  1. Oh no Jack! Hope you are ok. We definitely need to see more Koda :) I want to see how fast he is growing! Nova screamed bloody murder for an hour and a half today while I went down town. Other times he had been fast asleep after a bit of whinging but not today. But he got to meet some nice girls from next door this afternoon, and we started practising walking nicely on lead
  2. Aww poor Nixon Hope he stops breaking teeth after this!
  3. Just took Nova out to pee, man he came back in quickly! It's a nice sunny day but the wind is strong and coming straight off the Snowy's! I wish I took a video of him discovering the wind, eyes wide open, getting pushed over!
  4. Yay for Tyrion!! I agree with Dekadent, try washing his bedding and anywhere else he pees with vinegar :)
  5. Nova sleeps in his crate at night in my bedroom, so I leave the jacket hanging on cupboard door next to a pair of ugg boots, I chuck them on before I take Nova out of the crate. During the day/night before he is in my room, the jacket stays near the back door. Can't let yourself catch a chill remember :)
  6. I bought a wind/water proof jacket a few weeks ago for field work, it's super warm. Probably the best thing I could of bought for puppy toilet training in winter!
  7. Well Im sure you will get lots of information here anyway! Have you got any local shows coming up? You could go check them out and meet some dogs
  8. Thats great :) Are you going to look at the same breed?
  9. He won't go in? Have you looked at the DVD crate games? No no, he won't "go", as in toilet, in it He loves his crate, just took himself into it now actually.
  10. Perhaps you will need to set an alarm at smaller intervals throughout the night and take him out BEFORE he wakes up to poop. Might get the ball rolling? How big is his crate? Nova is in an adult sized crate but with lots and lots of bedding so its snuggly. He won't go in it.
  11. I think so :) It was so so hard, but getting a new pup has helped me so much. Just make sure the time is right, and I think, like this sign, you will know when. I'm convinced that the first litter not being successful, happened for a reason, it would of been too soon (they would of been born the same week Sam passed). Being offered Nova from the next planned litter worked out to be perfect timing for me.
  12. Just thought I'd add my current experience. I have had Nova my 8 week old Aussie since Sunday afternoon. He is exploring everything with his mouth including me. What I've been doing (and what seems to be working) is "yelping" when he bites, which makes him stop straight away, then I praise and stuff a toy in his mouth. His attention quickly turns to his toy instead! Today he was biting a lot less, but has started to bark straight at me. I've found two methods to stop him, completely ignore him, or a loud "UH" and once again, when he stops and he's calm, lots of praise! I've also been working on getting him to sit, I can get him to sit now when I see him get that "I'm gunna put my mouth on you" look in his eye. Hopefully my methods will keep working
  13. Gosh Willow is a cutie :) Great success with Nova today, he is consistently going to the back door to be let out to toilet! I'm so impressed by him! I thought it would it would take a lot longer than 4 days, and he started doing it Tuesday night, but he has done it every time today! He is also now sitting on command, such a clever cookie!
  14. That is one of the most adorable faces ever! Congratulations!!!
  15. Crits'n'bits he is lovely! Beautiful colour!
  16. Crate training is going fine. Learning to be outside by himself is more difficult!
  17. Back on topic, I've had great success this week firming up Nova's stools by decreasing the amount of wet food and increasing dry food intake (he is still on his breeders diet).
  18. Might be a surprise to you Turka, but some dogs do terribly on a raw diet. My own boy was a prime example. Just because YOU think that you are doing the right thing doesn't mean it is the right thing for ALL dogs.
  19. Thanks Raineth, Brocks ears are hilariously wonky. Sounds like you had a good night Zereuloh!
  20. Ask and you shall receive :) Featuring Brock the Greyhound (and part of his owner). Grabbing coffee. (Carried him in, they don't have any dogs out there so he was ok on the ground for a bit). Learning to Sit
  21. Tyrion is a cutie! I like this thread better, we've all been in the waiting game together!! Can I keep posting here?
  22. Play date went well :) He was a little scared of the giant lanky dog to begin with, Brock was so calm and nice though. But he ended up running around the back yard with him. My favourite photo of the play date (excuse Brocks owner in the background )
  23. Well I guess I've graduated to this thread now: Nova, has a play date with a greyhound in an hour, I'll try and get some good photos
  24. Thanks Raineth! We have a play date in an hour with a lovely big greyhound! Should be lots of fun :) Good luck, Zereuloh! Hope to see lots of photos!
