Why You Shouldn't Shave Your Long Coated Dog
LisaCC replied to luvsdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
What about Aussies? Cow dogs in America, I have a close friend from and back living in Arizona. Her family had working Aussies and never shaved them. I've heard they are popular workers in Texas too. -

I could probably do Canberra Royal, it's always the weekend before uni starts for the year. Definitely want to do some locals first though. -

Thanks Tikira, here is Sam's facebook page Midnightserval Photography, she's quite good :) When I get the full set I'll start a Photo thread and put them up. Yes Whippy, he should be fine :) I'm waiting patiently for my tax return so I can get my DogsNSW membership and buy some showing stuff without breaking the bank account -

I really want to see the whole set now!! I'm really surprised how quickly his nose is filling in, I expected it to take a lot longer but glad I might not have to worry about as much sun burn come summer. -

I already got a sneak peak of one edited photo from today pro shoot :) More to come in a few days when I get them :) -
I see the Moe Strenfell one is there. It's been around for a while, but I really like it. Free shipping makes it worth getting imho. :-) Thank you :) I was thinking that one sounded good! Think I'll get a target stick too, some tugs, next size up harness... damn enabler!!

Oneteaspoon, when researching foods go straight to the Australian manufacture website for each brand and go off the ingredients and levels listed. Most of the food comparing websites go off the American versions and I know a lot of the dry foods have different ingredients over there :)

Does Anyone Feed Eukanuba 'rottweiler'?
LisaCC replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
I know they make the different breeds with different kibble shapes/sizes. Apparently the shape of the lab one slows down eating! I'd like to see that lol -
Human Grade Chicken Mince Or Chicken Frames Minced?
LisaCC replied to Puppynovice's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Turkey necks are great! They are gigantic so a Maltese wouldn't be able to get one down its throat. Depending on the lot if they are extra big I give my pup half of one as a whole meal. As Perse said chicken frames are good too. -
Ooooh! So which agility noob puppy DVDs should I buy?

I see no problem with a vet, dog walking. A lot of people exercise for hours everyday anyway, why not make money out of it? Hope it works out Elise :)

Nova lost his first tooth! -
I don't like the thought of putting all dogs on either a halti or a check straight up without trying a flat first, and not even training them to wear them. I used a head collar on my last dog for a time and it takes time to get them used to it. If your instructors are as nice as they sound perhaps ask if you can see how he goes on a flat first? I went to the first night of beginners obedience on Monday, it was a lecture first, pups and dogs come next Monday. We were told, she preferably wants to see all dogs come at least the first night on flat collars, but happy for you to bring martingales, front attach harnesses, or head collars if you like them and she will show people how to use them correctly after she's tried getting the dogs to work on the flat first. This is my first time doing an obedience class since early 2000s when it was all pulling and corrections on check chains. I really loved the lecture and looking forward to class, she is happy for me to continue using both clicker and toy rewards with my boy during class too :) Bonus she has split everyone in to small groups. Only 5 other dogs/pups will be in my class :)

Well our road trip was a success :) Nova slept for most of it, chewed on a kong for about half and hour then back to sleep. We stopped twice, one just for a quick wee, another at Cowra for lunch and a run around the new dog park. It was empty and just great! So well maintained. This morning he's been exploring Mums garden, already went for a dip in the fish pond Road tripping Cowra's Dog park Exploring Mums garden, he was sniffing in this photo :) Mmmm Bird bath -

A chew is a great idea thanks Lollipup (silly for not thinking about that!). Unfortunately Nova's crate doesn't fit unfolded in my car so he is seatbelted in the back. But I do have a car seat hammock so he can definitely have something to slobber over without recking the seats. We leave tomorrow morning and the photo shoot is on Thursday, I'll post them when I get them :) Rangermad Nova does not like the bath! But his breeder is also a groomer so introduced him to the process as a baby pup. I've bathed him a few times now after getting muddy and stinky and he puts up with it, but does not like it. I'm going to the first night of beginners obedience tonight! Its a lecture so Nova is also spending his first hour alone outside at night (housemate has already left on holidays). I'm already prepared with a big juicy marrow bone to keep him occupied :) -

Thanks lollipop :) I think the same of Envy, I think she will be a very regal looking dog! She did very well for such long trips so early! Nova is with me in the car almost every day to go somewhere, quite often he falls asleep after a few minutes but this will be our first trip that last more than an hour since I bought him home. Trying to work out how often to stop, I'm planning on stopping at Cowras new dog park that Tapua organised, it's pretty nice! I need to start introducing Nova to horses, he's met some sheep and cows from behind a fence, but my good friend is off on exchange and when she comes back he will probably be near her horse some times. Her horse is great with dogs but I don't know anyone elses that is. Hankodie, Every time he gets bathed he runs for that chair and tries to dry himself on it, then I have to continue drying him on the chair otherwise he does zoomies lol. The chair must be his safe place. I'm sure it won't take long at all until Hank find his inner retriever :) -

We went to Wagga 'Beach' today! We got there as soon as the sun came out so no-one was around while we were there which was great. Nova then had a bath so he can look/smell his best for the trip, I used his new whitening shampoo so his blaze, feet and chest are extra clean! He's now buggered and fast asleep :) "Why must you bath me?" Standing (terrible free stacking though lol) with extra white footsies Pooped -

Thank Lollipup! How did Envy take your road trips? It's amazing how fast they grow. Ahhh! What a good dog and horse!! How did you manage that? -

Thanks, he has an antler which he has been using a lot this week, but I haven't heard of the chilly bone. He has two toys that are a soft plastic gummy type material, and I've frozen them for him he didn't really like them cold until I froze some yogurt in them. Ah rocks, yea Nova tried to steal tiny little pebbles out of the indoor fish pond lol. -

Thanks Hankodie, I have a soft crate but I don't trust Nova in it yet so I'll be taking his collapsable metal crate which hopefully will just fit flat in the hatchback. Nova has been a pain in the butt the last few days, he's starting to teeth and is quite upset about it, if he can't find something to put his mouth (aka he gets sick of the different textured chews in front of him) on he just whines and whines, we are going back to basics on crating and matt work now because he just wont settle. Poor guy, but he is refusing to relax in the house until bed time, even after lots of play, a walk and training.
