unfair BSL Is, and that there are other alternatives. Hoping that not only will It be reformed but for a long awaited chain reaction Yep, great news isn't it? Done and dusted my bottom!!
  21. Even castrated males can and do get erections on occasion... I think our neutered male is more upset about his occasional stiffies than we ever are!
  22. No worries ;) The Phenergan should be fine to leave her on through out the elimination diet... I'm glad to hear it is working for you! Its mostly the other supplements that you need to be careful of as they could all be allergens too. We are on Phenergan ourselves and were going to trial Zyrtec as a change for Zayda, but have had to put it off as they have lactose in them, so it is worth checking everything, but normally antihistamines are fine. If you look in the link to the other thread I posted up Zayda's latest intradermal test sheet so you can see all that they test for (although this will vary slightly in different areas, but you can get an idea). We are also in the process of redoing an elimination diet for her too, which is why we had to hold on the antihistamine change. They can even be allergic to things like moths and ants so there's heaps it could be without testing and, therefore, knowing for certain its hard to tell! good luck with her!
  23. The most important thing with allergies is working out what you are treating... there's no point throwing a lot of stuff at the dog if you don't know... get through testing and then you can start looking at options for things as you may be trying things that the dog is potentially allergic to. Also I would be using a medicated shampoo if she has bad yeast infection... And it might also be worth looking at other diseases that produce itching etc. like thyroid... ETA: Also if you haven't looked at this thread: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=149694 you may want to as I put a lot of info here...
