Do You Have A Foster That You Regret Rehoming?
*kirty* replied to Staffyluv's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Yes. Think about him all the time and wish I had kept him. -
I had to teach my cats to stand up to the dogs. Trim the cats nails first! Then I would hold the cats facing the dog as it approached and if the dog rushed, I would 'shove' the cat towards the dog. The dog always backed off and the cats soon learnt that standing their ground would deter the dog. You also need to be VERY strict with the dog and reward calm behaviour around the cats.

Hop onto ebay and look for temporary fence panels. They are usually about 2m x 2m, made of mesh, easy to stick up and cost about $60 each. You could make a second back fence, just bring it in a few metres from the existing back fence.

I have a trap you can borrow. Send me a message. :)

Well perhaps its a good thing that the news has picked up the story. Maybe people will soon realise that BSL has not reduced dog bites at all and that ANY dog of any breed can bite.

Just want to applaud Cobram Vet Clinic for refusing to PTS these poor dogs. Good on them for making a stand. RIP Bear and Kooda.

My sighthound doesn't like dryfood because she doesn't like to chew. So I have chosen a dryfood with smaller sized bits and I mix it with either chicken or beef mince. They get approx 50% raw meat and 50% dryfood. I like the idea of feeding raw but don't have the time/will to do it properly. Add in a few chicken frames and a big meaty bone each week and that works for us.

I've heard of people having that problem with Ensal (well, their pets having that problem!). Perhaps add some pumpkin to her chicken and rice?

How Long Does It Take To Digest Food?
*kirty* replied to *kirty*'s topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Had a FNA done and the lump is just a lipoma. :) Vet is happy with her gut too, no sign of a blockage. I think she is just a strange dog! :) -
It can be fatal in puppies and otherwise unwell dogs. It can lead to secondary infections and that is what kills them.

Just found a big lump on her rib cage so she is going to the vet tomorrow now regardless. Its in an awkward spot and I thought it was a muscle at first (its flat against her body) but its only on one side. She has had lots of fatty lumps over the years so fingers crossed. Will get them to check her tummy while she's there. -

Called my vet and she didn't seem concerned. She thinks its unlikely to be a blockage because there has been no other signs - no other vomits, no pain, etc. So she said to just watch her for any signs of discomfort but she didn't seem worried. My old girl is currently snoozing at the end of my bed so she seems fine. :) -
Royal Jelly? :D

Have confirmed that nobody else has fed her. I'm almost positive it was dog roll - it even smelt like dog roll! Will take her to the vet tomorrow.
