I don't even know which pup is mine yet (I know he will be one of 3 blue merle boys, 2 full tails or a 1/4 tail), but I have deliveries arriving next week and a lot of my basics already covered! Already bought: Brush, comb, collar and leash, shampoo and conditioner. Already have nail clippers. Paid for and coming next week: Crate, a heap of toys (chew, soft, sqeeky, tugs, balls) Still to get: Crate mat, outside kennel and mat for that, bowls, long line, old towels/blankets from vinnies. A comforter toy and kong wobbler or similar. Of course food and I'll get a harness fitted when I get him. Oh and the puppy!

Have you tried a puppy loo with fake grass? He might find that easier to distinguish between the floor and his toilet. Cheap places like Sam's warehouse sometimes sells them, or you could make your own with a tile (or four) of fake grass from Bunnings with pee pads underneath?

Still 6 weeks for me! Ben and Jerry, I always said something about myself, how the puppy/dog could fit into that life and demonstrating that I have researched into what the breed needs, my experience with dogs, what I'm looking for in a dog (for me companion first with agility/obedience on the side). I was also always open about my living circumstances (full time student) as some breeders are wary about that. I then ended the email saying that if they have any questions at all to feel free to ask and left both email and phone numbers. I got good responses but ended up going with a breeder I first met in person at a dog show. So that's my favourite option :) Still say the same stuff though.

The breeder of my pup feeds Super coat and I plan on switching over to a premium food when I get him, I know about slowly adding in food from my last boys stomach problems. But when after getting the pup would you start switching? Straight away or leave it a few weeks while the puppy settles in?

... Less than 50 miles from Sydney??? Seeing as I live around 5 hrs from Sydney that sounds odd.

not when you talk about excessive drinking, smoking etc, our pets aren't really into that, well mine aren't :laugh: My old lab once licked up a bit of spilt beer... after that you couldn't be around him with a beer bottle without him drooling at you. The problem is that every vet in my town has a policy that you have to pay upfront anyway and insurance just refunds what ever amount your particular insurance company says directly to you. So even if I have pet insurance I will still need to have enough savings for treatment and may not have enough for the best treatment at the time. I know Petplan says they will pay straight to the vet, but it is up to the policy of each clinic. That's very true, I am lucky I have funds I can raid and pay back, but it does make it hard for those who don't. If I was lucky enough to have a clinic who would allow petplan to pay straight to them, I would get it in a heartbeat. But at the moment I would rather that $50 a month to go into my Emergency funds :) I know some people who have an emergency only Credit Card, but I haven't looked into that.

That is one of the cutest puppies ever!!! That sounds terrible at Adelaide, imagine if he was by himself.

I would try to get him used to being alone (for short periods of time) before you go back to work. But Sunday / Monday I will let him spend some time alone in his pen (at first with me in view) and also completely alone. Tuesday my friend is staying at our house with him so she will follow the same rules. Then Wed/Thu/Fri my partner is working from home but might go into the office for a couple of hours. Then another weekend where I can control things again! I'm going to be a bit of a control freak... I already get ANNOYED when other people try to tell me how to raise my puppy - I feel like I know it all after reading these forums for the past few months! :laugh: I said to someone yesterday "I wouldn't tell you how to raise your daughter" If it's good advice, take it :) If it's "You have to chain that pup up so it knows it's place" advice, yea tell them to F off.

British Bulldogs on the NRL footy show tonight! Liked that they made the point to say the mascots were from a well respected registered breeder Sorry missed who they said it was, sure someone here knows though :)

I agree, not only is he a disgusting excuse for a human, but a bloody idiot. On the photo that was on facebook he was actually commenting all of Monday with all these different stories saying he did nothing wrong! Way to dig yourself a bigger hole.

Yesterday police visited a Mullion Creek property and identified the carcasses of several dead sheep found on a nearby road after they were reported missing by a landowner. Late yesterday afternoon a man was arrested and interviewed at Orange Police Station. He was charged with six counts of aggravated cruelty upon an animal, seven counts of committing an act of cruelty on an animal, one count of entering enclosed land and five counts of stealing livestock. The posting of the photograph on the social media site drew an instant response from the public with a barrage of comments condemning the man's actions. Police launched an investigation to see if the Facebook posting and the landowner's complaint were linked. The Facebook photograph of two men with three dead sheep laid out beside a hunting dog was taken at night in front of a vehicle with the number plate clearly displayed. Police said yesterday the sheep were identified as being from the property where the owner had reported his sheep missing on Friday night. Yesterday, police alleged the animals had not been shot, with the carcasses displaying injuries that suggested they had been mauled by a dog and stabbed. Jo Shearim, part-owner of Bullets n Bits, a hunting supply store in Orange, said the business was inundated with calls from outraged customers on Monday, shortly after the pictures had been posted on Facebook. "Everyone is disgusted at this," she said. "It is this sort of behaviour which gives responsible hunters a bad name." An RSPCA spokesman said they had liaised with Orange police over the alleged cruelty incidents throughout the day. Canobolas Local Area Command Inspector Dave Harvey said police investigations into the case were continuing. The RSPCA said a charge of aggravated animal cruelty in NSW carried a fine of $22,000 and/or two years imprisonment. The man has been refused bail by police and will remain in custody until his court appearance.

No sharing yet, not my photos. I'll be waiting till I actually know which puppy is mine and go out meet him and take some photos myself! They are so tiny at the moment but nice healthy pups! Because of their merle patterns mum said they look like Cheese and Bacon rolls

Last time I was at the vets a nurse/receptionist had her hand in a dogs mouth and then answered the clinic phone straight away without even wiping the slobber off. Urgh.
