  1. Sumo is just amazing! How could you resist cuddling that big face?!
  2. Thanks everyone! I adore him, I can't stop looking at him!! Congratulation Zereuloh! Thats amazingly quick, you are very lucky. Tyrion for a corgi is a great name :) But I'm a huge GOT/ASOIAF fan. I personally couldn't name anything after a GOT character until GRR Martin finishes the books! What if one of them turns into the worst character ever or something! Esky, I bought both Controlled Unleashed: The Puppy Program and The Focused Puppy, referred to me by the DOL community They were a good read, I'll let you know how they go in practice!
  3. Daisy, I'm not really sure but his breeder thinks he'll take a lot from his dads side, so he should be a nice sized boy. He has nice big paws :) His tan has darkened up dramatically since I picked him out. Last night was really great, not a peep out if him, went into his crate by himself. Woke up at 1am for toilet, then not again until 6:30. Carried on a bit this morning when I left him outside for a little, but calmed back down. I'll put him back out soon with a kong and see how he goes.
  4. Thanks Persephone, I really do hope somebody finds it somewhat useful. The major thing I want to stress is to try EVERY food possible. Who would of thought that one of the cheapest and supposedly crappiest dog foods around would be the food he could actually eat!
  5. Wow I would never of thought of old suitcases as dog beds, what a great idea!
  6. Thanks guys, I'm seriously just watching him sleep, he is a funny thing, rolling around, very classy act There are two local shows coming up in a few months so we might have a go at that too.
  7. Thanks guys, bit of a drive, not too bad. About 5 hours all up. Welcome Nova - Lanbart Texas Wrangler He's been just great, so calm, hardly a peep out of him in the crate on the way home, grabbed a harness for him back in town and he was more than happy to sit in it. Played this afternoon and he's been snoozing since. It's really hard to tell from the photos but he actually has split eyes, about 1/3rd of one eye is blue and the other had a small dot. Might get more noticeable when he gets bigger.
  8. That looks hilarious. I could not stop laughing if my dog needed to wear those!
  9. Here he is come that Spring, about 6 months later. He lived until easter this year, So he was 11. It stayed away until this year, but fortunately he did not loose too much weight this time, only a few kgs. The lack of protein swelled his stomach and it was time to let him go instead of seeing him half starve again. If anyone wants any information that they think will help, please feel free to ask.
  10. So these are two photos I took the 5 days later, after we found out he put on 5kgs and we were not putting him to sleep today. We kept up his medication but slowly decreased it, and with a diet of Pedigree he put back on ALL of his weight. His temporal muscles never came back
  11. I've been thinking of doing this thread since Sam passed. I'm now able to look at photos of him and smile so I thought that this thread could be of some help to people now and in the future. Sam was a fairly healthy pedigreed labrador, with only a few visit to the vet. Until 2007-2008 when he started to dramatically lose weight. It started just after he turned 6. Sam was always a big boy looking his best around 36kg, Mum and I noticed very quickly but every vet we went to would just say to us 'He's a lab it's good he is getting skinnier'. It took a new vet straight out of uni to realise that looking at his records it wasn't normal. She noticed as an adolescent (around 10months) he was fairy overweight, but dropped all the weight in about 1 month. We had always thought it was from changing Puppy food to Adult food. After doing some general tests and nothing coming back the vet booked him on for an exploratory operation within 2 weeks. Results came back that he had Inflammatory Bowel disease, but not "normal". He had Both types. So both Crohn's, and Ulcerative. From that moment on we started vigourous treatment on many many medications and every specialist diet you could think of. He just could not digest food, it was all coming back out. The weight loss slowed down a little on Kangaroo and mashed Potato but not enough. In about 4 months he was down to 21kgs. We were advised there was nothing else we could do, his muscles had wasted, especially his temporal muscles, apparently once they go it's a good sign, we decided to put him down at the end of the week. I took these photos at the start of the week. Our vet said, give him what ever he wants to eat. He always loved Pedigree meaty bites, and we used it as training treats, so we just started feeding it to him. We still can't tell you why but in 5 days he put on 5 kilos. ...continued on a reply so I can add more photos.
  12. Not sure if this is a typical lab thing but he also liked to sit on a chair like a human, then fall asleep upright. That made the snoring worse I was never able to get a good photo of it because he would always get up and move, but here he is just waking up from it a few years ago (he was 8 in this photo). He would sleep leaning back with one arm on the arm rest PS: Sorry for going OT
  13. Aliwake you have a lab, just wait till he gets older and you will start hearing noises . We could hear Sam snoring outside, with the doors shut, over the TV. But he liked to sleep with his head hanging off things so I don't think that helped!
  14. Oh yea, it's a really excited read . I've decided I really like the word Riboflavin. I completely forgot that banks aren't open on weekends so I just ran down town before the rush to get money out to buy him! That would of been good if I forgot! My ATM limit is quite low, so I wouldn't of been able to get any money!! Thanks Di, don't worry I'll get lots of photos :) We already have potential play dates
  15. You're pretty talented to make them Whippy! What type of leads did you get? I'll be arriving at the breeders at around 11:30am Sunday, so in 48hours I will be cuddling my puppy!!!!! You know how I'm currently passing time? Reading dog food labels. Yep. I have his current food he is on in front of me, and the food I'll be switching too (Which the breeder is happy about). No wonder I have never followed the recommended amounts to feed on the back of dog food bags, two fairly similar foods, one only slightly better quality, but the amounts to be fed are different by whole cups!!
  16. Like other, we found one in Sam's paw, luckily we caught it early enough it didn't need anaesthetic, after an examination, it was close enough to the surface the vet popped it out like a pimple! Keep your grass short and check him for them after being in/near long grass.
  17. Thats great Lhok :) Your breeder sounds lovely!
  18. Oh goodness Daisy.Tea! Atticus is gorgeous, Puppy bellies are so cute!!! He has darkened up quick hasn't he!
  19. Jack we either have Petbarn or a pet shop which I wont support as they sell puppies. There are some stock feed places which I got some stuff from for cheap, but they generally don't have a very large range of dog stuff. Got a few things from Horseland too. I checked the full prices of the new Petstock to our Petbarn today, and Petbarn is still way over priced! You don't need to host the photos first, just use full editor and add them straight from your files.
  20. She is beautiful! I might be a little biased but I love a deep yellow lab
  21. Looks great Di, You should get it framed
  22. I was thinking about doing that, but I would feel so guilty I only bought a small bag to try it out, so not too bad. But seriously, couldn't they of done a letter box drop or something? Can we see the end results? Also is it hard to put pjs on a dog?
  23. Of course this would happen! Right after I buy expensive puppy food and all the puppy stuff a brand new Petstock Warehouse opens up in my town with 2 for 1 super premium dog food and has the food I was looking at getting but couldn't get a supplier. DAMN IT! Ah well if the Proplan doesn't work out I can now go to the other stuff, either way it's all heaps cheaper! At least I'll be able to get his harness fitted and bought for half price next week!
  24. Just to show you guys how lovely it actually is today! Hoping it sticks around for next week!
