My dog with the highest prey drive is a Standard Poodle. She kills anything small and fluffy she can get her paws on. Bullmastiffs are pretty laid back and I doubt they would have as much prey drive as GSD.

Getting A Big Dog A Small Dog Friend....
*kirty* replied to EllieDog's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't know. I have three big dogs (all 25kg approx) and three tiny dogs (2.5-6kg) and they all live together. However, the big dogs rough house with each other and the small dogs generally play separately. The big dogs are very gentle with the small dogs but they are not super boisterous anyway. I would be concerned about a goofball lab with a tiny puppy. -
Will send you a private message.

Where abouts in Victoria? My first choice would be Dr Arthur House at VRH in Hallam.

I have five dogs and 11 cats. The vet bills are nothing compared to the feed bills. I spend around 300-400 per month on food and flea/worm treatment. I am a vet nurse so I get medications and vaccinations at cost price. Pets are blood expensive.

Time to see a specialist. It's been too long with not much change and your local vets may be missing something that a specialist will pick up.

If it helps, my puppy with a severe heart condition had to have surgery when he was about 4 months old. The heart specialist wrote up a drug protocol and instructions for the vet who did the surgery. It was so worrying but like you, there was no other option. He came through fine! I know it's different for Amber but I think she will do great x

Yep I've gotten all my dogs when working full time. No issues at all. :) -
That was fantastic and so interesting! Loved it. :) This is the website where you can play games to test your own dog's intelligence. https://www.dognition.com/

That is scary, but hopefully she will be fine. Will the specialists do the op?

I would go for a whippet. They are gorgeous! Bigger and generally more outgoing than IGs, great for agility. I have two IGs and a Greyhound and I would love a Whippet next.

This is Preston. ???? He is a 14yo Toy Poodle and he is completely blind. I *accidentally* brought him home last week lol. He has fitted in so well and is the most gorgeous little man. He comes everywhere with me and sleeps cuddled up with me in bed (along with the other dogs!). He gets up and down from the beds and couch and navigates the backyard already. He is such a little trooper, barely notice he is there!

It's not really an obesity gene though. It isn't a gene that makes them process fat differently or store fat etc. It's a hunger gene. As everyone else says, hungry doesn't equal fat.

I'm so sorry. -
Every time one of my dogs has been attacked I have booted the attacking dog as hard as I could until someone else came to help. When the attacking dog is in full frenzy mode, they don't feel pain. Someone else has had to choke and pull the attacking dog off mine.

I use Dishlicker polar fleece coats for mine with a weatherbeeta over the top for cold/wet days. :)
