He's growing so fast! Beautiful boy!

I only ever find them in Woolworths. Big white bags near the chicken necks. Sometimes up to about 8 per pack depending on the size.

2 Topics In 1 Breed Recognition And Registries
LisaCC replied to Angeluca's topic in General Dog Discussion
Mini Foxy The Australian Cobberdog - and the reason we made them change their name was because keeping it as the Australian Labradoodle confused the public as first cross lab x poodles are still called this and those who breed them never want to do multi generations and never want to be involved in breed development - it legitimises cross breeding. Same with the Australasian Bosdog it immediately recognises it as a breed in development and not just a bunch of people doing first crosses and cashing in on "hybrids" it takes a while for the name changes to take and it's why there is usually a 3 year transition period as it comes around to being used to describe the breed. I think I remember someone on DOL previously talking about another one, Murray River Retriever I think? -
2 Topics In 1 Breed Recognition And Registries
LisaCC replied to Angeluca's topic in General Dog Discussion
I do not know which register they are on, I know they are part of one. Perhaps it's the difference in states but most pig hunters I know (quite a lot) call their Bull Arab crosses exactly that, or just plain Pig Dogs. Just wondering but would you question anyone that had a Kelpie in the working register and called it Purebred? -
Every Bull Arab you've been introduced to isn't a proper one then. Like I said, many pig hunters cross them with Danes and Weims. Just because YOU don't think it is a breed doesn't mean that it isn't one. There ARE people that have "pure" Bull Arabs (5+ generations), and are very proud of their lines.

My beautiful grass I planted failed and now we have so many burrs, thankfully no bindis though. Burr removal has become a daily ritual. Nova removes most of them himself, and they come out really easily where his adult fur has grown in. But he gets very upset when I have to comb them out of his puppy fluff and ear hair, he wants to eat them instead

This is why I refuse to share a pet. I would never buy a pet 'together' for this reason.

A lot of the general public that I talk to see the Australasian Bosdog as a true breed, but most don't know about the name change yet :) Same with other breeds not recognised by the ANKC for example the Koolie and Bull Arab. Most people (well rurally at least), will see and know what these dogs are. For some reason I feel like I'm missing another really obvious example... Most people think my Pedigreed Aussie shepherd is a Koolie cross -
Lamby!!!!

Don't forget how quickly puppies grow! I think if you buy the 30inch one and just make the inside cosy he should be fine. If you do need to make it smaller you can always used something else like some cardboard to partition it off.
-
They aren't ANKC registered but I believe there is actually a Bullarab registry. There are some people working very hard to have them recognised as an actual breed. But most 'bullarabs' you see for sale are bull arabs crossed with something else, I see a lot crossed with dane and weimaraner. Those pig hunters with true bullarabs certainly don't call them their mutts, they are very proud of them. They aren't a designer breed, they've been bred for a specific task.

Mine didn't, but I believe some of them do. I had no problems using a full adult sized crate without a divider with my pup though.
-
This made me look up Aussie merchandise, so many cute wiggle butt things!

My neighbours young (6?) daughter's bedroom window looks over our backyard... Do you think I should warn them before I buy half a pigs head?

I would go for the vet check. My old lab got scratched by a cat on his nose, and the resulting scar looked like that.

No problem :) And you're not being silly! Your pup was being x-rayed, definitely an excuse to be emotional! I'm trying to keep Nova light too, hopefully performance in our future too! You're only in the ACT, perhaps we will cross paths one day! -

Daisy.tea, These are the quotes I've just gathered from the Aussie thread about different weights. Maybe ask your breeder about your boys lines and size expectations -

Aliwake, desexed male dogs sometimes act the same way around bitches in heat. It doesn't reduce their sense of smell :) Daisy.Tea, I'm glad his hips are good :) Nova is quite a large boy, I weighed him today at 18.3kg, he's 5 1/2 months. But he is in the condition I want him to be, I can feel his ribs easily, he has a very defined waist and up tuck. Next time you bath Atticus, have another look and feel of him while he is wet. The thing with Aussies is they vary in size a lot, so you can't go off a specific weight recommendation! Nova is a lot bigger than his litter sister and as I said on the Aussie thread I expect him to be quite big! Speaking of the Aussie thread, just look at the differences between the adult males there. MDDs Koda is 30 odd kgs when Rusty is a little thing at 22? I think it was. Both healthy, fit looking dogs. If he is having problems, a lot of vets would prefer dogs to be on the leaner side, he may be in great condition but being that little bit leaner might help reduce any joint pain he has. -

I know right? It's the cure all for every behaviour, when it;s done they just stop being naughty. I even had a vet at the lort smith on Saturday tell us we were mad for not having it done at 6 months and that breeders all tell old wives tales about desexing at older ages to keep dogs entire and continue their breed and make their show dogs grow bigger. Yes. Makes perfect sense now just look at his red eye and be quiet. It's shaping up to be quite a battle keeping his nuts for a few more months! Urgh, I'd get a new vet! I only like one vet here, and unless it's an emergency I make sure to always book in with him. It was the same back in Orange too. This one is great, asked me once what my plans were, I said agility so definitely not planing to desex until maturity and he just said good plan and left it at that . The one time I wasn't able to see him though I got lectured, "But it will prevent all the unwanted behaviours and make him so much calmer" She was trying to convince me 4 months was a good time!! -

Poor Gus At least Rosie is enjoying himself. Ah yes, because we all know how desexing cures all bad behaviours *remembering when my desexed at 6month lab puppy started humping, leg cocking and generally going nuts 3 months after the op* -
I've just moved my pup onto this from Pro Plan large breed pup. We got a free sample bag when I mentioned looking at changing because he had been vomiting a few nights, once completely switched it stopped. If it didn't work I was going to look at Black Hawk. Can definitely tell it's Salmon, the bag is so fishy smelling!

What Shampoo Do You Use And Why?
LisaCC replied to skyehaven's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I've been using the Blackmores Paw puppy range, so Shampoo, and a leave in conditioner spray. Also a bit of Fidos whitening shampoo on blaze, chest and paws before a show (or something special). Oh and on my last dog who sometimes got dandruff, Fidos oatmeal shampoo and conditioner worked great.
