Good words. I also think some who breed, if their dogs win, if they are breeding their dogs incorrectly and not to the standard how are they going to judge other peoples dogs of that breed correctly? As in, I am in Dobermanns, there is a HUGE fad right now with bowling ball chests. Everything about a Dobermann should be "moderate" but not according to some judges. In turn, these breeders keep breeding the "winning" dogs that are not correct. If these "breeders" go on to become judges they are going to probably go on their own "winning" standards instead of the correct standard. I am rambling a bit but hopefully you get what I mean. It's sad to think how many mediocre dogs are out there because of this ridiculous program..

I want to one day become a Group 6 Judge. I get the "registred as a member of a canine body for 10 years" prerequisite BUT I am STUMPED as to why on earth I need to breed x amount of litters and have x amount of champions to qualify. No worries ANKC, I will just contribute to the millions of dogs that get put down every year when I all I want to do is judge the correctness of dogs and stop people breeding to the latest craze instead of their breed standard. I dont see WHY I have to become a breeder to do that. Can someone help explain to me why this ridiculous prerequisite is in place?

Yes you can still show here. The day, if the day ever comes where you are NOT allowed to show a legally docked dog I will be quitting showing. I am in dobes, hate them with tails, and whilst people complain that Judges dont put up their dogs because they have "tails" they dont realise its just because their dogs arent good enough! the excuses some people will make haha. Any way, the tail issue with dobes is kinda fun because most of the dobes with tails have curly tails (this is not correct),as IF the dobe was docked, the tail would clearly be what is called a "gay" tail. Its much harder to hide a bad tail set if your dog has a full tail in my breed but nonetheless the Judges dont realise bad tail sets when they see them because they cant comprehend tails to begin with! My dogs are docked by Martyn Dobermanns, I have never been asked to produce proof but I have a "sheet of paper" with their banding licence or whatever it is and my dogs registered name. Bloody RSPCA and idiotic public, cause all this mess for the rest of us when they could just be saving dogs in puppy mills and other relevant situations.

Pet hate... the blatent rudness of the people in my breed. People that are really loud in the ring for no reason. Muddy grounds so I look like I have been on the wipe out course after I get out of the ring.

I am very confident in her, have been studying for years and when my last show bitches bite went wrong I studied even harder and waited so long for this litter. I have a friend that would show her but she only goes to about 3 shows a year (distance) another friend has a minor puppy bitch this year too so shes out. I am confident in her ability to beat other dogs and I am the most critical judge of her. I went in myself the other week and hated it. I'm not interested in showing at all but I want my girl to title or at least try to title her (or another bitch if she is not worthy or healthy at adulthood) before I consider any future breeding plans as ultimately, I want to create the ultimate American dobe and unfortunately there is noone in Australia breeding the type of dobe I like, the type of dobe that conforms, in my eyes, best to the standard (she is from NZ). Any way I admire people that do it themselves I just wish there were professional handlers.. what about if people cant run or are injured? is it just who you know? She definetely wouldnt embaress anyone thats for sure, the only thing embaressing about her is me... and it sucks.

I would love to know how to get someone to handle my dog.. I'm new to it all (have dobes) my other dobe friends all handle their own dogs mainly in the same classes so cant take my girl.. I'm terrible and I'd rather not waste show entry fees showing her myself because it makes her look bad. Ive practised but I still must look like "new meat" and I honestly just want my girl to be seen in the best light possible. I would have no trouble paying a handler but its just finding one that is the trouble? any suggestions? I have an add on dogzonline but alas, no interest

Hi there There is a new test that determines what breeds are in mixed breeds (you can prove there is not 80% pitbull, then if they dont let up you can take that test as evidence and counter sue for emotional stress). Ask your vet or google haha. Good luck! Council's are horrid.

wow.. I still dont see my post as insensitive in fact I stated that I have empathy for both sides.. I was merely pointing out to the childs owner that her child is her responsibility which I am sure she knows but still..my post was not stupid because at the time of my post I had no details at all of how the attack "allegedly" happened. Settle down.

oops didnt read above posts. I agree, I have empathy for everyone in this situation.. I hope you wont be asking for this dog to be PTS though in all honestly your own son is your responsibility.. (I am not being rude or insensitive just honest).

I would love to know the story.. did the girl go up to a random dog? its not like dogs are allowed to roam free at dog shows soo yeah. I really hope this doesnt negatively effect the dog show world.

Plenty of dobe breeders are sending bitches to NZ it is their right as breeders to continue to uphold the original standard of the breed. Both my dobes are docked and it came after the ban, one breeder was in NZ any way the other sent her bitch to NZ. I know someones who's vet does this for them in Aus.. very illegal. They pretend all the tails are damaged at birth hence the no (IMP NZ) after their dogs' names. It's funny that docked breed breeders have to go to all this trouble because of the RSPCA..prime example of them wasting their time on petty stuff instead of concentrating on the bigger issues.

very very good post, I would be focusing on educating the Council and public that irresponsible BYB's are probably causing most of these attacks...when you really think about it, what "wrong type" is going to pay $3000 for a purebred pup with conditions when they probably want to jam two $150 pups together to make a buck, not knowing the outcome temperement or health wise.. thats another thing bloody RSPCA concentrating on tail docking but not on BYB's because as long as there are mutts and strays the RSPCA gets $$$$$$$$$$$ for putting them to sleep. The whole system is just stuffed,

freeze pfft they were running away! doesnt look very dobe to me but its pretty far away, cant see anything. what were the officers doing any way? were they in the dogs turf, it reads a little bit conflicting in that regard? I agree about the pile ons, if people can help rescue others out of the jaws of large sharks and crocs surely a dog wouldnt be very frightening (not for trained tough police men (sarcasm intended)? Also, why werent they carrying guns, during a raid? and if they were, why were they all so scared to shoot? seriously...
