Thinking of you and Zig tonight, snuffles from Jake.

I'm in Turramurra. I'll get some whitebait and if he turns up I'll throw him some. Maybe if he gets some extra nutrition he'll pull through.

Gosh Tully I'd kill for those eyelashes girl. And Koda, 26 hours and counting

Vicki and I discussed getting some soft toys and leaving them at her house for a week to get doggy smelling and then placing them around the house so Jake gets used to the smell, maybe it could help with her cat phobia Wobbly. I also have a copy of hotel for dogs that I put on for Jake to watch, is there a cat equivalent? Jake has no dog threshold and just thinking dog can set him off so its a good distraction to train with. -
Wires can only help if I catch him. I think if it came to that he'd probably be very stressed. He's very shy.

Weibritty Clay just keeps getting more beautiful. His friend looks a bit like a nun wearing a headdress with his big ears. Corie I just love his eyes in the second photo, caught the light beautifully. Cooper is so unique looking, beautiful eyes. Although I'm noticing Miss Tully more now, she sometimes makes me think shes having a little giggle on the side. I'm late from last week so putting up 2. Playing with the light effects Jake doing his best attempt at posing

We have a creek on our property and I occasionally see this beautiful bird around. Last week he surprised me by coming up to the pool. On editing his photos I can see why. He was able to fly away and landed in the tree, he wasn't able to completely lift the foot in flight though. Anybody have any opinions on what will happen, a fair amount of the shaft of the hook is out, I have no fishing experience so don't know how to estimate the size of the hook. I haven't seen him since last week, should I try feed him if he returns? And what should I feed him, I assume he eats fish?

Some dogs were originally bred to fight and others to flush game etc. I suppose what we would see as mean would be temperaments that suited their original purpose. High prey drive and high aggression coupled with owners who don't manage or channel all that in the right direction and you get a problem.

Mental training will wear him out more than running . Lots of fun and a way to get to know him even better is 101 things to do with a box. I'm an absolute clicker convert, would have used it on my kids if I knew about it then. It has been a very good way for me to see Jake in a positive light and I think it's been helpful for him to communicate with me and try stuff (Jake's as mad as a hatter). I would advise you to not put all your focus onto his reactivity. I do lots of tricks and have put together some agility stuff at home. It helps me see that he has so much more to offer than just the "issues". A good behaviorist in your corner is so important. You'll get to see dog ownership in a whole new way.

Yes I think he didn't know that this was his home, he used to try get into any clients car. Almost as if he wanted to go home poor thing. Resource guarding of you and defense of his territory might up the ante when he comes to regard you as his. I think being bounced around is very hard for dogs.

Just to add my boy took quite a while to settle in. He never barked at home for about 2 months, his behavior will probably be in flux right now. I don't know how that influences when you see a behaviorist but you may get more problems down the line as he gets territorial or less as he relaxes. Good luck.

Interesting question. Immit a big fan of going out and now that I have a dog who suffers from both separation anxiety and DA I do the shopping once a week and may sometimes go out to meet a friend for coffee during the day but definitely no longer than 2 hours and only if someone else can be home to dog sit. If I'm honest though I quite enjoy not going out, we walk for about an hour and a half a day so we get excercise and I get so much more work done at home. I recently discovered ebay and find I can get work supplies delivered. People come to the house to visit which is nicer anyway. I know my OH gets a bit frustrated but the only thing I'm sad about is not being able to see my daughter graduate in London, aside from that it's more of a lifestyle streaming than a sacrifice.

Of my four chookies I adore one, love the rooster and the other two are "nice". Hank was the most noble of dogs, but he never needed the input that Jake does. I love them differently and its the same with my children, one is easy going and has just bought himself up to be a wonderful person. The other is high maintenance and has been hard work so I guess has had more of my time. Maybe it's good they're so different and incomparable to one another.

Lou-x Kimbriki tip out on the northern beaches has an excellent tip shop. Yesterday I walked past a place advertising free pallets. Amongst the wooden ones were plastic ones, they are seriously sturdy and I went back and fished them out. I can think of so many things to do with them, the solid ones would be an excellent table top for outside and the slotted ones will make great sides for a compost bin. Would make good animal pen sides too. I get silly excited when I find a good freebie????

Jake was 5 when I got him and was called Lime. He took to Jake by day 2. Just called him lots and rewarded him everytime he paid attention. Miss Biloxi?

If that's how much space 5 puppies take up how on earth did she manage her last litter of 17? Aren't they gorgeous, they're going to be huge.

That's a terrible thing to happen and seems it could have been avoided. I adopted a DA bull breed just over a year ago. He is improving but very slowly and having a year of experience to reflect on in my opinion I believe the level of danger of any dog is governed by the owner. My boy is closely managed at home and out but despite my best efforts he is frequently challenged by people who believe its ok to allow their friendly dogs to run across the road to say hello. I really wish there was some way of getting all dog owners, bull breed or whatever to control their dogs. We need greater education and policing of dog management. Owning a dog is a responsibility not just a thoughtless accessory acquisition.

Well done Justice, he has really absorbed his lessons so well. Clearly his training has really gone more than skin deep. BC that's a really good idea to get a treadmill and I hope your leg issues are sorted. This getting older and broken is just annoying isn't it? Two brags from us. Last week We were gardening g across the creek. Jake was tethered and we were about 15m away from him. My neighbours two dogs suddenly ran up to the fence going ballistic. Jake ran to the end of his tether and started barking. I ran toward him calling and he turned and came to a very surprised me. I whipped out the peanut butter and he calmly sat and licked it whilst looking at the still barking pair of dogs. When the owners came I got them to just quieten the dogs and we spent a bit of time letting everyone look at each other calmly before they took them away. About 15 minutes later one of the dogs came over the fence, he was running up the hill to a sleeping jake who I again called, he got up and came to me and my husband stepped in front of the other dog and calmly shooed him. I'm not sure at what point Jake became aware of him but he never barked or startled just calmly looked and ate his peanut butter. This situation is, I suppose quite similar to how we run our training sessions, with a dog walking up to him and we do spend a lot of time watching this pair of dogs play but it's gratifying to know that the training has generalized. -
