Hey everybody, Thank you all so much for your responses. Airedaler, I couldn't think of any better way to sum my dog up! She is unbelievably stubborn! Nothing I do, could ever get her to do what I want her to do! Juice, There's nothing wrong with her dog house. We have a decently large backyard which is fence in half. ( opened, like pool fencing ) that way my kids can go out side without me having to worry they are going to get bowled over! On her side, she can easily see her dog house, which is large, ( my kids and myself, fit in it together! ) It doesn't wobble and although its not in her favorite place, I cant move it as I nailed down. ( it is a custom built one ) The pergola does cover some of her area and I haven't thought about a create but its a good idea, but , ( don't laugh! ) Ive never used one before, so how does that work? How often do you let them out? Rosetta, Ive tried that one! She just drags it out into the rain with her! Persephone, Thank you for your advice. Adra is very active! Everyone who meets her tells me she needs Valium! Mantis, that's funny! My other beautiful girl, who is not with us anymore , She sat in the rain too! Maybe it is a breed thing! Ronda, I didn't think of that, but 'Im not sure i could do anything about that. Any suggestions? Janba, I noticed that recently. I always wondered how she would always sit in the rain and she never appeared to be wet! Thank you for the explanation. Lollipup, Aren't their personality's amazing?! They are the best actors when they want to be! Its adorable though!

Hi everyone, My 14 month German Shepard Adra won't get out of the rain. Sydney is having pretty miserable weather at the moment and I'm worried that she may get sick. She has a huge dog house and other shelter but she won't go in it or sit under it. I don't like having to tie her up to stay dry, nor can I bring her inside as she's not an inside dog, ( last time I tried to get her in the laundry, she ate the woodwork! ) Will she be okay or will she get sick?

Thanks Noisymina! :)

Thanks for the group information, Minyvlz! Hey Noisymina, That's so funny! My vet will not have a bar of it! Adra is extremely light on her feet and maybe that's because she just maybe the right weight! Shes very energetic and can give David Beckham a run for his money how amazing she is with a soccer ball! She dribbles it up and the yard like its attached to her feet! Its hilarious to watch!

Hi Rebanne, I'll try that, I'll get one next time I go and get her food. Thanks. Hi Becks, Thanks for the advice! Ive tried that already but she some how was aware of what I was doing! But that was awhile ago so Ill give it another try! Hi Andisa, I did try to get in contact with her by email and I know shes a very busy woman, but she didnt get back to me, that was probally 4 and a half months ago, but thanks, I will try again. Hi Luvsdogs, I know that they shouldn't be eating mince as the purpose of the diet is to chew through the bones, but when it comes down to whether or not shes going to eat, Id rather her eat. She only has mince about once a week otherwise its bones. Ive tried with the whole chicken, and cutting it up ect, but she wont have it and she wont have offal. And last time I tried the tough love approach she didn't eat for 3 days, I couldn't do that again, It broke my heart, She is a very determined girl! But Thank you so much for your advice, I will try incorporating it again slowly, (this time! ) and trying the frozen way. Hi Noisymina, My vet is not raw food diet friendly. I'm already gearing up for the earful I'm going to get in May for her booster vac! Last time, I was told how she wasn't going to do well and have arthritis and all these other things because of the raw food diet, of course then he tried to get me to buy a $90.00 bag of his stuff! Your response helped me a lot though, I was using the 3% ratio and I knew she was eating enough, so I gave extra due to all her movement. But she is healthy and happy so I should stop worrying! Hi Twodoggies2001, I know, the poo thing is great! With our other beautiful girl we had before she died, In the summer it was horrible, there were flies everywhere and all over our screens ect, with Adra, hardly none. Its amazing! She looks a little skinny but nothing is protruding and shes very built at the front, so I'm not sure. Ive only ever been used to dogs on commercial food and they have always been very big but not that healthy. Thanks for the advice.

Hi Stitch, She is almost 13 months old. Ive tried feeding her a lot of different things, shes just very fussy! As with BARF its very expensive and contains things such as vegetables which I don't see that they need as a dog in the wild doesn't eat vegetables! Mainly used as a filler in dog foods. I try mostly to go along the lines of a women I came across about 7 months ago called Jane Anderson. She has a website that helps so much with raw food dieting. So I basically try to stick to her guide lines all except the rawhide bones! They are mainly used as something my kids give to her as they miss feeding her treats and they wont touch a raw bone! Hi Sandra777, She looks great! I'm also glad that someone understands that its hard to tell on a GSD, Big n fluffy dry, drowned rat when wet! She's got great definition and shes very toned and has a beautiful coat. You cant feel protruding ribs when you pat her. As with the raw hide, as I was saying to Stitch, its just for my kids to give her something every now and then! Hi Minimax, Im pretty sure that your on the right track, she needs more fat. ( I wish I had that problem! ) Ive tried giving her a carcass, but she keeps turning her nose up at it. Ive never tried mincing it though, i'll have to see who can do that for me. Do you know what would be a very fatty meat or bone? Thanks everyone for your help and feedback. If anyone would know of a good fatty meat or bone, I'd love to know.

Hi everyone! My beautiful German Shepard Adra has been on a raw food only diet since she was 5 months old. ( i think, losing track of time! ) When she was a puppy, i wrote posts on this forum as I couldn't get her to stop itching or scratching no matter hat we did. After we changed her diet, wow, what a difference! No itching, beautiful teeth, gorgeous coat, no smell ( from anywhere! ) and boundless amounts of energy! My only concern is that she is a little on the lean side. Should I be concerned as she is so healthy? She is about 25-28 kilos. Vaccinated, always wormed and heart wormed. She eats 1 kilo of raw food at night ( either, chicken mince, chicken necks, brisket bones ect ) 3 times a week she has about 500g sardines and an egg once a week. She also has some of those rawhide bones once or twice a week. You see, to me, it doesn't seem like enough food, but Ive tried increasing it 1.5 k but she wont eat it! She is like a scale, she will eat aprox a kilo and leave the rest! She amazes me! Then I thought that Id give her the other amount in the morning, but she wont eat it either! Ive also tried giving her a carcass and things like offal but she wont have a bar of it. Does it seem okay or am I just worrying? Thanks in advance. :)

Hey everyone, thank you all for your advice. I have been waiting for her to get to 16 weeks before I cut out the last meal as I'm still worried about her weight. If anyone has any good ideas for weight gain ( not to much, obviously! ) Id appreciate it heaps! She is 15 weeks and weighs about 12 kg. To me she looks a bit on the lean side. It doesn't help that her coat is pure black, its a very slimming color!

Hi coco11, thanks so much for the advice. After all this time she is still itching! She doesn't have any skin problems, the puppy pimples are gone and she gets a good dose of her omega oils and she is wormed and we give her revolution monthly. Funnily enough, her brother ( which my parents have got ) does the same thing! My puppy, just like your, loves rolling in the grass! We have a big cement rectangle water bowl ( the only one she cant knock over! ) and she dunks her head in there and then runs to roll on the grass! Its so funny! I will ask my vet about the antihistamine. as I think she may have a reaction to the mosquitoes. We have so many here at night as with all the horrid weather we are having here, nothing is drying up. She goes to the vet next week for her vacs and I will find out then. In the mean time, I will try the Aloveen. Thanks again!

Hi Tralee, Adra is a female. Thanks so much for the advice. I fed her this morning a puppy roll with dry and she almost ate it all! So I will see how tonight goes! Hi Pav Lova, you have given me a light bulb moment!!! As she is very destructive at the moment and chewing everything, she may be teething! Thank you so much for your help.:D

Hi mumof4girls, your puppy is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for all of your suggestions, I was thinking about the needle as well, she ate so well before she got her last one, so I will have to look into that. Hi Persephone, Adra is about 14 weeks now. I will try the mince and the puppy kibble and see how she goes. I know the rice and vegetables are just filler, but she was only 4 kilos when I got her at 8 weeks ( far too small for a GSD ) so I worked very hard for the next month to get her weight up and what I was giving her worked. She was almost 10 kilos by her 12 week vacs. The vet said she was healthy and has a beautiful shiny coat. She is just so very active and i don't no where she is getting her energy from if she is not eating that much! I will let you both know how it goes, thank you so much to both of you!

Hey everyone! I need some feeding advice. I was currently feeding my GSD puppy chicken mince mixed with cooked brown rice, vegetables, cheese and puppy biscuits, twice a day. Along with a something in the middle of the day, such as a few chicken necks or a tin of sardines. She still loves the middle meal but doesn't want the other 2 which she used to love! Ive tried swapping it for canned food mixed with dry, puppy roll mixed with dry and dry on its own and she doesn't want any of them! Its driving me crazy! :crazy:Does any one have any suggestions? She is otherwise healthy and happy. Thanks.

Sorry for the late update post but its been really busy around here! i took Adra to the vet and she was fine except she had puppy pimples! so we are in the process of treating that. Thanks everyone! :D

Hi Kadbury, firstly, thank you for your very bright welcome! Now, about my gorgeous puppy, her name is Adra. I have bathed her a few times since I have got her as she has a great fondness for digging holes and taking mudbaths! I used a puppy shampoo and when she started itching, I bought a flea one. Even though I was pretty sure that she didn't have fleas ( i couldn't find any, plus she is using the revolution ). That didn't help either. As for the photos, i would love to but i keep trying but it says that the file is too big, so if you know how i can fix that, that would be a big help. :) Hi Miss B, Just a thought that the shampoo might be a bit strong for puppy skin. Also I read in one of the threads recently that the Poster dilutes the shampoo in a spray bottle and sprays it onto the coat so that there is a lighter application and no concentrated spot that the shampoo may not wash out fully. Have also read that shampoo like Aloveen is an all round good one for puppies and dogs. I am sure there will be others who can suggest different ones that they have used with success. Regarding the pics. I have always uploaded mine to photobucket and then just loaded the img code in here. Good luck with that too. p.s love the Name Adra - do you know what it means and where it originated. Hi Kadbury That's a really good idea about the shampoo! If the vet cant find anything wrong, I will give that a go! I don't have photo bucket but I will look into it! I love the name too! I think ( but don't hold me to it! ) I remember finding it on the net on a baby name site and it was of Arabic origin and it meant dark one, appropriate for her beautiful black coat!
