  1. Haha the vast majority of people posting in this thread work tirelessly in rescue. Hoarding animals, warehousing animals and keeping animals in sub-standard conditions is NOT ethical rescue. I run a private rescue myself and as much as I wish I could save everything, I know that I can't. So I focus on rescuing properly - with proper quarantine, safe and enriching housing, appropriate training and socialisation, and the best food I can afford. Taking on more animals would negatively impact the quality of life for the current fosters. Sometimes people need to realise their limitations and that understand the 'save everything at whatever cost' is not always in the best interest of the animals.
  2. I wouldnt risk it yet. Vaccinated dogs can very occasionally get parvo.
  3. Do any rescue groups have any dogs in care with glaucoma? I have some meds free to someone who needs them.
  4. Yes 6 dogs lol. And I was in there too! That's my leg on the right.
  5. Yes she'll be going to the vet very soon. I'm a vet nurse so normally I just take her to work and they check her out for me, but we are an ophthalmology only clinic so not really up to date with any general vet stuff. So I'm going to go to my local vet and get a full work up done.
  6. The kids have taken over my bed, so the dogs and I are camping out in my son's room. They have decided that because this room is different, they should all sleep on the bed with me. Its only a king single bed... As I took this second photo, one of the cats bolted down the hall and I got sychronised head swivels lol.
  7. She is 12yo. She was on vivitonin for a while but then it stopped working. She is currently on ginko and omega 3 plus the Hills BD food.
  8. So glad to hear Mac is still going well. :) My poor Maisie isn't doing so well. She has lost a bit of weight and has gone back to her loopy ways. Last night she was on my bed and I heard this chewing noise - turned the light on and she was chewing the blanket on my bed! I said 'Maisie! Maisie stop!' and she ignored me and kept chewing. I tapped her on the bum and she spun around like 'Oh you were talking to me'. Her hearing is pretty good so it was like she forgot her name. She sat up and looked at me and for the first time, I saw her as an old dog. Made me feel so sad. She is still on all the meds and supplements but nothing seems to be helping anymore.
  9. Yes guide digs and assistance dogs are selected fir calm, stable temps. Whereas the customs dogs are more like working line Labs and are bred for their drive. It's like comparing apples and oranges. I wouldn't want to live with a customs dog lol.
  10. And me too. You are all in my thoughts, its just a crappy situation.
  11. Surely you could counter claim that they were trespassing?? Totally crazy!!
  12. I think in NSW you can have them offlead.
  13. Great news! The gorgeous boy is such a fighter! :)
  14. Takes me well over 2 hours to groom Toby (Std Poodle) just in a pet clip! She lies there and enjoys it. If the dogs hated it, they would fidget and lie down - certainly not good candidates for this kind of grooming. I know someone who does this with her dogs and they are trained right from pups. They enjoy being groomed and love the attention they receive from the public.
  15. Mine came to work today but they often do. :)
  16. I think the vet is entirely at fault. How is Joe Bloggs at home supposed to measure out 0.5ml? That is a minute dose. Nurofen is for people, not cats. If the cat was in pain she should have told him to go to the emergency vet or come back to her clinic and seen it. Or better yet it should have been given appropriate pain relief before discharge.

    Raiden

Oh no!! Lhok my heart is breaking for you. So very unfair. RIP Raiden, too special for this world.
  18. I'm so sorry to hear about Bobbie. He was so lucky to spend those few weeks with you, and learning what it's like to be loved. RIP Bobbie and big hugs to you Rascal
  19. Oh my gosh, those sighthounds are amazing! I want one! £80 each plus postage though...
  20. I wish I could leave mine inside but they are far too naughty! And working full time, its not fair to crate them. The IGs come to work with me most days but I cant take 6 dogs lol. Might get a combination lock for the gate. Easier to open regularly. The yard is set well back from the road and my dogs aren't exactly high on the list of dog thieves (all old, desexed and/or non-target breeds) but I guess you never know.
  21. Its locked but not padlocked. Need to get one, but its a pain because we use the side gate a lot.
  22. How disgusting. He really is a piece of work. As someone said earlier, I dare say he has formed this opinion after realising the similarities of the puppy farm with Moorook.
  23. My dogs are securely contained, but that doesn't stop someone opening the gate.
