Does anyone idolize the alternative? What sort of dog does he own?
-
Until about four years ago I always owned purbred dogs (boxers), but then when my beautiful old dog died from cancer I was looking for another dog. I decided against a boxer because of the health issues and their size and I did research for a breed that would meet my needs and I couldn't find one. I wanted a short haired small to medium dog suitable for a suburban block, and with a golden retriever temperament. I couldn't find anything suitable. Perhaps this is why oodles are so popular because people are looking for a smaller labrador or a more robust family orientated poodle. Time for another breed? I ended up with what I refer to as an RSPCA special which I fell in love with the moment our eyes met. So much for my research. She has long hair and health issues. Edited to add I think the breed of dog that people choose tells a lot about their personalities and some people are snobs and they will choose dogs for this reason. Also people who have been around dogs for a long time become connoisseurs of dogs and only a finely bred dog will come up to their standards.

I know I am off topic but I am fairly new so forgive my ignorance, but what sort of dogs do prostitutes traditionally own?

7 Week Old Cane Corso At The Off Leash Park :(
nawnim replied to RiverStar-Aura's topic in General Dog Discussion
And I'd argue that a little less judging and a little more education will do more to help this pup and its owner - or you or any other owner. For all anyone here knows that pup is a cossetted and much loved pet. It's age and it's owners lack of understanding of dog parks don't give any of us the information to decide otherwise. However it seems to me that the pups breed may be leading some posters to make assumptions about the owner. More's the pity. If you want to give someone a serve, how about the owner of the dog that allowed it to bully the pup? Dog parks COULD be great places to socialise young dogs if it weren't for owners like that. Perhaps the owner of the other dog was also ignorant and thought they were just playing. Many dog park users and others don't know when their dogs are being aggressive or even rude. They will say that their dog is just being friendly. -

What To Do When Your Dog Is Scared At The Park?

If ever we meet an off-lead dog when mine are on lead I have taught my dogs to do a u turn and we get out of there as quickly as we can but with dignity. Dogs are very sensitive to owners being upset or angry and it can make them anxious especially a young dog. -
I don't know what sort of dog you have but we used to refer to this behaviour as a boxer welcome and we loved it, but it was embarrassing when visitors were greeted in the same way. It's difficult to ignore your dog if it is inside the house, but if it is outside don't go out until you have been home about ten minutes. This is also good for separation anxiety. Two methods worth trying for over exuberant greetings are firstly to fold your arms and turn your back until it stops, secondly tell the dog to do something else, for example 'sit', hoping that eventually the dog will sit without being told when you come in. I have found the second method successful when dogs jump everywhere with excitement when you take their food out. Instead of jumping up on me my dogs now offer a sit and wait until I say they can eat. I don't say anything, they just offer it which is great.

Or "opening post" depending on context. On most forums it stands for "original poster" (it means the person who started the thread, anyway). Thank you for the three posts

Is There A Staffy Rescue?

Hi, I'm really shocked about this dog's situation. Could you please keep us informed about what happens to him. Just wondering if his name starts with an F. I understand if you don't want to say. -
Rather surprised me, too. There's a difference between just reading a post or topic....& making a decision to reply. People can read posts or topics to their hearts content. That doesn't place some obligation on them to respond. There is a level of obligation to respond if a person is asked a question, asked to back up a claim, or to reply to a message. If that person is seen hanging around the forums, people might wonder why they are avoiding the question. Being anonymous is a non-offensive way of prioritising responses in your own time without any pressure. The level of obligation is dependant on how credible or polite a person wants to be online. Some people feel no obligation, some feel it very strongly. Trolling and online bullying are often about manipulating people's feelings of obligation to respond to posts. I agree with your last sentence very much. But I have reservations about the rest. Given no laws or regulations or common courtesies are being broken, people have the right to speak their mind. They also have a right to decide when not to speak. Frankly, if someone wants to avoid any question, they are free to do so, whether I like it or not. Even the law allows the right to remain silent. The reverse is the Gestapo approach of 'we have ways of making you talk'. The fact that someone is 'hanging around the forums' is a case of someone deciding where they want to be. There appears to be a need to control, beyond reasonable boundaries. I was thinking more about manners. If you ask a question and you get responses, don't you feel obliged to thank them or at least acknowledge them? What about a person that posts a distressing story asking for help, and lots of people respond trying to help but have questions to ask in order to find out the best way to help. Is the OP obliged to give a more detailed explanation or acknowledgement of the questions? I've noticed that it tends to annoy other forum members very much if people do not respond in those situations. If you were in those situations where you had asked for help or a question, would you feel obliged to respond to people giving advice? I know that I would. I am quite free to not respond, but what would people think of that? What would they think of me ignoring them, but my name being there at the bottom of the screen to remind them that I have read their post and have chosen to ignore it? That's why I like anonymous. I don't want people to think I am ignoring them just because I am busy. Even if it's true. Probably seems like a silly question but I'm new to these forums and I'm just wondering what OP stands for. Other party? Other person?

..you actually look to see who's reading stuff? This.. Who actually looks to see who is reading a thread? Wher is Pesh, we need a poll... Don't get it. You're saying you couldn't care less but you want to keep talking about it. Was that aimed at my comment??? Nowhere did I say I couldn't care less (or keep talking about it? whatever it is ) All I asked was who looks to see who is reading a thread... If so, I only just saw the thread and thought it an odd question. Upon reading the thread, I agreed with the others...

Why do people log in anonymously? I am not too sure what is to be gained. Are they lurking? I feel a bit spooked when I have just posted something and there at the bottom of the screen I see that 10 anonymous users are logged in.
