  1. I think you are supposed to ring the police and get permission first.
  2. Not for long. ANKC is changing rules to see all dogs of colours described as "highly undesireable" placed on Limit register and not to be upgraded. You'd be pushing it uphill showing a dog of a highly undesireable colour. I doubt any of these are shown. I wonder how that colour got into the breed and my guess is that a lot of Dachshund people are too. Do you know where "Cream" sits? Was having this discussion a few months ago with Huga. It's not mentioned in the standard, but they have black noses like yellow labradors so they aren't dilute.
  3. My old housemate and lecturer are working on that. ANKC have funded them too.
  4. I really liked Armidale when I visited! We were staying in Glen Innes (also very nice) I'm pretty excited, I'd rather move to New Zealand though
  5. Where are you moving to Lisa?? I'm moving to Armidale. So still far away from all the excitement!
  6. Well our 2015 goals went down the drain with 3 injuries and a big move to somewhere where I'm training all alone with no equipment. So 2016: - Move again in January and restart our agility training at a brand new club! (Also looking at rebooting our entire foundations) - Get into the Rally and Obedience rings. I think that we are ready for Rally now. Just need to enter! - Take an Fenzi online course.
  7. I have 3 of those...one of the cats will get the lid off if it's not 100% secured but he's a persistent little rascal and otherwise they're great. 2 with Dalmatians and 1 with an Aussie! That's a clever cat! The lids on mine are really damn tight! I've snapped nails trying to open them a few times. Both mine have Aussies on them, I wanted the dally on the second one but they had ran out
  8. I have two of those Pro Plan storage bins that come up every now and then on specials at pet stores. A lovely Doler got me one even though I wasn't feeding ProPlan, then I ended up feeding Proplan at the right time one year. They are metal and have really great seals on them.
  9. They just emailed my dogs file over. Didn't cost a thing.
  10. Exactly! I've taken my dog out to public places, cafés, markets, petshops as many places as possible since he was a puppy and have continued since. He is perfectly happy in crowds and every environment we've come across so far. This policy has been around in most bunnings stores for a few months before it was released to the public, I took Nova into the garden area when I had to grab something quickly on a 30+ day about a fortnight before it was made public after a training session. He was calm, heeled through the store straight to what I wanted, and straight back out, some staff came and gave him pats. He ignored children and the strange objects he hadn't seen before. Would I take him now on a weekend and when people are just turning up because they can with unruly dogs? No. If I could afford a dog car with a lockable back set up I'd much prefer that, because it's pretty hard to steer a trolley while walking a dog. I get enough practice with that at Pet Stock.
  11. I'm not currently, but I'm planning on joining next year :)
  12. Obviously "big pharma" is bad and shouldn't be making money on this marvelous new drug.
  13. Not quite. You can't split the chew in 3's. Your 17kg dog needs a full 10.1-25kg dose. Which is 68.0mg. The XL pack is 136.0mg, that only gives you 2x doses if you were to split it. Unless you want to risk cutting too close to it not working and giving your dog no coverage.
  14. They haven't all let their staff know though. I went to our Bunnings and was going to get turned away by some lady that worked there until I asked to speak to the manager, then the manager was like oh yea sorry, there's a change in policy, they just hadn't told staff!
  15. If the dog caught the native bird while the dog was enclosed legally in it's backyard. Yep terribly sad for the native bird, but yep that's instinct, unfortunate. If someone has allowed their cat out to roam and it's gone and hunted out in some park land, still instinct, but I'll freely admit I'm going to be more pissed at that. If the cat was enclosed in it's backyard by a containment system like the dog and grabbed a bird then I wouldn't be pissed.
  16. Both are instincts yes. But most people are responsible enough to keep their dogs in their yards, thus limiting the amount of wildlife their dogs can access. Hopefully if you are around to see your dog hunting a native bird in the back yard you would call it off. Allowing your cat to roam the neighbourhood, especially at night increases the amount of wildlife they can catch and kill by a hell of a lot. Simply restricting them to the house and backyard enclosure reduces this.
  17. Plenty of people complain about the killing of snakes. They do in my circles anyway. I'm not sure what your point is about humans killing animals. Does that mean we shouldn't minimise the harm to natives from animals we've introduced by simply controlling their roaming?
  18. Wow! Gorgeous old girl, and she's still working. Good old kelpies
  19. Oooh thanks Jemmy! I will check out Kmart! Definitely a no go for the plush toy though, they promptly get destuffed here
  20. This one says it doesn't have a battery. Although, whatever makes the noise would probably not be great to ingest!
  21. https://www.globalshop.com.au/products/wobble-wag-giggle An ad for this thing just came on TV and Nova just went nuts! It's pretty pricy for a dog toy, but I think he would enjoy it. Perhaps a bit safer than the kids version of them. Anyone have one?
  22. Perhaps only hearing in one ear then? How's his sight?
  23. I think the nearest is out past Armidale & I think they are sort of like weekend workshops. Just bumping this up again, Sheena, do you have any more info on this?
  24. I have a Medium blue one for Nova. I made the mistake of adjusting recently thinking it was a bit loose (it wasn't), now I've stuffed it and can't get it perfect again! They are really fiddly to adjust, but once fitted properly it's a great harness. My Mum walks Nova on the front attach as she has arthritis and doesn't want to worry about any unexpected jolts or anything. He's not a puller, but if he happens to it doesn't really move much. Otherwise we use the back attachment which is nice and sturdy.
