  1. I work at a specialist vet clinic and we do DNA tests quite often. You are correct, it is a simple cheek swab. I believe you just order one kit, but request both tests. A parentage test is different - that test is to confirm the parents of the dog.
  2. Hehe yes, she really is a cutie. Which is just as well because otherwise I may have strangled her by now lol.
  3. You can order the test kits online, and then get any vet to do the swab and sign the form. http://www.animalnetwork.com.au/dnatesting/ http://www.animalnetwork.com.au/dnatesting/onlineorder.php
  4. I give up, photobucket not working for me tonight.
  5. She's back, cheeky as ever. Will get some photos of her later. :)
  6. Well the little terror will be coming back for a while so I'll get to know her some more. :D
  7. Yes, I was very impressed with her. As I said, never had much to do with the breed but I liked her. Found her very challenging at first, but once I got to know her, I realised how smart she was and how affectionate she was. :)
  8. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure he will continue to watch over you from the bridge. RIP Casper xx
  9. Nothing missing, she was not my puppy. I just wanted to know if it was normal/typical behaviour or if I should be concerned, she was smart as a whip, and really grew on me. I can see you have to earn their respect. :)
  10. Thanks, good to hear its pretty normal. :) Megan, for example she is biting my foot, so I say 'ah!' and push her off. She will stand there and bark at me! I always swap her if she has something she shouldn't. She had tonnes of toys and things to destroy when she was here. I actually really miss her! :)
  11. I run mine at a fenced oval or the power line easment rather than a dog park. I only let them off when there are no other dogs. Its too risky to let them play with random dogs, too many idiots. I want my dogs to have fun running around, I'm not looking to socialise them. I'd find a quiet spot and organise play dates with dogs that you know are social.
  12. I recently minded a 13wo JRT puppy. She was a little ball of teeth and madness lol. I'm a terrier noob so it was certainly an eye opener for me. Anyway, I have some questions about her behaviour. She was VERY mouthy and if I scolded her or told her 'no' she would growl or bark at me. Is this just normal terrier behaviour or something else? She was also quite bossy with other dogs - would 'guard' me from my own dogs, snap if they got in her face, etc. Again, is this normal or is she likely to grow up to be DA?
  13. I think 3 or 4 is perfect. :) I often take all four out walking, but its also nice to be able to take one or two out and know that the others aren't home alone. I have six here at present (two fosters) and it is hard work!
  14. I have three med-large dogs and an Italian Greyhound. They all love each other but they aren't left alone unsupervised.
  15. Chirnside Park do, I think East Malvern might too?
  16. I have four - three medium sized, one small. I like having four but it is hard work with full time work, kids, etc. Still wouldn't change it. :D
  17. Herding was great, he really loved it. I don't think he has the drive to do it competitively but it fun. He was knacked afterward, but by the time we got home he was ready to go again. I put him outside to make my lunch and he started barking within seconds. He just runs around the yard barking. I think its getting to the point that I need to consider a barking collar of some sort. We have neighbours and if they complain, we will be screwed.
  18. Lillydale Lake has a nice walking track, and an offlead park at the end. :)
  19. I've just gotten in touch with someone who does herding classes in my suburb! So he is enrolled for Sunday. :D
  20. He is doing well but we are still having issues with barking. He loves going for walks and even had a swim in the lake the other day.
  21. I think Prahran does free dental checks, and maybe Croydon?
