  1. Steve my understanding of the process is that the group that physically rescues/takes on the animal pays for all that themselves, from their own funds/donations. They also have a circle of fosters pre checked by themselves. The rescue groups I follow have all vet work done prior to adopting. Therefore when PR are NOT a rescue group but simply share/pass on the info where does the money go? Since it seems easy to purchase an animal from Hawkesbury who then send you to a local vet for subsidised treatment why do PR want donations? Of course they might be doing some donating to the rescue org that takes on the animal...I saw that in a recent post on fb that the money assists the end rescue but from comments here the rescue org does not get any of it. Just seems so unethical to me & nearly sucked me in to donating a while back, thankfully I didn't. I can't even get an answer from them as to whether or not I would get a tax invoice to claim my donation. They are too closed up & get quite vitriolic in responses or usually delete any comment they do not like.
  2. Ok, to chip in on a few posts here. I spoke to Hawkesbury pound & the dogs there are quite cheap anyway. "The cost reflects whether or not the dog is microchipped and lifetime registered – if it is it’s only $36.50, if not it can go up to a maximum of $229 depending on whether it is desexed, microchipped etc. We don’t desex the dogs here, but offer you the opportunity to have the dog desexed at a discounted rate at local vets." So how dare they tell people the donations go towards vet fees & releasing the dog. They are NOT a rescue group, simply copy & paste pound pics, rarely with temp. info. They ask you to fill in a foster/adopt form which is then just passed on. I just do not get how they can do this. It has to be unethical. The red banner was new last night. I once saw someone say they had deposited $250 - I was aghast!
  3. wish I thought of that. I get deleted or ignored. I just saw this post "We still need to assist financially when dogs are fostered as rescue groups rely on donations too" & "By the way, please dont stop sending in offers of fosters! Some rescues are still able to help if we provide a carer!" Would that be right? Do they send money on? I doubt it.
  4. I was wondering if it was worth asking the pounds they post for if they are happy with them or even aware of their practices. The trouble is that they are not a rescue group so which governing body would they come under.
  5. Ok, well I emailed Hawkesbury Pound, one of the two they post for. If you like the dog your name goes on a waiting list until the due date for owner claiming etc has passed. They then contact you to take the dog...if you have changed your mind they go sown the list etc etc. "There are no comments on the dogs behaviour, as the dogs respond differently to different people, and we prefer that you come in and meet the dog yourself, to see if it is suitable for you. You are welcome to bring along your dog from home to meet our dogs too. The cost reflects whether or not the dog is microchipped and lifetime registered – if it is it’s only $36.50, if not it can go up to a maximum of $229 depending on whether it is desexed, microchipped etc. We don’t desex the dogs here, but offer you the opportunity to have the dog desexed at a discounted rate at local vets." This being the case I cannot see how they have the nerve to ask for donations..people should go straight to the pound. Obviously they only pass the name on. Just does not seem right to me. Shall see what Blacktown have to say now.
  6. Aha...you got me started again lol, I come & go checking them & chime in here & there. I was so angry they deleted both your question & my follow up question [i am Adele in case you did not guess] - which were very relevant. Most of mine get deleted too. She had a dig at me later on then deleted my post again. Feel very sorry for the people that donate. Their about page says they have a community of 5500 members - another reason for the average person not familiar with rescue to assume they are super duper.
  7. Apart from the dreadful loss of a littlies life here my huge issue with them is They are not a rescue org...they have no dogs in their physical care, yet they come across that they are. Reading all the posts 99% people assume they are a rescue org. They take an email foster/adopt application & I guess pass it on to a rescue group from there, or maybe they deal direct with the pound/shelter. It just should not be allowed. Well I shall just keep trying to post to be careful, go direct to pound holding the animal, guess I shall be blocked soon lol. BTW I knit doggie coats, preferably for small dogs, so if any of you need any for your rescues/fosters just email me.
  8. The bigger picture, IMO, is that they are not a rescue group but everyone thinks they are & so donate to help out. In response to someones query they say they are 'registered with the OLG as a licenced fundraiser, but the application is still underway for the tax exempt status. Not long now!' Can someone tell me what that means please. I am trying to support various rescues on fb & then can tell/share with friends but I get asked a lot how to tell if they are genuine. Any hints there please? When I asked why my question re a dog someone said was not good with others was removed, along with mine querying why that was not mentioned by them...I got this response 'we have so little time in between kill lists. Our primary aim is to get the dogs up on our page to give them the longest exposure possible. Once volunteers have had the time to visit, we add any notes to the profile of the dog. We are usually notified by the pound if a dog is DA or human aggressive as it is important information. Rest assured, no dog will be rehomed without obtaining as much information as possible so that the dog is placed in a suitable home and this does include imparting any knowledge on the dog showing signs of aggression/fence jumper etc. Please understand that this is not a forum for disscussion, just a platform to promote the dogs to give them the best possible chance at a happy life. However, Anyone who wants to ask indepth questions is invited to do so via email at...'
  9. I think it is very wrong that they present themselves as a rescue group. All they seem to do is copy & paste the info from Hawkesbury & Blacktown pounds. They get quite nasty in their replies & then delete your comment so it is very hard to get posters to go to a proper rescue group.
  10. What I don't like is that they are not a rescue group but a go between, who copy & paste pics & add the info. They give the impression to you that they are & that is so wrong IMO. I often post to say to people, please go directly to the pound in question as they seem to take a while in responding & people panic that the animal cannot be saved. I also asked why they needed donations since they are not the rescue group & was told that they have to assist in transport, vet bills, etc etc. As I said before I am trying to educate myself so I don't know correct procedures/methods etc so please no offence to anyone. It just does not seem right to me & I hate to think they are not doing the right thing. If they are a registered charity would their books be open to checking?
  11. I am only new to following various rescue groups etc and have seen lots of fb posts that they do not reply to emails. I keep posting go directly to the shelter or asking pertinent questions & my posts keep getting deleted. They constantly ask for donations but are vague about where it goes. I have PM some posters in the hope they will go to another rescue group. If this can get proven can't they be held liable?
