  1. Oh goodness Lhok, I am so sorry. I hope you have someone around you, stay strong.
  2. Raineth that's exactly my thoughts, I was trying to put them into words but you did it better Nova will be allowed to interact with a select few of my friends adult dogs that I know very well and who are nice and calm and probably somewhat boring to him, one of those being a lovely greyhound I'm also skipping all the crappy free for all preschools that are around here and going straight to beginners class with a trainer at 12 weeks. Their breaks include you playing with your own pup, but in proximity to others.
  3. I agree with minimax and raineth. That kind of puppy preschool can give pups bad habits and why I will be avoiding them. Hopefully the rest of the classes have more controlled play. Glad you enjoyed it though Steph.
  4. Wish Raiden the best of luck. Do the vets have a plan Lhok?
  5. Mita have you got a link or name to this paper? I would like to have a read
  6. Thanks guys, Today was surprisingly good Anyone got anymore pup updates?
  7. Thanks Tikira, One of my reasons for the name Nova is from what you said about Sam helping pick out the new pup . I think of Sam being up there among the stars, and Nova also meaning 'New'. Other reasoning being I'm a physics nerd and merle really does looks like what happens after a Nova. Thanks for the luck with exams, I've got 3 in 3 days starting tomorrow. Very hard! I really hope you end up with the pup you want/need when you get back from your holiday :)
  8. I've sent an email off confirming name. Mr puppy is officially Nova :)
  9. Oh wow thats very quick! Congratulations! Any pictures of pup? Whippytails, there are a few around here. I guess I'll see what happens with pup and If I like it :)
  10. Whippytails you are organised so early! I'm not sure, we talked about it and I have the option, I can't really tell the nitty gritty stuff confirmation wise for shows, but if the breeder decides he is good enough I might just do some local shows. I'll definitely do Obedience, but it will be my first time trying for agility, we will see how we go :)
  11. Thanks guys :) I'm pretty excited about bringing him home. Lots more updates to come then!
  12. He's a lovely boy, he was the first one to come up and snuggle. He was happy to go off exploring for a bit but would always come back to check in and have a cuddle again. He also had a good response to leaves, toys and food. It was hard to pick from the other two as they were very similar but little differences in the other two pushed me to him. I was looking for a dog that will be good with obedience and Agility but also be happy inside having a cuddle. One of the reasons I was drawn to Aussies in the first place :) Apparently his confirmation is quite good too so thats great :)
  13. Oh oops, He's an NBT (bob tailed) and he is actually the lightest of the litter, but he should darken up quite a bit, and the breeder thinks his nose will end up completely black. He had the temperament I was looking for.
  14. For example, this is the next closest one of his face! Mmm this leaf is delicious
  15. I didn't get many clear ones, he was running around playing with leaves!, I have lots of his back because he would turn every time I tried to take a picture lol. A few weeks and you will be flooded with photos
  16. Thank you Tikira . I've sent you a PM a few days ago, but it says you haven't seen it yet.
  17. Oooh you reminded me of some obvious things Fairystar! Need to get a puppy slicker and bowls still! I'm going to wait till I pick him up to get a harness, so I get the right size. My old boy was a harness escape artist if it wasn't an absolutely perfect fit!
  18. He sure has got the sad puppy eyes worked out hasn't he! Have fun at Puppy Preschool!
  19. Yea I'm pretty sure that will be his name :) I bought a stuffed Elephant toy, a bed and blanket. Next week after exams are over is kennel and puppy proofing stuff.
  20. No I still haven't thought of a name. I'm still leaning towards Nova. But other possibilities include Toby, Luka, Louie, Floyd?
  21. My partners ACD does the exact same thing! She has dry paws as well but apart from that the vet says they are fine. When they are very dry we rub some sorbolene cream into them and it helps. Apparently she has ALWAYS licked her paws, especially at night. We try to discourage it, but it doesn't always help. I personally think my partner doesn't work her brain enough, so that may be related to it. She is worse on particularly 'boring' days. I've have had some success with teaching her new tricks, it seems to help for maybe one night. Currently attempting to train him to do it though
  22. Did your breeder not tell you? Can you contact them? Mashed pumpkin can help.
  23. My lab had IBD, and when I/D food didn't work we had a raw diet that had Kangaroo meat, low in fat, high in protein. We were recommended to always cook the kangaroo mince and we mixed it with mashed potato. He also had to have a lot of vitamin supplements though as that is all he could digest during flare ups.
