My First Ever Visit To Centennial Park...

Pelican in second shot......gobsmacked. -
tlc do you have to tie up the gangs ears when eating? We had a spaniel cross as a child and his ears would get dirty if he ate without a hairpin. You must get lots of admirers going around with a gang of striking dogs.

Well done to the two of you. It must have been slightly stressful for the J-man to be holidaying in someone else's territory so even more remarkable that he has been able to keep his head together. Good luck for "big school" this year! -
I agree he's probably bluffing. First off the cost of one meeting with a lawyer is huge, then the lawyer would probably advise him that he has little to build a case since you personally have not harassed him. Reporting him is within normal behavior especially if he is breaking the law. If you can unobtrusively snap a pic of dog off leash you can have that in your back pocket if anything came of it. I say unobtrusively because these neighbour disputes get out of hand really quick and everyone gets unhappy. No one really wins you just end up living in an unpleasant atmosphere. Since he's acting so defensively I would try avoid adding petrol to flames if possible and just hope your impassiveness might make him realise he's acting like a jerk and leash his dog. Good luck.

Beautiful dog, maybe you advertise them as coming with a free membership to 52 weeks for dogs!

Just wondering if its okay to post from photobucket because I am a techno idiot and only just worked that out? Dogs not the only one who needs retraining I'm afraid!

It's probably a bit like a drug addict that can be cured away from their environment but as soon as they return home all the old triggers cue their addiction. Apparently a lot of Vietnam soldiers took drugs whilst involved in the war but on returning home where able to give up without any difficulty since their home environment was never associated with drug taking which could explain why she was better away from home. Moving would be extreme but if I thought it would help I'd probably consider it. Oh the things we do for our dogs. Would a backyard makeover help? Maybe less extreme than moving. -
I'm always keen but will let the dog and owner make "it's welcome " signals. When I was between dogs I was pretty pathetic, crossing roads to get a brief pat and even bursting into tears when I saw a dog that reminded me of the old man.

The way I see it all dogs are potentially dangerous, some more than others but its how they are managed by their owners that ultimately sets their danger level. I own a potentially dangerous highly reactive bull breed and micromanage him and am trying to retrain him. He has progressed very well to the point where some days on walks I will let him see a dog, up until yesterday. Most walkers in my area are very understanding about giving me space to cross the road and get behind a bin, car or bush but numpty couple who walk their "friendly so walked off leash and allowed to rush up to other dogs" mutt quietly allowed their dog to rush us from behind. Meaning I had to drag my barking dog across the road on a prong collar whilst yelling at their mutt. Abandoned walk, headed for home and about 50m down the road had to pass a lovely on leash lab who copped the worst barking at from my now badly aroused dog. So probably set us back about 2 months in training and if I was the lab owner I would probably report me. If you're a Doler my apologies!! Since I walk where I'm unlikely to see other dogs I have also had a lot of chats with some elderly people who whilst loving dogs walk in these same places because they are fearful of being knocked over by off-leashers. One lady told me she has a lovely dog that she no longer walks because she is fearful of being rushed at by off leash dogs. Good on your council for being on the ball.

Been trying to come up with a reason why it's good to have a reactive dog....tada, I get special vet entry. I go in and warn the receptionist,a path is cleared and a consult room awaits. I always carry him in over my shoulder and the whole room laughs at my " reactive" dog because he then sits with his face pressed against the glass panel next to the door looking cute. I don't think the vet really believed me and the other day insisted I go in general population to get weighed, despite warnings someone let their dog look and although I managed a hasty dash back to the consult room I think they won't ask me again and will just trust my number.

Gorgeous, imagine if you thought you were getting a medium sized Staffyluv cross ????. Love the eyes and something very Scooby Doo in the sixth photo.

Unlikely this person has a happy, fulfilled life and then tries to get other people's dogs destroyed for no apparent reason. I feel sorry for her if this is the best use if her time. Unfortunately when you're on the receiving end of this kind of thing it is worrying and creepy. Sorry you had to be the target of her ill will.

Used hotel for dogs to desensitize my reactive bulldog.... Jake gives it 5 stars. Maybe try some horse movies too, Black Stallion is a personal fave.

Jakes been on Prozac for about a month now and I think the effects are starting to come through. I now go to bathroom by myself about 60 percent if the time... bit lonely!! He's becoming quite confident in exploring the garden away from me and has taken to chasing rats in the evening. He confidently gallops down the driveway away from me after a walk and leaps into his clam shell and wallows around. We have 2 kid lets staying with us, the first day I took him away when he started looking a bit wild eyed but he learned fast and started going to a different room when he had enough. Kidlets are 4 and 6 and have no dog experience but have quickly learned to get Jake to do his tricks and they seem to be enjoying each others company. One got in the bath to help soap him up whilst the other fed him treats from the side today. Best of all he has had some fairly positive dog experiences this week. As will happen I walked slap bang into a Samoyed coming around a corner, I knew we had a dog behind us so just yelled a quick sorry and walked rapidly across the road, he cried and squeaked a bit but "came with me" and didn't try pull towards the dog. Yesterday we walked past a Cav twice, he was a bit noisy on the first sighting but was able to take treats, passed the same dog a bit later and he was enough under control that the other owner and I were able to chat across the road to each other!!! Today we had to exit the bush past 2 off leashers, my daughter went ahead to warn the owner and I walked him past the two dogs without one bark or yell, he kept walking and looking at the dogs but was able to break eye contact to look at me for a treat for the entire length of the football field!!! I never formally taught him LAT but Vicki got him to look away for a treat on our first visit , ( perfect timing) and since then he has built on this and won't offer it spontaneously but once cued will now fairly easily look and depending on the day will need more or less cueing. Holding thumbs this keeps going. -
hehe mine is a master of manipulation. He's reactive and is learning to look at me when stressed, as we approach a known dog containing house he will start looking and even if no dog appears will sit and not budge until he's "paid" for doing the right thing. I know he's genuinely stressed now but I reckon I'm going to be paying him way past when he's no longer reactive.

When you have to suck on the turkey drumstick because you are a bulldog and none of your teeth meet so you can't bite. So tired you take a snooze break and a vicious brush turkey steals it and runs away and you yell for help and your stupid slaves laugh so hard they can't run and get it. Mmmm must be harder on slaves and not let them sleep in bed from now on...

Just watch out for ornaments we lost a cockatiel who chewed a decoration the wire of which was copper. Turns out copper is toxic to birds.

I'm so sad to hear Stella is struggling, poor girl. Somewhere in general discussion is a thread asking about Xanax and others have posted their experiences... might be helpful. Jake has now been on Prozac for 2 weeks, has definitely helped with his separation anxiety (bit lonely going to bathroom by myself now). Initially he was dopey but has now picked up but it is nice to not have to leap out of bed at sunrise. I'm not really objective enough to say if it's helped with his reactivity, I hear myself always telling people he's improved but I tend to wear rosey glasses so I'll rely on my trainers impression tomorrow. My vet was not positive about putting dogs on drugs so I have ambivalent feelings about the whole thing. Lovely to have some good news, Justice and a summer bromance. Hehe Snook three in a bed you must be squished in the corner or hanging on the edge. I wish I could take Jake to a tricks class, he's such a good tricker but I've run out of tricks to teach him. He does a marvelous death roll and last week was happy to do it in front of Chilli which was great. And bulldogs upside down always make me laugh. Erik's lovely Corvus but your black dog who is so patiently watching the treats going past him is just beautiful, reminds me of my Hank, something very noble about him.
