  1. Yes many vets will sedate and clip a dog for you.
  2. Don't get your hopes up too much staffyluv. I hope she fits back in perfectly but be prepared that she might not. I'll kerp everything crossed for you though xx :)
  3. It does look like pretty typical flea allergy to me. Poor boy. He does sit oddly but it might not be anything to worry about. Does he walk and run and otherwise move normally?
  4. Sorry chezy, a rescue group has asked if they could have it but if they no longer need it, I'll ask them to pass it on.
  5. Stevie was a small GSD for idea on size. If no rescue want it in the next few days, you can have it.
  6. I have a thundershirt that I would like to give away. Size large, standard grey colour. Only used a handful of times. Pick up from Eastern suburbs of Melbourne or I can post at your expense (shouldn't cost much). I bought it for Stevie so would like it to go to someonr who needs it.
  7. Is she on clomicalm? Clomicalm did NOTHING for my dog. While I agree meds might not be what Roo needs, I believe that the latest recommended drug for anxiety and anxious behaviour is Prozac. We had a specialist animal behaviourist speak at our work a few weeks ago and she said that was what she would use for a dog with SA.
  8. Brushing him regularly with a soft bristled brush can help stimulate the skin and hair follicles too. :)
  9. No they are not allowed to be used as gundogs (not in Vic anyway). I know duck hunters here can only use purebred dogs of certain breeds and poodles arent on that list.
  10. And you cant use them as gundogs in Vic either.
  11. I've had several nasty experiences when walking my dogs, and am always on the lookout for approaching dogs or loose dogs. But its amazing how much more nervous I am since I got the Iggies. My big dogs at least can defend themselves, the Iggies wouldn't stand a chance. I always walk them with my big dogs and am thinking about carrying a stick too.
  12. Our office manager needs to board her two Golden Retrievers in May. They have never been to kennels before and she is stressing about it. :) She is in Nunawading but will travel. Ideally the dogs can be kenneled together. Thanks!
  13. Stop the metacam if he is unwell - it can cause stomach upsets.
  14. Juice, have you looked into getting cyclosporin drops made up instead? We compound them at work and its much cheaper than optimmune.
  15. Has the dog been checked for extra eyelashes?
  16. I swap 1 chicken frame for 1 cup of dryfood - so my big dogs get 2-3 frames for a meal. :)
  17. Blood vessels on the cornea usually just means its trying to heal. It looks less angry but its a bit hard to see. :)
  18. I dont think so. Looks like a viper maybe?
  19. I know some foreign substances don't show up well on x-ray (I think toy stuffing etc) so perhaps dont cross it off just yet. Dont have any other ideas sorry. My tip though would be to get some Hills A/D for her. Great for boosting unwell babies. That stuff is like liquid gold and I credit it for saving several very sick animals over the years. Poor little baby - hope you get to the bottom of it soon.
  20. I'm so sorry for your losses Aloysha and Tikira.
  21. Thought this was appropriate in here...
  22. My girl has a great recall, but I only ever let her off lead in fully fenced areas. Just not worth the risk.
  23. Not sure about the lead part, but when I was taking Pia to obedience they said she didnt need a muzzle when 'under direction' from an instructor. I had to have the muzzle on before class, take it off during class, then put it back on to walk back to the car. So perhaps the same applies for being off lead?
  24. Iodine also kills yeast so you could try wiping his feet and ears out with that.
