  1. Miss Squish sorry about your pup Similar things happened before I got my boy too. Bergamascos and Briards are both magnificent dogs! Wish you best of luck trying to find a pup. I didn't even realise there were Bergamascos in Australia!
  2. Waves at the beach are scary for a lot of dogs. Get her used to still water first (like the bath tub), then slowly work up to calmer beaches. Lagoons and lakes are good. Fritz and Didi are looking HUGE!!

It is very beautiful. I was back there all last week but it was just this big bud that refused to open. Of course it opened after I left, so that's a photo Mum sent me on her phone. Yes, she picked it because of the name. Mum is an avid gardener, the backyard and front yard has many roses with different meanings. There is different yellow one planted in memory of a human friend too. There is also a flower for everyone in the family. She's already looking for one for Nova
  4. I don't know where this dog lives, as it's just close enough to be annoying but far enough away that I can't pin point the barking. I think it's coming from the other side of the park behind my place. But there is a small "yappy" dog by the sound of it that is almost constant in it's barking. One small "yip" every 6 seconds (I counted). It comes and goes but at it's worst it went on for TWO WEEKS straight. Day and Night. Surely it's owners were there? Surely the neighbours would of complained if I can hear it!! I don't know how people can let this continue. Back at my Mum's house, the then new next door neighbours bought home a kelpie pup. From about 5 months old to 18 months it barked all day from when the father left 6am to when they fed it at night around 5pm. Worse thing is… the woman was a stay at him mother so was there when it barked and never did a thing! When everyone was home in the afternoon you would hear the father tell the kids to go play with the dog so it would be quiet. They never would. They didn't even walk the poor thing. After our Lab died, Mum offered to walk their dog as she walks 2 hours every day and they said no. They finally got enough council notices that they put an electric barking collar on it.

The rose Mum planted in memory of Sam has finally flowered for the first time. 'Our Golden Son'.
  6. I just voted for heaps of different uses, because I use it differently at different stages. I can now trust Nova to be free in the house when I'm out but if I went out at night when he was a younger puppy he was crated for those few hours and also all night. He would be outside during the day if I wasn't home. I also put that he has free access all day but it's never shut, as it's out and he can go in it when he wants. But yes I do shut it on occasions.
  7. Oooh these look good. Does anyone have one of these in a hatch back rather than an SUV?
  8. You bought a Jeep????????? Sorry could not help myself.
  9. Agreed DDD, it's great to see people NOT recommending breeds that may not fit.
  10. You could use a slope fronted crate. Where did you get yours from?
  11. Thanks everyone! Thanks for the offers Steph and KC too <br style="font-size: 9pt;"> Unfortunately I've heard some horror stories from people who boarded their dogs As soon as I posted this I thought of you actually! I just wasn't sure if you are anywhere near where I was going. I will definitely check out your website again and possibly get in contact. Thank you! I had heard there was a good one in Albury but I didn't know the name. I will definitely check them out too.
  12. I'm looking for recommendations for boarding kennels between Wagga NSW and Melbourne next February for about 9 days For a then, under 2 year old possibly still entire male Aussie Shepherd. I'll be down in Bundoora for most the week then going out to Daylesford for a wedding. I'll be driving down, so I'm happy to drop him off anywhere along the road if it's good enough, as the ones in Wagga are apparently quite crap. Any recommendations appreciated, or places to avoid. Thank you :)
  13. Law if your Aussie is anything like mine, he'll figure out the Bob a lot by the time he's 10 weeks Nice stash, looks similar to mine! The last few weeks wait are the worst!
  14. The purina Roadies are extremely tight, so that might work if you want safety too. I went to buy their XL advertised to for labs and GSDs and it was much too small for my 26kg Aussie. Not a chance it would of fit my old lab. Disappointing really, but if your border can fit into it I think it would be very hard to slip.
  15. And this is Cowra Dog Park, organised by DOLs very own Tapua
  16. I have photos. This is the dog run, to the LEFT of the entrance to Wiradjuri reserve. This is one side of the pebble beach you will find if you look to the river on the right when you get to the first bend in the road
  17. I'll be there for just under a week, Master Nova is definitely coming. To his great disappointment he just got a bath so he is presentable Speaking of presentable… as you are driving, if you don't want a sandy car, still go to Wiradjuri but walk to the RIGHT and there is a pebble beach. Good for swimming and no messy sand. Coffee is doable, but may be difficult with everything shutting down for the long weekend! Perhaps a doggy play might be easier to arrange
  18. If you turn off the Hume onto the Olympic HWY after Albury and go up through Wagga, there are lots of places along the river to go swimming. If you go to Wiradjuri Reserve there is a fenced in dog run as well as some sandy river beaches. If you go that way, stop at the Junee Chocolate and Liquorice Factory for Lunch. Mmmm so good! Then if the dogs need another toilet break/run before Bathurst there is a nice fenced in dog park at Cowra across from Maccas. In other news… I'm heading to Orange tomorrow
  19. I think some of the Earthborn Holistic ones are over 30/20. Pretty sure the chicken "Primitive Natural" grain free one is.
  20. Oh I missed this! A very happy birthday to Gus and Rosie!!! All the puppies on this thread are getting so big! We need more baby puppies!
  21. I think it's a simple fact of rural living. Keep your dog contained or expect it to be shot. I actually don't know any farmers now that rely solely on chains. I can think of two that use them, and that is within a large run just to separate dogs during feeding. Most have off the ground snake proof kennels or full cemented runs. Forgetting the temp issues with chaining and the fact chains can break. Snakes alone would be reason enough to build an appropriate run.
  22. I was asked to join a local rescue group to help with fundraising. When one person realised where my dog was from I got abusive messages about it so I left.
