  1. But it doesn't hurt the dog so who cares?
  2. Yes that's right. They make a pocket for the gland and suture it back into position. This gland produces a lot of the tears that the eye needs to stay healthy. Local vets used to just cut the gland out, but that would lead to dry eye later in life.
  3. ECtropion is when the eyelids are loose and sag away from the eye. ENtropion is when the eyelid rolls in and rubs on the eye. Cherry eye is when the third eyelid gland pops out of its normal position.
  4. Definitely see a specialist. Ectropion surgery is generally only recommended in severe cases. He may simply have allergic conjunctivitis or lazy/blocked tear ducts.
  5. Cherry eye is a prolapsed third eyelid gland. It is not painful, but the gland dries out and becomes irritated. If left untreated, it can lead to dry eye which is painful and expensive to treat. Most local vets can perform the surgery, but make sure they REPLACE the gland NOT remove it. :)
  6. I don't want to stir trouble, but Rascal's dog could have picked up parvo from anywhere. It is obviously in the area. Both dogs were unvaccinated.
  7. They are very similar and both are short acting. As far as I know methadone is used more frequently in vet clinics, but sometimes vets say morphine to clients because most people know what morphine is. But maybe you can ring and ask?
  8. If they gave her methadone, she will be completely stoned which may explain the wobbles and wimpering. I think it only lasts 6hrs though so she really needs some ongoing pain relief. Ideally anti-inflams PLUS strong pain relief.
  9. Oh no, that is awful. Poor little Feather. I hope she is just very bruised and no serious damage has been done.
  10. I think if you want the dog to work at night, it will need to sleep during the day - which rules out going to work, etc.
  11. Is it excitement or fear do you think? My foster Pug screams when we get close to my work because he is so excited lol.
  12. Is he on fluids? I just minded a dog with pancreatitis, we put him on fluids for 3 days and it helped so much. He refused all food so we ended up trying My Dog Light and he ate that. I was told to aim for around 4% fat.
  13. I'm so sorry Mooper. He was a gorgeous boy. RIP Jack.
  14. Love it! They didn't get mad at Tank, the guy even says its his fault at the start of the video.
  15. Yep, standard desexing tattoo.
  16. If anyone has cats or kittens in care, I'm happy to offer advice from afar it it might help. What a crappy situation.
  17. That's what Pia does when I try and move her sometimes. I don't think the dog was stressed, just being naughty!
  18. Are there any groups that can step up and help these poor carers?
  19. My work colleague went through this last year - old dog with osteosarc, she amputated and did chemo. I think they got 6 months with her. Personally, after seeing what she went through, I would PTS. Amputation is a massive surgery and I'm not sure that the benefits outweigh the negatives in thise case. I'm really sorry.
  20. Snakecatcher. :) He is busy on callouts I imagine! I have him on FB and he has been very busy lately.
  21. TSD and Kirislin, you and the animals are always welcome at my place if things get hairy.
