  1. Funny thing happened last night! Jolie and the puppies are in my son's room now and I have just started leaving the door open because she is fine with the cats and other dogs having a look. Jolie has been starting to leave the pups for longer periods of time and having cuddles in bed with me at night. Last night she had a genius idea - put the pups in my bed! I woke up yo squeaking and there was one puppy in my bed and one on the floor next to my bed. I put them back but an hour later, she had brought another puppy in! Haha! So I had to shut her away after that. Too scared I'll squash one.
  2. We had a few shockers come through when I was grooming. Worst was a gorgeous little fluffy that ended up with severe burns all over her tummy because the blades were so hot. The moron groomer apparently didn't notice??? Poor dog must have been in so much pain. Thankfully she was a sweet dog and was still lovely to groom.
  3. The thing is, while a sock collar or electric fence might seem cruel, what other options do you have? If she keeps escaping she may get shot by a neighbour, hit by a car, lost in the bush... Hopefully you will only need the deterrents short term but I don't think you have much choice.
  4. None of mine are lickers, thank god. I hate it! Jolie will sometimes do silly licks of my face when she is in a silly mood but that's it. I'm a vet nurse and couldn't care less about blood, poop or puke - but dog drool makes me gag lol. ETA I love kissing my dogs though. :D
  5. Oh I just love her!!! Would love to meet her one day. :)
  6. Quick update, I saw this dog recently and his owners have cut down his food and he has dropped a few kg. He looks so much better! They have really taken all the advice on board. :) Also found out the stupid trainer who told them he was too thin, also told them that you should fast your dog one day a week...
  7. Adults once a day, puppies two-three times a day.
  8. I know, if only human bodies bounced back as quickly after having babies haha.
  9. I don't know that time-outs really work for puppies - they very quickly forget what they are being punished for. I think it's time to find a really good trainer to help you get back on track with your little munchkin.
  10. Babies had their dew claws done today. I waited outside with Jolie lol. They are growing like weeds, especially Fatty Fawn. ???? Here is Jolie waiting for me to pass her some more food. She will only eat from my hand at the moment lol. Little fatties Red Girl #2
  11. Sooky baby, squealing cos someone was too close to HER booby!
  12. Sorry westiemum, I meant that because the dog is relatively young and the issue seems relatively minor, it might be better to try something other than NSAIDs first. NSAIDs can be detrimental to kidney function so aren't great long term IF you can avoid them. Obviously if a dog needs them, they need them. :) However for minor arthritis it might be wise to try cartrophen injections and something like joint guard first.
  13. I completely agree that quality over quantity is important. However the OP said the dog is only 13yrs old and just has stiff knees.
  14. There are different brands, generic brands, etc. I agree that it is not ideal long term, especially for oldies. Has she had bloods done recently? NSAIDs can effect kidney function if it is already impaired. Have you considered cartrophen injections or the other injectable arthritis drug whose name has escaped me...
  15. I haven't had tiny puppies for almost 10 years. :) And I have to say that it's a totally different experience when it's your own dog vs a rescue dog. ???? Weigh in this morning and babies have each gained roughly 20g. Jolie kept a close eye on proceedings.
  16. I know! I love their tiny pink paws. ????
  17. Mim, I can't take my eyes off them! ????????????
  18. Snook I melt a bit of cheese in the microwave then mould it around tablets. :)
